With the recent emergence of foldable electronic devices, interest in flexible organic memory is significantly growing. There are three types of flexible organic memory that have been researched so far: floating-gate (FG) memory, ferroelectric field-effect-transistor (FeFET) memory, and resistive memory. Herein, performance parameters and operation mechanisms of each type of memory device are introduced, along with a brief summarization of recent research progress in flexible organic memory.
Objectives: We investigated the effect of acupuncture on memory function in relation with neurogenesis in old rats. Methods: In this study, a step-down avoidance task for short-term memory and Y-maze task for spatial memory capability were conducted. Western blot analysis for brain-derived neurotorphic factor (BDNF) and tyrosine kinase B (TrkB), and immunohistochemistry for 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU) were performed. Results: Short-term memory and spatial memories were decreased in the old-aged rats. Expressions of BDNF and TrkB in the hippocampus were significantly decreased in the old-aged rats. Neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus was also decreased in the old-aged rats. However, acupuncture treatment alleviated impairment of short-term and spatial memories induced by ageing. Acupuncture also increased the expressions of BDNF and TrkB and enhanced neurogenesis in the hippocampus. The present study showed that acupuncture alleviated ageing-induced short-term and spatial memory loss by increasing of BDNF and neurogenesis. Acupuncture at ST41-acupoint showed most potent effect than at ST36-acupoint or non-acupoint. Conclusions: Acupuncture might be used as the effective therapeutic modality to ameliorate the age-related decrease of brain functions.
This experimental research explores the effect of infographic, visual element of TV news, on audience's memory and comprehension. For this experimental research, 2 groups of subjects composed of 87 university students were exposed to two different types of TV news, one group was exposed to news with infographic, the other group was exposed to news without infographic. and questions which were designed to measure recognition memory, recall memory, and comprehension, were asked and analysed. This research found that subjects who watched news with infographic showed higher degree of recall memory and comprehension than those who watched news without infographic. however effect of infographic on audience's recognition memory could not be found.

Knowledge sharing occurs through voluntary interactions between human actors. In this paper, from the perspective of social interaction, the effect of transactive memory capability and social capital (bridging social capital and bonding social capital) on knowledge sharing intention was analyzed, and tenure was demonstrated as a moderating factor that can strengthen their relationship. Therefore, the results of this study are summarized as follows. First, it was verified that the transactive memory capability had a significant positive effect on the knowledge sharing intention. Second, it was found that the bridging social capital and bonding social capital held by individuals had a significant positive effect on knowledge sharing intention. Social capital is understood to form an individual's voluntary motivation for knowledge sharing. Third, it was verified that the moderating effect of tenure suggested in this study was not significant. Based on the results of this study, implications and future research directions were presented.
The effects of the number of Hangul syllable, the nunber/location of batchim in a Hangul word, and compound/noncompound Hangul word on memory span were examined. The results were that (1) the more syllables a word had, the lower us memory span was, (2) the more batchims a two-syllable word had, the lower its memory span was (Korean batchim effect on memory span), (3) noncompound word had higher memory span than compound word. The reading speed of above mentioned words was measured and the results were that (1) the more syllables a word had, the slower its reading speed was, (2) but the reading speed of a two-syllable word was forest when it had a batchim on second syllable than when it had no batchim or had a batchim on first syllable or batchims on both syllables (Korean ending batchim effect on reading speed), (3) noncompound word was read faster thu compound word. Korean ending batchim effect on reading speed was not compatible with the explanation by articulatory loop bur compatible with the explanation by visual cache where the orthographic information was represented. The results suggest that memory span was influenced nor only by phonological information but also by orthographic information.
A new three-dimensional model for predicting the relationship between the prestrain of the composite and the amount of phase transformation of shape memory alloy inducing shape memory effect has been proposed by using Eshelby's equivalent inclusion method with Mori-Tanaka's mean field theory. The model composite is aluminum matrix reinforced with short TiNi fiber shape memory alloy, where the matrix is work-hardening material of power-law type. The analytical results predicted by the current model show that most of the prestrain is induced by the plastic deformation of the matrix, except the small prestrain region. The strengthening mechanism of the composite by the shape memory effect should be explained by excluding its increase of yield stress due to the work-hardening effect of the matrix.

We investigated the dependence of the memory margin of the Cap-less memory cell on the strain of top silicon channel layer and also compared kink effect of strained Cap-less memory cell with the conventional Cap-less memory cell. For comparison of the characteristic of the memory margin of Cap-less memory cell on the strain channel layer, Cap-less transistors were fabricated on fully depleted strained silicon-on-insulator of 0.73-% tensile strain and conventional silicon-on-insulator substrate. The thickness of channel layer was fabricated as 40 nm to obtain optimal memory margin. We obtained the enhancement of 2.12 times in the memory margin of Cap-less memory cell on strained-silicon-on-insulator substrate, compared with a conventional SOI substrate. In particular, much higher D1 current of Cap-less memory cell was observed, resulted from a higher drain conductance of 2.65 times at the kink region, induced by the 1.7 times higher electron mobility in the strain channel than the conventional Cap-less memory cell at the effective field of 0.3MV/cm. Enhancement of memory margin supports the strained Cap-less memory cell can be promising substrate structures to improve the characteristics of Cap-less memory cell.

The thermomechanical behaviors of the shape memory alloy were conducted through the finite element analysis of ABAQUS with UMAT user subroutine. The unified thermomechanical constitutive equation suggested by Lagoudas was adapted into the UMAT user subroutine to investigate the characteristics of the shape memory alloy. The three cases were solved to investigate the thermomechanical characteristics of the shape memory alloy. The material properties for the analysis were obtained by DSC and DMA techniques. According to the results, the thermomechanical characteristics, such as a shape memory effect and a pseudoelastic effect, could be obtained through the finite element analysis and the analysis results were revealed to agree well with the experimental results. Therefore, the finite element analysis using UMAT user subroutine is one of prominent analysis techniques to investigate the thermomechnical behaviors of the shape memory alloy quantitatively.

The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of educational smartphone app with the effect of learning using conventional paper material. We developed an educational app for nursing students to learn how to read blood pressure and how to take a pulse. Evaluated was the effect of the app-based education by measuring the short term memory (right after the education), the long term memory (a week later) and the satisfaction. 25 college nursing students participated for the experiment group using the app-based education and 25 for the control group using paper-based education. We applied for statistical analysis Fisher's exact test and Independent t-test. The satisfaction of the app user's appeared significantly higher than that of the paper material user's (t=2.322, p=0.024). The short term memory score was 0.23 points higher in the experimental group (6.46 points) than in the control group (6.23 points), which was not statistically significant (t =0.422, p =0.675). Similar result came for the long term memory (t=1.006, p=0.320). After adjusting for the effect of a college grade using ANCOVA, the effect on memory was significantly higher in the experiment group. There might be differences in learning ability between the experimental and the control groups.
