SOLGER : A Layout Design System Based on $45^{\circ}C$ Corner-stitching (솔거: $45^{\circ}C$ Corner-stitching에 의거한 레이아웃 설계 시스템)

  • In this paper, we introduce an integrated layout design system, SOLGER. Our system incorporates useful design tools : a powerful layout editor, a coherent access mechanism for large volumes of design data, an incremental design rule checker for hierarchical design environment, node extractor and electrical rule checker, a technology capture which is used for defining technology-specific information, and a procedural design environment for user customization. Also, we present a modified corner-stitching data structure which allows 45$^{\circ}$-angled bilateral edges. Users are provided with a multi-window design environment and a menu-driven interface. SOLGER is being used for VLSI designs practically.

  • This paper describes the SEAS which is a 2-dimensional graphic editor for schematic circuit and IC mask layout. This system runs on general purpose computer and Tektronix 4110 series graphic terminal. With this system, user can edit schematic circuits and/or IC mask layout with 2 level hierarchy. This system supports more than 20 kinds of built-in symbol, user definable internal symbols, 60 macros, 16 function keys, 4 level on-screen menu operation and edit-in-place of cell in main drawing. And it provides editing functions such as reflection, rotation, move and copy of one or a group of elements, and modification of polygona geometry etc. To improve the excution speed, we used local memory of graphic terminal. For the portability of the program, the system is written in FORTRAN 77 programming language.

  • Statistical analysis menus of MS Excel software, with powerful spreadsheet functions has not been modified since Excel 2000 Edition and its utilization is very low. To improve utilization of Excel menu for statistical analysis, this research compared outputs of Excel statistical menus and computed test statistics, and developed high-level macros. Outputs of Excel menus, both oneway layout and twoway layout, on real data are exactly same as the computed test statistics, and therefore, Excel menus for statistical analysis are reliable. Macros to provide results for Analysis of Variance with a block and multiple comparison of means are developed using Excel functions.

  • n this thesis CAM(content Addressable Memory) generator and graphic display tool for run-plot sequence in automatic generation of CAM are presented. We show that implementing the layout generation, graphic menu, mouse driver, and data structure by using the basic classes is clear and easy in modification than the conventional procedural language. For the implementation of generator which is independent of design rule or process, we use the parameterized cell so that basic cell can be changed according to user's inputs. and perform the layout by means of placement and routing using pitch mathching. Finally, the display of CIF which generated and constitution of graphic menu for total run-plot sequence are explained.

  • The purpose of this research was to develop an integrated interface for the usability test of systems or products in the design process. It is capable of automatically creating GOMS models which can predict human task performances. It can generate GOMS models to be interacted with the prototype interfaces. It can also effectively manage various design information and various usability test results to be implemented into the new product and/or system design. Thus we can perform usability test for products or system prototypes more effectively and also reduce time and effort required for this test. For usability tests, we established an integrated interface based on GOMS model by the LabVIEW program. We constructed the system that the linkage to GOMS model is available. Using this integrated interface, the menu structure of mobile phone can be constructed easily. User can design a depth and a breath that he want. The size of button and the label of the button is changable. The path to the goal can be defined by the user. Using a designed menu structure, the experiment could be performed. The results of GOMS model and the actual time are presented. Besides, values of operators of GOMS model can be defined as the value that user wants. Using the integrated interface that we developed, the optimal menu structure deducted. The menu structure that user wants can be established easily. The optimal layout and button size can be decided by comparison of numerous menu structures. User can choose the method of usability test among GOMS model and empirical data. Using this integrated interface, the time and costs can be saved and the optimal menu structure can be found easily.

Study to Improve School Catering Service Quality Through Cooking Hardware Upgrade (학교급식의 효율적 개선방안 - 조리설비를 중심으로 -)

  • The school catering service has gained national attentions and has been expanding unto high schools after offering meals at elementary schools over years. This study is to identify problems and solutions in kitchen hardware areas to provide nutritiously balanced meals to schoolchildren through establishing standard menu planning. The survey analysis shows that 59.2% of dishes except for rice, Kimchi and soup are prepared by oil deep-fired or oil pan broiled. This indicates that school meals are so limited to serve baked or steamed dishes. Main reasons on the limited menu selection is that schools don't have equipment to prepare baking and steaming dishes mainly due to budget issues. All the dietitians who answered the surveys have been requesting to purchase Convotherm Ovens. Improvement solutions to the problems are: Publish the Revised Standard Equipment Layout that may allow to serve baked and steamed dishes. Establish Budget Support Program from the Government.

A Study on the information architecture and menu design in the type of web sites (웹사이트의 유형 분류에 따른 정보 설계 및 메뉴디자인의 특성 연구)

  • With the increasing number and variety of internet users as well as the development of internet technology, web contents have been taking a more comprehensive, integrated, and practical form. This change has brought to our attention the importance of the information architecture and menu design, both of which are required for the users to navigate vast amount of data promptly, correctly and easily for effective communication in the web sites. In this study, web sites were categorized by the service levels provided to the users, and sampling was performed accordingly. Then, information architecture, the layout and the presentation of the menu design were analyzed. The result of the analysis show that there are distinguishable characteristics in how the menus were expressed and designed, and that these characteristics reflect the users' characteristics in the web interface menu design. With the result of this study, we present a guideline for information architecture and web interface menu design, which reflects user characteristics thereby strengthening usability. Using this guideline, we expect the development of web interface design which should support more efficient communication on the web.

  • A common problem for manufacturing industries, especially consumer goods industries, is how to establish standardized procedures for loading finished goods onto pallets or containers for subsequent storage and distribution. Utilizing previous research results on the palletizing problem, this paper develops micro-computer based programs which generate an optimum loading pattern leading to the minimum amount of unused pallet or container space. Development of pallet layout chart is also included in the computer programs. The results are displayed by computer-graphic. For the users who are unfamiliar with pallet loading problem and computer system, pull-down menu and user-computer interactive data input procedures are adopted.

Food Styling and Table Designs Applying on Various Tofu Menu (다양한 두부 메뉴의 푸드 스타일링과 테이블 디자인 연구)

  • Purpose: This study aims to develop menu for tofu, which will satisfy a variety of needs of people by harmonizing tofu and other ingredients. Methods: In the present study, the standard recipes were made for tofu menu development by improving the existing recipes like Dubu-seon, Dubu-kimchi, Dubu-jeongol, and Sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew). Based on newly developed recipes, the nutritional analysis was conducted using the analyzing program of the Korean Nutrition Society (CAN-Pro 4.0). Food styling was devised considering the shape and color of plates, layout, and color harmony. Table design was devised empirically employing tablecloth, napkin, dinnerware, glasses, cutlery, centerpiece, and figures. Results: Food styling of Dubu-seon was devised by improving the visual aspect, using Korean traditional five cardinal colors. It turns out that the improvised version of Dubu-seon (prepared following the new recipe) can satisfy 15.1% of amount of recommended dietary fiber intake per day for both male and female adults. In case of Dubu-kimchi, the dish was developed as a one-dish meal by supplementing protein and improving food styling. Beef was added in a form of a meatballs which is especially preferred by children. However, the amount of salt was reduced due to the strong and spicy taste of kimchi itself, resulting in 32% of daily intake of sodium. Dubu-jeongol was also improvised by reducing protein content, and more vegetables were added. Food styling was also improved. Concerning Sundubu-jjigae, protein was supplemented by addition of mushrooms rather than the existing way of adding shellfish. The sodium content was 133.88 mg, which is merely 10% of daily intake. Conclusion: With the new developments in tofu menus, new food styling, and table design, this study aims to contribute towards the rise in sales in the food service industry in terms of being used as basic and critical data.

  • In this paper, Computer Games is still going strong. We are still making incremental improvements to the computer game, mobile game, but it seems to have settled into a fairly standard version and layout. Many games have passed through our life over the past couple of years. A number of the best have been written about in these games. Unfortunately there are too many games and too little time, and make some hard choices about what games actually play regularly. This is obviously a very personal list of favorite games, and change fairly regularly as new games rotate in and old games are given a rest for a while. It brings ours to the question of what we look for in a game, and why choose one game to play over another? What does make a game good enough to play time after time? Therefore, a game has to have, above all, interesting tactics and strategy, but also we like originality and simplicity. There is also a certain quality that is very difficult to define that makes some games beautiful. At last in this issue we return to mobile oriented games. This paper will discuss Computer Game Conditions in terms of the different games, components, and Design amd Implementation of Computer Game Menu Simulation based on 4GL, PowerBuilder.
