With the development of information and communication technology, DDoS and DRDoS continue to become security issues, and gradually develop into advanced techniques. Recently, IT companies have been threatened with DRDoS technology, which uses protocols from normal servers to exploit as reflective servers. Reflective traffic is traffic from normal servers, making it difficult to distinguish from security equipment and amplified to a maximum of Tbps in real-life cases. In this paper, after comparing and analyzing the DNS amplification and Memcached amplification used in DRDoS attacks, a countermeasure that can reduce the effectiveness of the attack is proposed. Protocols used as reflective traffic include TCP and UDP, and NTP, DNS, and Memcached. Comparing and analyzing DNS protocols and Memcached protocols with higher response sizes of reflective traffic among the protocols used as reflective traffic, Memcached protocols amplify ±21% more than DNS protocols. The countermeasure can reduce the effectiveness of an attack by using the Memcached Protocol's memory initialization command. In future studies, various security-prone servers can be shared over security networks to predict the fundamental blocking effect.

Due to the widespread use of smart devices, threats of direct observation attacks such as shoulder surfing and recording attacks, by which user secrets can be stolen at user interfaces, are increasing greatly. Although formal security models are necessary to evaluate the possibility of and security against those attacks, such a model does not exist. In this paper, based on the previous work in which a HCI cognitive model was firstly utilized for analyzing security, we propose STM-GOMS model as an improvement of GOMS-based model with regard to memory limitations. We then apply STM-GOMS model for analyzing usability and security of a password entry scheme commonly used in smart devices and show the scheme is vulnerable to the shoulder-surfing attack. We finally conduct user experiments to show the results that support the validity of STM-GOMS modeling and analysis.

The Salsa20/12 stream cipher selected for the final eSTREAM portfolio has a better performance than software implementation of AES using an 8-bit microprocessor with restricted memory space, In the theoretical approach, the evaluation of exploitable timing vulnerability was 'none' and the complexity of side-channel analysis was 'low', but there is no literature of the practical result of power analysis attack. Thus we propose the correlation power analysis attack method and prove the feasibility of our proposed method by practical experiments, We used an 8-bit RISC AVR microprocessor (ATmegal128L chip) to implement Salsa20/12 stream cipher without any countermeasures, and performed the experiments of power analysis based on Hamming weight model.

This paper proposes an encryption web transaction attack detection system based on the existing web application monitoring system. Although there was difficulty in detecting attacks on the encrypted web traffic because the existing web traffic security systems detect and defend attacks based on encrypted packets in the network area of the encryption section between the client and server, by utilizing the technology of the web application monitoring system, it is possible to detect various intelligent cyber-attacks based on information that is already decrypted in the memory of the web application server. In addition, since user identification is possible through the application session ID, statistical detection of attacks such as IP tampering attacks, mass web transaction call users, and DDoS attacks are also possible. Thus, it can be considered that it is possible to respond to various intelligent cyber attacks hidden in the encrypted traffic by collecting and detecting information in the non-encrypted section of the encrypted web traffic.

Digital Forensics is gaining popularity in adjudication of criminal cases as use of electronic gadgets in committing crime has risen. Traditional approach to collecting digital evidence falls short when the disk is encrypted. Encryption keys are often stored in RAM when computer is running. An approach to acquire forensic data from RAM when the computer is shut down is proposed. The approach requires that the investigator immediately cools the RAM and transplant it into a host computer provisioned with a tool developed based on cold boot concept to acquire the RAM image. Observation of data obtained from the acquired image compared to the data loaded into memory shows the RAM chips exhibit some level of remanence which allows their content to persist after shutdown which is contrary to accepted knowledge that RAM loses its content immediately there is power cut. Results from experimental setups conducted with three different RAM chips labeled System A, B and C showed at a reduced temperature of -25C, the content suffered decay of 2.125% in 240 seconds, 0.975% in 120 seconds and 1.225% in 300 seconds respectively. Whereas at operating temperature of 25℃, there was decay of 82.33% in 60 seconds, 80.31% in 60 seconds and 95.27% in 120 seconds respectively. The content of RAM suffered significant decay within two minutes without power supply at operating temperature while at a reduced temperature less than 5% decay was observed. The findings show data can be recovered for forensic evidence even if the culprit shuts down the computer.

Containers are an emerging virtualization technology that can build an isolated environment more lightweight and faster than existing virtual machines. For that reason, many organizations have recently adopted them for their services. Yet, the container architecture has also exposed many security problems since all containers share the same OS kernel. In this work, we focus on the fact that an attacker can abuse host resources to make them unavailable to benign containers-also known as host resource exhaustion attacks. Then, we analyze the impact of host resource exhaustion attacks through real attack scenarios exhausting critical host resources, such as CPU, memory, disk space, process ID, and sockets in Docker, the most popular container platform. We propose five attack scenarios performed in several different host environments and container images. The result shows that three of them put other containers in denial of service.
Recently government has distributed precautionary measure and response procedures for smishing(SMS phishing), pharming, phishing, memory hacking and intensified Electronic Financial Transaction Act because of the sharp increase of electronic bank frauds. However, the methods of electronic bank frauds also developed and changed accordingly so much it becomes hard to cope with them. In contrast to earlier voice phishing targeted randomizing object, these new methods find out the personal information of targets and analyze them in detail making a big data base. And they are progressed into new kind of electronic bank frauds using those analyzed informations for voice phishing. This study analyze the attack method of voice phishing blended with the Big Data of personal informations and suggests response procedures for electronic bank frauds increasingly developed. Using the method to save meaningless data in a memory, attackers cannot deduct accurate information and try voice phishing properly even though they obtain personal information based on the Big Data. This study analyze newly developed social technologic attacks and suggests response procedures for them.
In the recent years, power attacks were widely investigated, and so various countermeasures have been proposed. In the case of block ciphers, masking methods that blind the intermediate results in the algorithm computations(encryption, decryption) are well-known. In case of SEED block cipher, it uses 32 bit arithmetic addition and S-box operations as non-linear operations. Therefore the masking type conversion operations, which require some operating time and memory, are required to satisfy the masking method of all non-linear operations. In this paper, we propose a new masked S-boxes that can minimize the number of the masking type conversion operation. Moreover we construct just one masked S-box table and propose a new formula that can compute the other masked S-box's output by using this S-box table. Therefore the memory requirements for masked S-boxes are reduced to half of the existing masking method's one.

In modern warfare, the importance of electronic warfare, which carries out a mission that using radio wave to find out enemy information or to protect ally information, has increased. Radar jamming technique is one of the most representative techniques of EA(Electronic Attack), it disturbs and deceives enemy radar system in order to secure ally location information. Velocity deception jamming technique, which is one of the radar jamming techniques, generally operate against pulse-doppler radar which use doppler effect in order to track target's velocity and location. Velocity Deception Jamming Technique can be implemented using DRFM(Digital Radio Frequency Memory) that performs Frequency Modulation. In this paper, I describe implementation method of VGPO/VGPI(Velocity Gate Pull-Off/Pull-In) velocity deception jamming technique using phase-sampled DRFM, and verify the operation of VGPO/VGPI velocity deception jamming technique with board test under signal injection condition.
The buffer overflow attack is the single most dominant and lethal form of security exploits as evidenced by recent worm outbreaks such as Code Red and SQL Stammer. In this paper, we propose microarchitectural techniques that can detect and recover from such malicious code attacks. The idea is that the buffer overflow attacks usually exhibit abnormal behaviors in the system. This kind of unusual signs can be easily detected by checking the safety of memory references at runtime, avoiding the potential data or control corruptions made by such attacks. Both the hardware cost and the performance penalty of enforcing the safety guards are negligible. In addition, we propose a more aggressive technique called corruption recovery buffer (CRB), which can further increase the level of security. Combined with the safety guards, the CRB can be used to save suspicious writes made by an attack and can restore the original architecture state before the attack. By performing detailed execution-driven simulations on the programs selected from SPEC CPU2000 benchmark, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed microarchitectural techniques. Experimental data shows that enforcing a single safety guard can reduce the number of system failures substantially by protecting the stack against return address corruptions made by the attacks. Furthermore, a small 1KB CRB can nullify additional data corruptions made by stack smashing attacks with only less than 2% performance penalty.
