Recently , there have been considerable researches about the fusion of fuzzy logic and neural networks. The propose of thise researches is to combine the advantages of both. After the function of approximation using GMDP (Generalized Multi-Denderite Product)neural network for defuzzification operation of fuzzy controller, a new fuzzy-neural network is proposed. Fuzzy membership function of the proposed fuzzy-neural network can be adjusted by learning in order to be adaptive to the variations of a parameter or the external environment. To show the applicability of the proposed fuzzy-nerual network, the proposed model is applied to a speed control o fDC sevo motor. By the hardware implementation, we obtained the desriable results.
Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) are capable of modelling information with more uncertainties in decision-making problems. The essential feature of PFSs is that they are described by three parameters: membership function, non-membership function and hesitant margin, with the total of the squares of each parameter equal to one. The purpose of this article is to suggest some new similarity measures and weighted similarity measures for PFSs. Numerical computations have been carried out to validate our proposed measures. Applications of these measures have been applied to some real-life decision-making problems of pattern detection and medicinal investigations. Moreover, a descriptive illustration is employed to compare the results of the proposed measures with the existing analogous similarity measures to show their effectiveness.

This paper concerns Fuzzy Radial Basis Function Neural Network (FRBFNN) and automatic rule generation of extraction of the FRBFNN by means of mountain clustering. In the proposed network, the membership functions of the premise part of fuzzy rules do not assume any explicit functional forms such as Gaussian, ellipsoidal, triangular, etc., so its resulting fitness values (degree of membership) directly rely on the computation of the relevant distance between data points. Also, we consider high-order polynomial as the consequent part of fuzzy rules which represent input-output characteristic of sup-space. The number of clusters and the centers of clusters are automatically generated by using mountain clustering method based on the density of data. The centers of cluster which are obtained by using mountain clustering are used to determine a degree of membership and weighted least square estimator (WLSE) is adopted to estimate the coefficients of the consequent polynomial of fuzzy rules. The effectiveness of the proposed model have been investigated and analyzed in detail for the representative nonlinear function.

In this study, the second-order Nomoto's nonlinear expansion model was implemented as a Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model based on the heading angular velocity to design the automatic steering system of a ship considering nonlinear elements. A Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy PID controller was designed using the applied fuzzy membership functions from the Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model. The linear models and fuzzy membership functions of each operating point of a given nonlinear expansion model were simultaneously tuned using a genetic algorithm. It was confirmed that the implemented Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model could accurately describe the given nonlinear expansion model through the Zig-Zag experiment. The optimal parameters of the sub-PID controller for each operating point of the Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model were searched using a genetic algorithm. The evaluation function for searching the optimal parameters considered the route extension due to course deviation and the resistance component of the ship by steering. By adding a penalty function to the evaluation function, the performance of the automatic steering system of the ship could be evaluated to track the set course without overshooting when changing the course. It was confirmed that the sub-PID controller for each operating point followed the set course to minimize the evaluation function without overshoot when changing the course. The outputs of the tuned sub-PID controllers were combined in a weighted average method using the membership functions of the Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model. The proposed Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy PID controller was applied to the second-order Nomoto's nonlinear expansion model. As a result of examining the transient response characteristics for the set course change, it was confirmed that the set course tracking was satisfactorily performed.

This paper is concerned with the problem of speaker-adaptive speech synthes is method using a mapped codebook designed by fuzzy mapping on FLVQ (Fuzzy Learning Vector Quantization). The FLVQ is used to design both input and reference speaker's codebook. This algorithm is incorporated fuzzy membership function into the LVQ(learning vector quantization) networks. Unlike the LVQ algorithm, this algorithm minimizes the network output errors which are the differences of clas s membership target and actual membership values, and results to minimize the distances between training patterns and competing neurons. Speaker Adaptation in speech synthesis is performed as follow;input speaker's codebook is mapped a reference speaker's codebook in fuzzy concepts. The Fuzzy VQ mapping replaces a codevector preserving its fuzzy membership function. The codevector correspondence histogram is obtained by accumulating the vector correspondence along the DTW optimal path. We use the Fuzzy VQ mapping to design a mapped codebook. The mapped codebook is defined as a linear combination of reference speaker's vectors using each fuzzy histogram as a weighting function with membership values. In adaptive-speech synthesis stage, input speech is fuzzy vector-quantized by the mapped codcbook, and then FCM arithmetic is used to synthesize speech adapted to input speaker. The speaker adaption experiments are carried out using speech of males in their thirties as input speaker's speech, and a female in her twenties as reference speaker's speech. Speeches used in experiments are sentences /anyoung hasim nika/ and /good morning/. As a results of experiments, we obtained a synthesized speech adapted to input speaker.
Statistical landslide susceptibility analysis, which is widely used among various landslide susceptibility analysis approaches, predicts the unstable area by analyzing statistical relationship between landslide occurrence locations and landslide controlling factors. However, uncertainties are involved in the procedures of the susceptibility analysis and therefore, fuzzy approach has been used to deal properly with uncertainties. The fuzzy approach used fuzzy set theory and fuzzy membership function to quantify uncertainties involved in landslide controlling factors. Various fuzzy approaches were suggested in the procedure of the membership value determination and fuzzy operation in the previous researches. However, few studies were carried out to compare the analysis results obtained from various approaches for membership function determination and fuzzy operation. Therefore, in this study, the authors selected Jinbu area, which a large number of landslides were occurred at in 2006, to apply two most commonly used methods, the frequency ratio and the cosine amplitude method to derive membership values for each controlling factor. In addition, the integration of different thematic layers to produce landslide susceptibility map was performed by several fuzzy operators such as AND, OR, algebraic product, algebraic sum and Gamma operator. The results of the landslide susceptibility analysis using two different methods for the determination of fuzzy membership values and various fuzzy operators were compared on the basis of ROC graph to check the feasibility of the fuzzy based landslide susceptibility analysis.
Pattern recognition process is made up of the feature extraction in the pre-processing, the pattern clustering by training and the recognition process. This paper presents the F-LVQ (Fuzzy Learning Vector Quantization) pattern classification model which is optimized by the fuzzy membership function for the OCR(Optical Character Recognition) system. We trained 220 numeric patterns of 22 Hangul and English fonts and tested 4840 patterns whose forms are changed variously. As a result of this experiment, it is proved that the proposed model is more effective and robust than other typical LVQ models.

In this paper, a fuzzy traffic controller using genetic algorithms is presented. Conventional fuzzy traffic controllers use membership functions generated by humans. However, this approach does not guarantee the optimal solution to design the fuzzy controller. Genetic algorithm is a good problem solving method requiring domain-specific knowledge that is often heuristic. To find fuzzy membership functions showing good performance, a fitness function must be defined. However it's not easy in traffic control to define such a function as a numeric expression. Thus, we use simulation approach, namely, the fitness value of a solution is determined by use of a performance measure that is obtained by traffic simulator. The proposed method outperforms the conventional fuzzy controllers.

A fuzzy modeling method is proposed to build the dynamic model of a walking-beam reheating furnace from the recorded data. In the proposed method, the number of membership function on each variable is increased individually and the modeling accuracy is evaluated iteratively. When the modeling accuracy is satisfied, the membership functions on each variable are fixed and the structure of fuzzy model is determined. Because the training data is limited, in this process, as the number of membership function increase, it is highly possible that some rules are missing, i.e., no data in the training set corresponds to the consequent part of a missing rule. To complete the rulebase, the output of the model constructed at the previous step is used to generate the consequent part of the missing rules. Finally, in the real time application, a rolling update scheme to rulebase is introduced to compensate the change of system dynamics and fine tune the rulebase. The proposed method is verified by the application to the modeling of a reheating furnace.
