In Line Plastic-Optical-Fiber Temperature Sensor

  • In this paper, we present an in line plastic-optical-fiber (POF) temperature sensor based on intensity modulation. The in line POF temperature sensor is composed of a POF, including an in-fiber micro hole filled with reversible thermochromic material, the transmittance of which depends on temperature. The reversible thermochromic material was cobalt chloride/polyvinyl butyral gel. A cobalt chloride solution of concentration 30.8 mM was formulated using 10% water/90% ethanol (v/v) solution, and gelled by dissolving polyvinyl butyral in this solution. Four types of in line POF sensors, with in line micro holes of four different diameters, were fabricated to measure temperature in the range of 25 to 75 ℃. The output optical power of all of these in line POF temperature sensors was inversely proportional to the temperature; the relation between output power and temperature was approximately linear, and the sensitivity was proportional to the diameter of the in-fiber micro hole. The experimental results indicate that an in line POF sensor can be used effectively for measuring moderate temperatures.

  • 본 연구에서는 센서의 표면적 변화에 따른 입체적 호흡수 센서의 센싱 방식을 제안하고, 직물 기반의 입체적 호흡수 센서의 성능 평가 및 의복에 적용할 수 있는 디자인 방향성을 탐색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 입체적 구조의 차이에 따라 2가지 유형의 입체적 호흡수 센서를 제작하고 더미와 인체 대상으로 연구를 실시하였다. 연구I은 더미 대상 실험으로 센서의 유형 및 호흡 속도의 연구변인에 의해 입체적 호흡수 센서의 측정 가능성을 탐색하였다. 연구II는 7명의 20대 남성을 대상 실험으로 연구I의 연구변인 이외에 3개의 측정 위치별 적합한 유형의 센서를 제안하였다. 입체적 호흡수 센서의 정확도, 재현성, 신뢰도를 평가하기 위해, 의료기기 분야의 대표적 웨어러블 호흡수 센서인 BIOPAC을 사용하여 입체적 호흡수 센서와 동시에 호흡수를 측정하였다. 이상의 연구 결과를 통해 더미 대상으로 입체적 호흡수 센서의 측정 가능성을 탐색하였으며, 인체 대상으로 호흡수를 측정하여 측정 위치별 적합한 유형의 센서를 제안하였다.

초음파와 전기전도 센서를 이용한 우레아 탱크 수위, 농도 및 온도의 동시 측정 방안 (Simultaneous Measurement of Liquid-level, Concentration and Temperature of a Urea Tank using Ultrasonic and Electrical Conductivity Sensors)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the basic data for the development of a sensor capable of simultaneously measuring the liquid-level, concentration and temperature of a urea tank using ultrasonic and electrical conductivity sensors for diesel vehicles with a urea-SCR system. It was found that the liquid-level of the urea tank using the ultrasonic sensor showed a good linearity with the actual liquid-level, and the urea concentration maintained good linearity in the range of 32.5 wt% to 10 wt%. It was an effective measurement of urea concentration to use the electrical conductivity sensor in the temperature range of $-10{\sim}22^{\circ}C$ and to use the ultrasonic sensor at $22^{\circ}C$ or more. Simultaneous measurement of concentration, liquid-level and temperature of the urea tank will be possible by attaching the electrical conductivity sensor and the ultrasonic sensor (split-type) to one sensor together.

  • In this study, The new type of loop antenna which detects the partial discharge was designed based on microstrip line technology. In diagnosis of power cable, partial discharge signal generally occurred at the frequency range lower than 100MHz because high frequency PD signals could be lost along the propagation path in the cable. The new type of loop antenna sensor has been studied by using Simulation software named CST microwave studio version 5.0. In partial discharge measuring experiments, commercial HFCT sensor was used as a reference sensor. Several experiments were made over HFCT sensor and loop antenna sensor in detection partial discharge on MV XLPE cable of 22.9kV. In this study, we have shown our loop antenna sensor can apply as a commercial HFCT sensor.

미지물체를 안전하게 잡기 위한 6축 로봇손가락 힘/모멘트센서의 개발 (Development of a 6-axis Robot's Finger Force/Moment Sensor for Stably Grasping an Unknown Object)

  • This paper describes the development of a 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor, which measures forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously, for stably grasping an unknown object. In order to safely grasp an unknown object using the robot's gripper, it should measure the force in the gripping direction and the force in the gravity direction, and perform the force control using the measured forces. Thus, the robot's gripper should be composed of 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor that can measure forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously. In this paper, the 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor for measuring forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously was newly modeled using several parallel-plate beams, designed, and fabricated. The characteristic test of made sensor was performed. and the result shows that interference errors of the developed sensor are less than 3%. Also, Robot's gripper with the 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor for the characteristic test of force control was manufactured, and the characteristic test for grasping an unknown object was performed using it. The fabricated gripper could grasp an unknown object stably. Thus, the developed 6-axis robot's finger force/moment sensor may be used for robot's gripper.

4축 힘/토크 센서의 구조 설계 (Design of Structure of Four-Axis Force/Torque Sensor with Parallel Step Plate Beams)

  • This paper describes the design of a four-axis force/torque sensor with PSPBs (Parallel Step Plate Beams). The sensor is composed of eight PSPBs, a force/torque transmitting block, and fixing blocks. It is designed by using the FEM(Finite Element Method), and fabricated by using strain gages. The characteristic tests of the sensor are carried out, and the interference error, repeatability error, and non-linearity error are less than 2.21%, 0.03% and 0.03%. Furthermore, the structure of the four-axis force/torque sensor with PSPBs has a larger rated capacity than that of the four-axis force/torque sensor with PPBs under the same overall sensor size and the same rated output. It is thought that the developed four-axis force/torque sensor with PSPBs can be used for measuring the forces and torques in an intelligent robot, automation devices, etc.

  • This paper presents the measuring technique for local heat transfer coefficients using a copper sensor in a rod bundle with mixing vanes. A copper sensor consists of a cartridge heater and four pieces of thermocouple. The Heater is located at the center of the copper sensor and thermocouples measure the surface temperature of the copper sensor. Unheated copper sensor and heated copper sensor are able to measure the local heat transfer coefficient at the position where the heated copper sensor is installed. However the entire region of a rod bundle is actually not heated, the decay of local heat transfer coefficients measured represents overestimated value rather than an actual value. The calibration curve for local heat transfer coefficients is presented using the correction factor calculated by CFD.

  • In this study, a diaphragm-type pressure sensor was developed using multi-layer(four-layer) graphene produced at 1 nm thickness by thermally transferring single-layer graphene produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to a 6" silicon wafer. By measuring the gauge factor, we investigated whether it was possible to produce a pressure sensor of consistent quality. As a result of the measurement, the pressure sensor using multilayer graphene showed linearity and had a gauge factor of about 17.5. The gauge factor of the multilayer graphene-based pressure sensor produced through this study is lower than that of doped silicon, but is more sensitive than a general metal sensor, showing that it can be sufficiently used as a commercialized sensor.

  • 심전도와 맥파를 측정함으로써 구해질 수 있는 맥파전달시간은 심혈관계의 상태를 진단하기 위한 의미 있는 지표가 된다. 그러나 맥파를 측정하는 동안 움직이거나, 측정 시에 가해지는 압력이 부정확할 경우, 잘못된 측정 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 심전도, 압력맥파 및 광전용적맥파를 동시에 측정할 수 있는 일체형 센서 시스템과 심전도를 지속적으로 측정할 수 있는 금속 전극을 개발하였으며, 실험을 통해 일체형 센서시스템 및 금속 전극의 유용성을 입증하였다.

  • 본 논문은 광섬유 브래그 격자 센서를 이용한 텐서그리티 구조의 실시간 모니터링을 설명하였다. 텐서그리티 구조는 케이블의 장력만으로 평형을 유지하는 구조시스템이다. 힘의 평형을 이룰 때 케이블 각 부분에 장력은 일정하다 할 수 없다. 그러므로 각 부분의 장력의 계측은 매우 중요하다. 각 부분의 케이블의 장력을 계측하는데 광섬유 브래그 격자 센서가 적합한지를 증명하기 위하여 텐서그리티 시험체를 제작하였다. 광섬유 브래그 격자 센서를 이용하여 장력을 모니터링 하는 시험을 실시하였고, 시험의 결과로 광섬유 브래그 격자 센서는 외력 작용 시에 정확한 계측을 보여주었다. 그러므로 텐서그리티 구조의 케이블에 장력을 계측할 수 있고 실시간 모니터링이 가능하다.
