  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors which affect the quality of nursing services and intention to revisit as perceived by hospitalized patients and nurses in medium sized urban hospitals. Methods: The SERVQUAL scale, a measurement of overall nursing services and intention to revisit a medical institution, was used. The sample consisted of 223 patients and 239 nurses from four medium sized hospitals in I city. Frequencies, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and Stepwise method regression were used to analyze the data. Results: For expectation, nurse and patient perceptions were similar, but for performance, patient perception was significantly higher than nurse perception for five factors. The factors affecting intention to revisit the hospital were those recommending, satisfaction with medical and nursing services. Conclusion: The findings indicate that differences between expectations and performance for both patients and nurses need to be reduced in order to elevate patient satisfaction. A precondition for intention to revisit and increased satisfaction is the development of marketing strategies as well as intervention programs in nursing.

  • The effects of strain amplitude. test temperature and stress on the fatigue properties for Ti-Ni wires were investigated using a rotary bending fatigue tester specially designed for wires. The fatigue test results were discussed in connection with the static tensile properties. The DSC measurement was conducted after fatigue test in order to clarify the change of transformation behavior due to the progress of fatigue. Under the temperature below or near the Af, the strain amplitude($\varepsilon_a$)-failure life (Nf) curve showed to be composed of three straight lines with two turning points. Of the 2 turning points, the upper one was coincident with the elastic limit strain and the lower one with the proportional limit strain. With rising of the test temperature above Af, the pattern of $\varepsilon_a$-Nf curve changed gradually to composition of 2 straight lines. The $\varepsilon_a$-Nf curve shifted depending on test temperature. In the short and medium life zones, the higher the temperature was, the shorter the fatigue life. However, in the long life zone, above the Af temperature, the fatigue life was not affected by the temperature. The transformation enthalpy measured after fatigue test was dependent on Nf, $\varepsilon_a$, and test temperature.

  • In assay of antifungal activity of fatty acids which slightly soluble in water against phytopathogenic fungi in vitro, it is necessary that evenly disperse fatty acid to assay in culture medium for mycelial growth or spore germination of test fungus. Acetone was selected as a dispersant in such an in vitro test because it is not only used as a solvent for fats, oils and waxes but also miscible with water. In this study to detect practically usable concentration of acetone in culture medium for test fungus, the results showed that both mycelial growth and spore germination of each test fungus were significantly inhibited on the culture media with 10% of acetone, while they were slightly inhibited on the culture media with 5% of acetone. Even though both mycelial growth and spore germination were influenced on the culture media with 5% of acetone, it is not considered that the use of culture medium with 5% of acetone make a mistake in assay of antifungal activity of fatty acids against phytopathogenic fungi.

  • The welding has a high proportion of the production and drying of ships or offshore plants. Non-destructive testing is carried out to verify the quality of welds in Korea, radiography test (RT) is mainly used. Currently, most shipyards adopt analog-type techniques to print the films through the shoot of welding parts. Therefore, the time required from radiography test to pass or fail judgment is long and complex, and is being manually carried out by qualified inspectors. To improve this problem, this paper covers a platform for scanning and digitalizing RT films occurring in shipyards with high resolution, accumulating them in management servers, and applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect welding defects. To do this, we describe the process of designing and developing RT film scanning equipment, welding inspection information integrated management platform, fault reading algorithms, visualization software, and testing and verification of each developed element in conjunction.

  • To evaluate the fertilizing capacity of domestic animal spermatozoa by hamster test, semen were collected from 15 boars(Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire) and 2 mixed dogs which had been proved to be fertile in the past then, the semen were preserved in BWW medium at $4^{\circ}C$ or $18^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and coincubated with zona-free hamster ova for 5 hours. The ova were stained by lacmoid and examined under phase contrast microscope to investigate the rates of sperm binding to the ova, penetration and formation of a male pronucleus, and the numbers of both bound and penetrated sperm per ovum. Both the semen preserved at $18^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and that treated by swim up procedure showed considerably higher rates of sperm binding and penetration as well as higher number of penetrated sperm than that preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours, respectively(p<0.01). Motility of boar sperm at insemination was from 40 to 90% and no difference in hamster test was obtained according to different degree of sperm motility. Abnormality in morphology of boar sperm at insemination was from 6 to 45% and no difference in hamster test was obtained according to different degree of sperm abnormality. The sperm concentrations of $7{\times}10^7$ and $7{\times}10^6$ showed considerably higher rates of sperm binding and penetration as well as higher number of bound sperm than that of $7{\times}10^4$ (p<0.01) along with the same higher results than that of $7{\times}10^5$(0<0.05), respectively. Boar sperm showed considerably higher rates of sperm binding and penetration as well as higher numbers of both bound and penetrated sperm than dog sperm, when both semen were treated by BWW+heparin medium and swim up procedure, respectively. These results indicated that fertile boar sperm showed considerably lower rates in the results of hamster test, when preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and in lower concentration of sperm than when preserved at $18^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and in higher concentration of sperm, respectively, and at the same time considerably higher results than fertile dog sperm, consequently to prove that hamster test would be of great value in assaying the fertilizing capacity of boar sperm.

  • This study examined the relationship between the number of medical technologists and the medical test count. Data was obtained from 441 medical technologists in a hospital through a self-reported questionnaire. The Pearson correlation test, student's t-test, ANOVA or descriptive statistics were performed for data analysis. The distribution of medical technologist according to the size of hospitals was small 5.8, medium 14.9, large 25.8, and super 45.4. The analysis demonstrated a relationship between the number of medical technologists and the number of medical tests in the field, number of clinical tests per MT, and number of optimal medical test per MT according to the hospital size (P<0.001). The average time for quality control by the department at a higher hospital was less than two hours. In terms of the satisfaction of salary, work environment, test accomplishment, and welfare service, the dissatisfaction of medical technologists in small and medium hospitals was higher than those in large and super hospitals. Overall, a focus on intensifying systemic supplementation and improving the condition of medical technologists is needed to provide reliable data for medical examinations in medical areas.

  • Purpose : The Dipslide culture test is a rapid method for diagnosis of urinary tract infection (UTI). The aim of this study is to determine the diagnostic availability of a urine Dipslide test for evaluation of UTI in febrile children. Methods : Urine specimens from 151 febrile infants were inoculated by a routine blood agar urine culture method and the Dipslide test at the same time. Following incubation for 16-24 hours, the results of the Dipslide test were read at the next visit. Both results of Dipslide and those of routine culture were compared. Results : The mean age of subjects was 15${\pm}$10.6 months. There were 150 infants (99.3%) who had fever with a mean duration of 2.6${\pm}$2.6 days. Thirty two infants (21.2%) were diagnosed as having UTI. Sensitivity and specificity of Uricult Trio CLED medium were 59.4% and 84.8%, respectively. Sensitivity and specificity of Uricult Trio E. coli medium were 60.0% and 96.2%, respectively. The Pearson correlation coefficient between results of Uricult Trio CLED medium and urine culture was 0.438 (P=0.01). Correlation between results of Uricult Trio E. coli medium and urine culture was 0.617 (P=0.01). Conclusion : The Dipslide test requires only 16-24 hours with high specificity in terms of UTI caused by E. coli without the problems associated with specimen delay. This test seems to be helpful for exclusion of UTI in febrile infants and it may reduce unnecessary hospitalization and antibiotic use. However, further studies are required before the product can be recommended as a routine diagnostic tool.

  • This study was done to evaluate whether there were any differences in microleakage of class V composite restorations according to restoration site and cavity size. Total sixty-four restorations were made in molar teeth using Esthet-X. Small ($2\;{\times}\;2\;{\times}\;1.5\;mm$) and large ($4{\times}2{\times}1.5\;mm$) restorations were made at the buccal/lingual surface and the proximal surface each. After 1,000 times of thermocycling ($5^{\circ}\;-\;55^{\circ}C$), resin replica was made and the percentage of marginal gap to the whole periphery of the restoration was estimated from SEM evaluation. Thermocycled tooth was dye penetrated with $50\%$ silver nitrate solution. After imbedding in an auto-curing resin, it was serially ground with a thickness of 0.25 mm. Volumetric microleakage was estimated after reconstructing three dimensionally. Two-way ANOVA and independent T-test for dye volume, Mann-Whitney U test for the percentage of marginal gap, Spearman's rho test for the relationship between two techniques were used, The results were as follows : 1. The site and size of the restoration affected on the microleakage of restoration. Namely, much more leakage was seen in the proximal and the large restorations rather than the buccal/lingual and the small restorations. 2. Close relationship was found between two techniques (Correlation coefficient = 0.614/ P = 0.000). Within the limits of this study, it was noted that proximal and the large restorations leaked more than buccal/lingual and the small restorations. Therefore, it should be strictly recommended large exposure of margins should be avoided by reducing unnecessary tooth reduction.

  • This paper is designed to estimate the adhesion strength of coating layer on galvannealed steel sheet using lap shear test. The single lap shear test is the most commonly used standard test for determining the strength of medium-strength and high strength bonds. The bond strength of bonded single lap joints on subjecting the substrates to loads is determined by lap shear forces in the direction of the bonded joint. In this study, specimen for adhesion strength test was made to attach coated sheet to cold rolled sheet and were heated in temperature of 180 for 20minutes. After test, detached parts of coatings on coated sheet were observed using SEM and EDX to identify substrate and complete detachment. The tested results showed that adhesive strength of coating is unrelated to anisotropy of sheet and is difficult to be extracted using conventional theory because of fine cracks of coating layers which were created during annealing process.
