The slime flounder Microstomus achne were caught at Geomun Island, Yosu-si, Jeollanamdo from January to March in 2006. The fertilized eggs were observed for morphological development of egg, embryo and larva. Eggs were colorless transparent, separative pelagic, absent of oil globule, and the diameter was 1.64${\pm}$0.03 mm (n=50). The eggs were hatched at 168 hours 40 minutes after fertilization in the range of $9.8\sim13.0^{\circ}C$ (mean $11.4{\pm}1.6^{\circ}C$). Total length of newly hatched larva was 4.05${\pm}$0.18 mm (n=20). The larva had developed membranous fin showing waterdrop-shaped structure, and their mouth and anus were not open. The myotomes were 14~15+33~34=47~49. The egg yolks were 1.64${\pm}$0.12 mm in major axis, and 1.23${\pm}$0.19 mm in minor axis. At 12 days after hatching, the total length was 7.32${\pm}$0.42 mm(n=20). The egg yolk was completely absorbed and transferred to post larval stage. Star-shaped melanophores and branch-shaped xanthophores in the edge of membranous fin were more densed. Chrysanthemum-shaped melanophores in the notochord were densed and formed 4~5 melanophore bands. At 90~93 days after hatching, morphological features of the larva, 19.91${\pm}$1.63 mm TL(n=20), were transferred to juvenile stage showing similar features with those of the adult fish.

This study was conducted, based on the field survey and laboratory observations, to elucidate egg developmental processes and their characteristics of the Korean slender gudgeon, Squalidus gracilis majimae. For the experiments, the mature adults were collected at the Woongcheon-Cheon Stream and Boreung Reservoir located in Boreung City, Chungnam Province and eggs were obtained from the natural spawning area. Morphological characteristics of the egg and embryonic development were summarized as follows: The shape of the fertilized egg was spherical, adhesive and transparent. The fertilized egg was 2.9${\pm}$0.3 mm (n = 30) in mean diameter under water temperature of $26{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$, light white in color and had no oil droplets. After 20 minutes from the time of fertilization, a blastodisc was formed and divided into two cells at 48 minutes after fertilization. The blastular stage occurred at 5 hours 40 minutes after fertilization and the gastrular stage was detected at 8 hours 41 minutes after fertilization. The beginning of embryo formation was observed at 12 hours 58 minutes after fertilization and optic vesicles and 9 somites were discovered at 17 hours 05 minutes after fertilization. Differentiation of brains and embryo wiggling were observed at 37 hours 27 minutes after fertilization. Heart beating and the formation of melanophores in optic vesicles were detected at 44 hours 46 minutes after fertilization. The formation of pectoral fins and melanophores in the body were discovered at 50 hours 36 minutes after fertilization. Hatching occurred at 57 hours 49 minutes after fertilization. The newly hatched larvae were 3.3${\pm}$0.2 mm (n = 120) in total length. We believe that these results may contribute the species and population conservations under the situation of accelerated water pollution and the decreases of its diversity.

This study aims to contribute to the research on resource recovery for the rapidly declining population of Liparis tanakae by observing the larval development process and the morphology of juveniles based on their growth. Natural spawning eggs collected in Yeosu were used for observing the process of egg development and larval morphology. The water temperature during the rearing process was maintained at 12.3~13.5℃ (average 12.7℃). The fertilized eggs had an egg diameter ranging from 1.57 to 1.79 mm (average 1.71 mm) and were spherical and adhesive. Within 4 hours 35 minutes after fertilization, they reached the two-cell stage, and after 74 hours 10 minutes, the formation of the yolk sac began. At 106 hours post-fertilization, a caudal fin appeared at the tail tip. Hatching began at 526 hours, and the larvae developed with the yolk sac positioned just behind the eyes. The newly hatched larvae had both the mouth and anus open. Melanophores appeared inside the lower jaw and around the tail on the third day after hatching. By the 16th day after hatching, most of the yolk was absorbed, and melanophores were visible in the head region. Finally, on the 63rd day after hatching, the head region significantly developed, and the body shape and mouth were similar to those of an adult fish, signifying the transition to the juvenile stage. This study will serve as valuable data for aquaculture techniques related to the conservation and restoration of fish species based on the hatching and juvenile morphology of Liparis tanakae.
Rockfish, Sebastes inermis is a ovoviviparous fish distributed around the coastal waters of Korea and Japan. Naturally beared larvae obtained from female fish kept in the aquarium were reared for three months in the laboratory. The naturally healed larvae were 6.05mm in average total length(TL) with $8+18{\sim}19=26{\sim}27$ myomeres. Melanophores were distributed on the top of head, around the intestine tube and on the dorsal and ventral margins of the tail, but none on the pectoral fins. The larva(7.1mm in TL) consumed all the yolk and oil globule, in 7 days after bearing, and jaw bones were more rapidly ossified than vertebrae and cranium. In 21 days after bearing, the larvae averaged 8.50mm in TL and the caudal notochord flex $45^{\circ}$. Fin development in S. inermis larvae proceeds in the following sequence: caudal, pectoral, dorsal, anal and ventral fin. Individuals $17.6{\sim}20.8mm$ in TL($65{\sim}69$ days after bearing) are regarded as the juvenile stage. All fins bones was nearly completed in this stage.

Morphological changes in eggs and larvae of spotted knifejaw, Oplegnathus punctatus were observed by cultivation of fertilized eggs to juvenile stage. Fertilized egg was demersal and transparent. The egg has one oil glouble and its size ranged 1.01~1.15 mm ($1.08{\pm}0.10mm$; $mean{\pm}SD$, n=20). Culture chambers were maintained $22.5{\sim}24.5^{\circ}C$ in water temperature and 33.5~34.5ppt in salinity. It took 25 mins from fertilization to the blastoderm stage, 55 mins to 2 cell stage and 20 hrs 50 mins to hatching. Newly hatched yolksac larvae ranged 2.59~3.02 mm ($2.81{\pm}0.25mm$, n=5) in total length, and mouth and anus were not still open. Yolk and oil globule were absorbed 2 days after hatching (DAH). Flexion larvae in 12 DAH ranged 3.02~3.07 mm TL ($3.04{\pm}0.04mm$), and the caudal fin grew to fan-shaped, melanophores appeared on top of digestive canal.
The eggs of Luciogobius grandis attached beneath the small stone were collected at Ocheon-dong, Yeosu-city from February to May, 2006. We carried them to the laboratory of Chonnam National University to investigate their development. The fertilized eggs were elliptical in shape (mean long axis: $2.06{\pm}0.23\;mm$; mean short axis: $0.74{\pm}0.04\;mm$) and transparent. There were filaments on the egg membrane. Their hatching was occurred at 120hrs 54mins after the morula stage at $18.4{\sim}21.0^{\circ}C$ (mean $19.4^{\circ}C$). The newly hatched larvae were $3.30{\pm}0.07\;mm$ (n=30) in total length (TL), with $34{\sim}36$ myotomes, and their mouth and auns were already open. Their melanophores were appeared over the gas globule, around the anus and a part of caudal peduncle. At 9 days after hatching, the larvae was $5.06{\pm}0.18\;mm$ (n=30) in TL and transformed to postlarval stage with yolk absorption. At 29 days after hatching, the larvae attained full fin ray count and reached the juvenile stage with $11.46{\pm}0.12\;mm$ (n=30) in TL.

Naturally beared larvae obtained from female fish kept in the aquarium were reared for 45 days in the laboratory. The naturally beared larvae were 3.19 mm in average total length (TL) with 9+15~16=24~25 myomeres. Melanophores were distributed on the dorsal margin of intestine tube, ventral margins of the tail and around the oil globule, but none on the top of head and on the pectoral fins. The larva (3.35 mm TL) consumed all yolk and oil globule in 5 days after bearing, and jaw bones and clavicle began to be ossified rapidly. In 22 days after bearing, the larvae averaged 6.30 mm TL and the caudal notochord flex $45^{\circ}C$. Fin development in S. marmoratus larvae proceeds in the following sequence : caudal, pectoral, dorsal, anal and ventral fin.
The right eye flounders, Limanda yokohamae Gunther widely distributed in the coastal waters of Korea and Japan. On Feburuary 3, 1983, the authors obtained a number of artificial fertilized eggs from the adult fishes(male: 285mm in total length; female: 297mm) caught by a trawl. The eggs of this species is demersal and adhesive, and the diameter of these eggs was varied in $0.71{\sim}0.80mm$. The egg capsule is colorless and transparent, and the eggs do not contain any oil globules, The hatching took place in 120 hour after fertilization at the water temperature $5.5{\sim}17.0^{\circ}C$. The newly hatched larvae were $2.64{\sim}2.72mm$ in total length with long trunk. Myotome number was $9{\sim}10+30{\sim}32=39{sim}42$ and yellowish brown melanophores were appeared. In 3 days after hatching out. The larvae attained 3.3mm in total length, and the mouth began to move. Xanthophore appeared also on the opereulum at this time. After 7 days the larvae attained 3.70mm in total length, and became the postlarvae absorbing the yolk completely.
On January 16, 1986, mature adults of smooth lumpsucker, Aptocyclus ventricosus (Pallas) were collected from the coastal water of Okkye, Myongju-gun, Kangwon-do, Korea. The authors carried out artificial insemination on the boat. The eggs were incubated and the larvae were reared in laboratory. During the incubation period water temperature fluctuated between $7.5^{\circ}C$ and $21.4^{\circ}C$. The eggs of smooth lumpsucker are demersal and adhesive. The eggs diameters were varied from 2.28 to 2.36 mm. The hatching took place in ca. 725 hours after fertilization. The newly hatched larvae were 6.0-6.9 mm in total length. The features of the hatched larvae lie in the tadpole-like body form and in the well developed sucking disk, namely the ventral fins. 17 days after hatching, the larva attained 9.1 mm in total length. The gill opening retained a small opening at its upper part. Melanophores were developed on the tail. 31 days after hatching, the larva attained 10.6 mm in total length, and became juvenile. The first dorsal fin was disappeared. 105 days after hatching, the larvae attained 15.4-17.5 mm in total length.
Bluegill, Lepomis macrochirus RAFINESQUE, has bred widely in the various districts of Korea since the Office of Fishery transplanted it into our country from Japan in December, 1969. On August 17, 24 in 1985, bluegill were caught in the reservoir of Habuk-Myon, Yangsan-Gun, $Ky\breve{o}ngsangam-Do$, Korea. They spawned in the rearing aquarium on July 13 and August 2 in 1986. The eggs of this species are adhesive and demersal. The size of the egg diameters were varied from 1.18 to 1.30 mm. Hatching took place in 40 hours after fertilization at the water temperature of $24.3-25.4^{\circ}C$. The newly botched larvae were 3.75-4.05 mm in total length possessing yolk sac, and 29-30 mytomes. Many melanophores were evenly distributed on the entire body. Ten days after hatching, the postlarvae attained 6.05-6.35 mm in total length. The yolk sac was completely absorbed and the width of the pectoral finfold had reached the maximum size. One month fifteen days after hatching, the juvenile attained 25.20 mm in total length.
