  • Essential ideas, successes, and difficulties of Areal Density Analysis (ADA) for color-magnitude diagrams (CMD's) of resolved stellar populations are examined, with explanation of various algorithms and strategies for optimal performance. A CMD-generation program computes theoretical datasets with simulated observational error and a solution program inverts the problem by the method of Differential Corrections (DC) so as to compute parameter values from observed magnitudes and colors, with standard error estimates and correlation coefficients. ADA promises not only impersonal results, but also significant saving of labor, especially where a given dataset is analyzed with several evolution models. Observational errors and multiple star systems, along with various single star characteristics and phenomena, are modeled directly via the Functional Statistics Algorithm (FSA). Unlike Monte Carlo, FSA is not dependent on a random number generator. Discussions include difficulties and overall requirements, such as need for fast evolutionary computation and realization of goals within machine memory limits. Degradation of results due to influence of pixelization on derivatives, Initial Mass Function (IMF) quantization, IMF steepness, low Areal Densities ($\mathcal{A}$), and large variation in $\mathcal{A}$ are reduced or eliminated through a variety of schemes that are explained sufficiently for general application. The Levenberg-Marquardt and MMS algorithms for improvement of solution convergence are contained within the DC program. An example of convergence, which typically is very good, is shown in tabular form. A number of theoretical and practical solution issues are discussed, as are prospects for further development.

  • The yield of OTP devices using anti-fuse MOS capacitor have been affected by the input resistance, the size of the pass transistor and the read transistor, and the readout voltage of programed cell. To investigate the element which gives an effect to yield, we analyze the full map data of the resistance characterization of OTP device and those data in a various experimental condition. As a result, we got the optimum conditions which is necessary to the yield improvement. The optimum conditions are as follows: Input resistance is 50 ohms, the channel length of pass transistor is 10um, read voltage is 2.8 volt, respectively.

  • The efficiency of a synchronous motor can be substantially improved by controlling armature voltage, field excitation, and load angle on optimum values which yield minimum input power at any specified torque and speed. This improvement is particularly noticeable in the case of light loads. In addition, the control of armature input voltage improves the power factor at which the motor operates. Employed in the analysis is a new equivalent circuit model of the motor which incorporates the frequency dependent nature of the motor parameters and the effects of iron loss. The stability of synchronous motor operation is studied by applying the Nyquist stability criterion to the linearized equations which describe the behavior of the motor as the motor loads perturb about a steady-state operating point. This investigation reveals that, in some cases, the stable region of the motor is delineated from the results of a computer simulation. With a view to reducing harmonic loss and improving torque pulsation from harmonic components, a very poweful pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) method using an 16-bit microcomputer has been developed. This method has the advantages of simplicity of control algorithms and requires small memory space for storing thyristor trigger angles for a three-phase PAM inverter. The method can be used for smooth control of both modulation depth and frequency over a wide range.

  • The SliM (sliding memory plane) array processor has been proposed to alleviate disadvantages of existing mesh-connected SIMD(single instruction stream- multiple data streams) array processors, such as the inter-PE(processing element) communication overhead, the data I/O overhead and complicated interconnections. This paper presents the deisgn and implementation of SliM image processor ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) chip consisting of mesh connected 5 X 5 PE. The PE architecture implemented here is quite different from the originally proposed PE. We have performed the front-end design, such as VHDL (VHSIC hardware description language)modeling, logic synthesis and simulation, and have doen the back-end design procedure. The SliM ASIC chip used the VTI 0.8$\mu$m standard cell library (v8r4.4) has 55,255 gates and twenty-five 128 X 9 bit SRAM modules. The chip has the 326.71 X 313.24mil$^{2}$ die size and is packed using the 144 pin MQFP. The chip operates perfectly at 25 MHz and gives 625 MIPS. For performance evaluation, we developed parallel algorithms and the performance results showed improvement compared with existing image processors.

  • This paper describes architectures and design of a SIMD type parallel image processing chip called SliM-II. The chiphas a linear array of 64 processing elements (PEs), operates at 30 MHz in the worst case simulation and gives at least 1.92 GIPS. In contrast to existing array processors, such as IMAP, MGAP-2, VIP, etc., each PE has a multiplier that is quite effective for convolution, template matching, etc. The instruction set can execute an ALU operation, data I/O, and inter-PE communication simulataneously in a single instruction cycle. In addition, during the ALU/multiplier operation, SliM-II provides parallel move between the register file and on-chip memory as in DSP chips, SliM-II can greatly reduce the inter-PE communication overhead, due to the idea a sliding, which is a technique of overlapping inter-PE communication with computation. Moreover, the bandwidth of data I/O and inter-PE communication increases due to bit-parallel data paths. We used the COMPASS$^{TM}$ 3.3 V 0.6.$\mu$m standrd cell library (v8r4.10). The total number of transistors is about 1.5 muillions, the core size is 13.2 * 13.0 mm$^{2}$ and the package type is 208 pin PQ2 (Power Quad 2). The performance evaluation shows that, compared to a existing array processors, a proposed architeture gives a significant improvement for algorithms requiring multiplications.s.

  • Our approach permits to capitalize the expert's knowledge as business rules by using an agent-based platform. The objective of our approach is to allow experts to manage the daily evolutions of business domains without having to use a technician, and to allow them to be implied, and to participate in the development of the application to accomplish the daily tasks of their work. Therefore, the manipulation of an expert's knowledge generates the need for information security and other associated technologies. The notion of cryptography has emerged as a basic concept in business rules modeling. The purpose of this paper is to present a cryptographic algorithm based approach to integrate the security aspect in business rules modeling. We propose integrating an agent-based approach in the framework. This solution utilizes a security agent with domain ontology. This agent applies an encryption/decryption algorithm to allow for the confidentiality, authenticity, and integrity of the most important rules. To increase the security of these rules, we used hybrid cryptography in order to take advantage of symmetric and asymmetric algorithms. We performed some experiments to find the best encryption algorithm, which provides improvement in terms of response time, space memory, and security.

  • In this thesis, we made a sheet to improve the concentration of study. To demonstrate the improvement in the concentration of study, we obtained functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which has superior time resolution and measures brain noninvasively by using intrinsic contrast agent. As a result of Brainwave measurement, we could verify the blood flow's activate in the nearby frontal lobe related to memory process and noticeable ratio change in absolute alpha wave and beta wave after the analysis of Brainwave measurement. fMRI ascertains the physiological function of the brain and is being used to prevent the trouble medically that can be caused before and after the operation. For the visibility of cranial nerve network, many researches will be carried out to develope the product which is related to brain like concentration of study.
