Fuctional Relationship between Rate of Fatty Acid Oxidation and Carnitine Palmitoyl Transferase I Activity in Various Rat Tissues

  • Lipids play many structural and metabolic roles, and dietary fat has great impact on metabolism and health. Fatty acid oxidation rate is dependent on tissue types. However there has been no report on the relationship between the rate of fatty acid oxidation and carnitine transport system in outer mitochondrial membrane of many tissues. In this study, the rate of fatty acid oxidation and carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT) I activity in the carnitine transport system were measured to understand the metabolic characteristics of fatty acid in various tissues. Palmitic acid oxidation rate and CPT I activity in various tissues were measured. Tissues were obtained from the white and red skeletal muscles, heart, liver, kidney and brain of rats. The highest lipid oxidation rate was demonstrated in the cardiac muscle, and the lowest oxidation rate was in brain. Red gastrocnemius muscle followed to the cardiac muscle. Lipid oxidation rates of kidney, white gastrocnemius muscle and liver were similar, ranging from 101 to 126 DPM/mg/hr. CPT I activity in the cardiac muscle was the highest, red gastrocnemius muscle followed by liver. Brain tissue showed the lowest CPT I activity as well as lipid oxidation rate, although the values were not significantly different from those of kidney and white gastrocnemius muscle. Therefore, lipid oxidation rate was highly (p<0.001) related to CPT I activity. Lipid oxidation rate is variable, depending on tissue types, and is highly (p<0.001) related to CPT I activity. CPT I activity may be a good marker to indicate lipid oxidation capacity in various tissues.

  • Recently, with the sensor technology, research about the electronic nose system which imitated the olfactory organ are being pushed actively. But, in case of general electronic nose system, an aroma is measured at the laboratory space where blocked external environment and is analyzed a part of measured data. In this paper, we propose the system which can measure and recognize an aroma in natural environment. We propose the Entropy algorithm which can detect the sensor reaction section among the continuous detection processing about an aroma. And we implement the aroma recognition system using the PCA(Principal Components Analysis) and K-NN(K-Nearest Neighbor) about the detected aroma. In order to evaluate the performance, we measured the aroma pattern, about 9 aroma oil, 50 times respectively. And we experimented the aroma detection and recognition using this. There was an error of 0.2s in the aroma detection and we get 84.3% recognition rate of the aroma recognition.

  • The principal intention of this experimental work is to confer upon the exergy study of GSHP associated with horizontal earth heat exchanger for space heating. The exergy analysis recognizes the assessment of the tendency of various energy flows and quantifies the extensive impression of inefficiencies in the system and its components. Consequently, this study intends to provide the enlightenment for well interpretation of exergy concept for GSHP. This GSHP system is composed of heat pump cycle, earth heat exchanger cycle and fan coil cycle. All the required data were measured and recorded when the experimental set up run at steady state and average of the measured data were used for exergy investigation purpose. In this study the rate at which exergy destructed at all the subsystems and system has been estimated using the analytical expression. The overall rational exergetic efficiency of the GSHP system was evaluated for estimating its effectiveness. Hence, we draw the exergy flow diagram by using the various calculated results. The result shows that in the whole system the maximum exergy destruction rate component was compressor and minimum exergy flow component was earth heat exchanger. Consequently, compressor and earth heat exchanger need to be pay more attention.

  • In this Paper, It is analysed 5 GHz frequency characteristics that carry out interference experimental under the indoor environments for understanding propagation interference between existing 5 GHz band wireless communication system and 5 GHz band wireless LAN system. The interference signal which was generated by signal generator injected to 5 GHz Wireless LAN communication system measured interference characteristics and This radio propagation main interference factors were classified received power level separation by interference source frequency and interference source frequency pulse period & width separation. It is measured transmission rate according to variable data and packet size for conforming the quality of 5 GHz band wireless LAN system. We measured the packet data loss rate and power level of received signal and analyzed its frequency characteristics effected by interference signal.

  • This paper describes a theoretical model developed for analyzing the heat transfer of automotive cooling systems. From the model, heat transfer rate of automotive cooling systems can be predicted, providing useful information at the early stages of the design and development. The aim of the study is to develop a simulation program for automotive cooling system analysis and a performance analysis program for analyzing heat exchanger. Heat release rate from combustion gas to coolant through cylinder wall in engine cylinder was analyzed by using a two zone combustion model. This paper studied how cooling condition would affect engine heat release rate and measured temperature distribution of coolant in water jacket.

  • Presented is the study on design and implementation of a fuzzy system to approximately reason using measured actual storage rate in irrigation reservoirs. To design Fuzzy reasoning systems. Minimum Operation Rule by Mamdani was applied. Fuzzy variable and membership functions are determined after identifying storage-rate affecting factor and followed simulation. Hydrological model to express actual situation within drought areal boundary is generally too complex. Hereby, considering irregularity of time-rate storage change during irrigation, this system uses irrigation water and meteorological data as a IN-data. It was abvious the results were closely corresponding to the actual data observed.

  • A practical method is proposed to improve hit probability of the digital gun fire control system, when the measured rate of the tracking sensor becomes biased under some operational situation. For ground moving target it is shown that the well-known Kalman filter which uses position measurement only can be optimally used to eliminate the rate bias error. On the other hand, for 3D moving aircraft we present a new algorithm which incorporate FIR-type filter, which uses position and rate measurement at the same time, and the fixed-lag smoother using position measurement only, and show that it has the optimal performance in terms of both estimation accuracy and response time.

  • This paper considers the adaptive predictive control problem of a system characterized by a multiplexed measurements and multirate sampling mechanism. Plant outputs are measured in various sampling rates through a multiplexed measurement system where a single common instrument is shared by several controllers. In general, output measurement sampling rate is assumed to be slower that input update rate. An adaptive predictive control algorithm is developed for systems with multiplexed measurements.

  • Average Bi-directional flow tube was suggested to measure single and two phase flow rate. Its working principle is similar with Pilot tube, however, it makes it possible to eliminate the cooling system which is normally needed to prevent from flashing in the pressure impulse line of Pilot tube when it is used in the depressurization condition. The suggested instrumentation was tested in the air-water vertical test section which has 80mm inner diameter and 10m length. The flow tube was installed at 120 of L/D from inlet of test section. From the test, single air and water flow rate was measured successfully. For the emasurement of two phase flow rate, Chexal drift-flux correlation was used. In the test a new correlation of momentum exchange factor was suggested. The test result shows that the suggested instrumentation using the measured void fraction and Chexal drift-flux correlation can predict the mass flow rates within $10\%$ error of measured data.

  • Diesel engine is widely used for ship and industry source of power because of its high thermal efficiency and reliability and durability. However it lead to air pollution due to exhaust gas, and it is important to develop diesel engine of lower air-pollution to decrease the hazardous exhaust gas emissions. As one of the ways, the study for practically using the high pressure of fuel injection and variable injection timing system is being processing. The high pressure injection, which is said to be an effective means for reducing both NOx and particulate emissions, and great improvements in combustion characteristics have been reported by many researchers. In this study, electronic-hydraulic fuel injection system and hydraulic fuel injector system have been applied to the D.I. test engine for high pressure injection and variable injection timing. The injection pressure and injection rate depending upon accumulator pressure were measured with strain gage and Bosch injection rate measuring system before fitting the system into test engine, and analyzed the characteristics of the injection system. The combustion characteristics with this injection system has been analyzed with data concerning heat release rate, pressure rising rate, ignition point, ignition delay and maximum pressure value.
