The Literatual Study of Kamisoyo-san on Menopausal Disorder (갱년기장애에 활용된 가미소요산(加味逍遙散)의 문헌적 고찰)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to discuss the usage of Kamisoyo-san on menopausal disorder by literatual research. Methods: 33 papers and 47 books about Kamisoyo-san and menopausal disorder were used to develop this article. Results: According to the papers and the books, Soyo-san was first appeared in Taepyungheminhwajegookbang. It was modified to Kamisoyo-san and it has been used to treat menopausal disorder for more than several hundreds of years. There is much evidence of the causes, mechanisms, and symptoms of menopausal disorder corresponding with Kamisoyo-san's indications. Currently, scientific research supports that Kamisoyo-san has many effects on the symptoms of menopausal disorder. Conclusions: Kamisoyo-san is effective on menopausal disorder. We suggest that Kamisoyo-san should be given an insurance code for the treatment of menopausal disorder for the benefits to numerous patients suffering from the disorder.

The Clinical Study of Two Severe Menopausal Disorder Patients Treated by Gamisoyo-san (가미소요산(加味逍遙散)으로 호전된 중증 갱년기 장애 환자 2례에 대한 증례보고)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Gamisoyo-san on severe menopausal disorder patients. Methods : We recruited 2 severe menopausal disorder patients who have been suffering from hot flush and heat sensation. The patients had been administrated Gamisoyo-san. The patients of severe menopausal disorder had been estimated with Kupperman's index(KI), Menopause rating scale(MRS), Beck's depression Inventory(BDI), Visual analogue scale(VAS) and Heart rate variability (HRV). Kupperman's index, Menopause rating scale and Beck's depression inventory for every seven days. We measured VAS everyday. Heart rate variability was estimated twice, before and after treatment. Results : After the treatments, symptoms of menopausal disorder were decreased. Conclusions : This study suggests that Gamisoyo-san is significantly effective on severe menopausal disorder patients with hot flush and heat sensation.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Kamikubi-hwan on menopausal disorder patients. Methods: We surveyed 21 menopausal disorder patients was administered Kamikubi-hwan. The patients of menopausal disorder was estimated twice with Kupperman's index (KI) and Stress response inventory (SRI). Results: After treatment, the mean of KI and SRI score were decreased. Symptoms of menopausal disorder were decreased. Conclusions: This study shows that Kamikubi-hwan is significantly effective on menopausal disorder patients.

  • Purpose: This paper is aim to report the effects of Danchisoyosan-gamibang (丹梔逍遙散加味方) on menopausal disorder Methods: A Woman, 54 years old, who had a menopausal disorder, was enrolled in this study. She received herbal medicine for several months. During the treatments, we requested her to visit hospital every two weeks. If they could not come to hospital, we called her to take follow-up. Results: After the treatments, symptoms of menopausal disorder were decreased. Conclusion: This clinical case indicate that Danchisoyosan-gamibang is effective in treatment of the menopausal disorder progress and relapse of symptoms. More clinical data and studies are requested for the treatment of chronic relapsing cystitis.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Kamisamul-tang / Jia Wei Si Wu Tang / Augmented Four - Substance Decoction on a Menopausal Disorder Patient. This is a clinical report about a 49 year old female patient with a Menopausal Disorder treated by herb medicine, Kamisamul-tang / Jia Wei Si Wu Tang / Augmented Four-Substance Decoction without any other medicine or treatment. Methods: The patient was treated by herb medicine, Kamisamul-tang / Jia Wei Si Wu Tang / Augmented Four - Substance Decoction. The improvement of the patient was judged by Visual Analog Scale. Results The symptoms were gradually reduced and VAS became 1 after 8weeks of treatments, since then the symptoms were not reappearing for 3 months. Conclusions: Herb medicine, Kamisamul-tang / Jia Wei Si Wu Tang / Augmented Four - Substance Decoction is effective to improve a Menopausal Disorder Patient's symptoms. It is necessary to have more observation and many cases of patients with a Menopausal Disorder.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Insamyang-yeongtang on menopausal disorder patients. Methods : We surveyed 15 menopausal disorder patients who had been administered Insamyang-yeongtang. The patients of menopausal disorder had been estimated twice with Kupperman's index. Results : When patients had been not administered Insamyang-yeongtang, the mean of Kupperman's index score are 42.73(SD ${\pm}$19.16). When administered Insamyang-yeongtang, the mean of kupperman's index score are 25.87(SD ${\pm}$19.16). The difference mean of first and last score are 16.87(p-value 0.001). Conclusion : This study suggests that Insamyang-yeongtang is significantly effective on menopausal disorder patients.

The heart rate variability was estimated twice, before and after the treatment. Results : After the treatments, symptoms of menopausal disorder were decreased. Conclusions : This study suggests that Yeongkyekamjo-tang is significantly effective on patients with menopausal disorder as well as palpitation and depression.

  • Purpose: This paper is aim to report that menopausal disorder can be effectively diagnosed and treated by referring to the life event stress of patient. Methods: Researchers got a grip on the life event stress of patient by using medical examinations by interview and compared the conditions of patient before and after treatment by using Kupperman's Index. The prescription of the Gamidangguisu-san hap samhap-tang( Jiaweidangguixu-san he sanhetang) and the Gamisoyo-san (Jiaweixiaoyao-san) and the acupuncture therapy and the moxibustion therapy were used for the treatment. Results: The serious musculoskeletal systemic pains, which includes back pain, lumbago, and myalgia, and other menopausal troubles were improved remarkably. Conclusion: The menopausal disorder could be caused by not only the change of hormone but also complex factors of environmental matters which includes social cultural surroundings, mentality etc. Therefore the life event stress could be one of critical factors of menopausal disorder. The diagnosis and treatment considering the life event stress could be effective method to relieve patient's menopausal disorder.
