  • As the development of medical technology and the elevation of the standard of living, the population rate of elderly people in Korea is increasing gradually. To keep a good lift quality of the elderly, both appropriate exercise and nutrients intake are necessary for them. Dairy products are known for the good source of variable nutrients including functional components and bioactive peptides such as Ig, lactoferrin, MFGM, OPP, CPP, GMP, sialic acid etc that are required especially for elderly people. However, they are classified as the low dairy products consumption group recently. For the promotion of dairy product consumption of elderly people, variable and specialized dairy products for the elderly should be researched and developed with the strengthened publicity activities.

  • By using LED optical devices and improving the efficiency of optical devices as well as lighting apparatus for humans, LED lighting industry puts the purpose of manufacturing the main products related with information, electric, large-sized LCD BLU, automobile, shipbuilding, agriculture, medical treatment, environment, and telecommunications, etc. Moreover, the main products and the industrial lighting products are manufactured with fusion, as the result, LED lighting industry provides various effects as well as sources of technology based on practical use of LED technology in order to develop the industry from the perspective of the lower price, the higher efficiency, the higher function, the deeper reliance. In the future, not only the development of new LED technology but also the fusion and combination of digital IT technologies using wire-wireless communication, sensor, controller, and artificial intelligence will be expected to create new industrial fields.

  • Gene therapy is becoming a very promising and feasible medical intervention as the understanding of human diseases extends to their molecular levels. Since the first US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved human gene therapy protocol was approved in 1990, over 300 human clinical trial protocols had been approved worldwide so far. Even though some of the domestic gene therapy clinical trials also proved promising and more are awaiting, it should be emphasized that many safety aspects as well as effectiveness aspects should be considered during the development process. Moreover, there seems to be less restricted guidelines from the National Control Authority (NCA) in initiating human clinical trials. This article is intended to suggest some basis and points to consider in the development and evaluation of gene therapy products including antisense oligonucleotides pharmaceuticals.

  • Excretory-secretory products (ESP) of T. vaginalis have been shown to inhibit sperm motility, viability, and functional integrity, leading to a decreased fertilization rate in vitro. This study investigated whether T. vaginalis induce apoptosis and ultrastructural changes of sperm using flow cytometry and electron microscopy. Incubation of sperm with T. vaginalis ESP increased phosphatidylserine externalization and DNA fragmentation, and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential. Transmission electron microscopy of sperm incubated with ESP revealed abnormal features such as distorted heads, broken necks, and acrosomes exocytosis. This is the first report that demonstrates a direct impact of T. vaginalis ESP on sperm apoptosis and architecture in vitro.

  • This study investigates the impact of perceived risk, perceived deception, and negative emotional factors on consumer distrust, dissatisfaction, and boycott intentions towards both YouTubers and products that fail to adequately disclose paid advertisements, commonly referred to as "hidden advertisement." Conducted through an online survey, 306 YouTube viewers from South Korea participated in the study. The findings reveal several key insights. Firstly, perceived deception, perceived risk, and negative emotional factors are identified as contributors to increased consumer distrust and dissatisfaction. Secondly, both consumer distrust and dissatisfaction exhibit positive correlations with boycott intentions towards YouTubers and products. This research seeks to unravel the intricacies of online consumer boycott intentions and aims to elucidate the underlying reasons behind such actions. It is noteworthy that in this context, the ramifications of boycotts extend beyond influencers or YouTubers alone, impacting consumer distrust and dissatisfaction, thereby influencing boycott intentions towards the associated products and exerting a lasting impact on a company's branding efforts.

  • Data released by the National Fire Agency showed that the total incidence of fires from 2014 to 2023 was 410,497, among which 75,215 were house fires, constituting 18% of the total occurrences. The fatalities resulting from house fires numbered 1,435. Fatalities stemming from prior house fires occurred between midnight and 6 am, coinciding with periods of sleep and diminished responsiveness to fire emergencies. A fire safety labeling system is proposed to prevent fire hazards associated with household products. This system primarily entails indicators of thermal energy and inherent fire attributed to household products. Furthermore, the Korea Fire Safety Institute has suggested adopting a risk label as a concrete measure plan for implementing the fire safety labeling system for household products. The results promise to safeguard the public against fires and increase the exports of household commodities by enhancing the corporate reputation through positive association with fire safety measures.

  • Toll-like receptors (TLRs), which are pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and regulate the activation of innate immunity. All TLR signaling pathways culminate in the activation of NF-${\kappa}B$, leading to the induction of inflammatory gene products such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). Parthenolide, a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from the herb feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium), has been used as folk remedies to treat many chronic diseases for many years. In the present report, we present biochemical evidence that parthenolide inhibits the NF-${\kappa}B$ activation induced by TLR agonists and the overexpression of downstream signaling components of TLRs, MyD88, $IKK{\beta}$, and p65. Parthenolide also inhibits TLR agonists-induced COX-2 and iNOS expression. These results suggest that parthenolide can modulate the immune responses regulated by TLR signaling pathways.
