In this paper, The performance and functions of automatic flatness control system installed on the 4 hi-reversing mill and has been investigated under actualconditions. A new automatic flatness control system incorporates a measuring roll for measurement and correction calculations, hydraulic roll benders, selective roll cooling, and a programmable controller for interface and data logging. The test results are as following. The more the exit steel strip thickness is thick, the smaller the I value, and the more it is thin, the larger the I value. And, a complex distribution of strip tension was controlled, for example, not only a quarter buckle but also a simple center wave and edge wave. Because the tension deviation is larger at acceleration speed and deceleration speed than steady speed, so automatic flatness control system of contact type is better to adopt over 450 m/min, automatic flatness control system reduces rapidly large flatness deviation. The maximum I value of strip has been decreased to 13 I, and defects caused by poor flatness have been drastically decreased. And coolant temperature for work roll cooling system on the automatic flatness control system is better to adopt about 50-55 .deg. C.

Excessive wavy surfaces formed by a cold or hot-rolling process in a thin plate degrade the value of the plate significantly, which is called flatness problem in the industry. It is a result of post-buckling due to the residual stress caused by the rolling process. A unique difficulty of the problem as a buckling problem is that the buckling length is not given but has to be found. a new approach is developed to solve the flatness problem by extending a classic post-buckling analysis method based on the energy principle. The approach determines the buckling length and amplitude. The new solution approach can be used to determine the condition for the maximum rolling production that does not cause the flatness problem.

Thermal-fluid analysis was performed to understand the thermal behavior in the horizontal CVD reactor thereby to design a susceptor which has a uniform deposition rate during silicon EPI growing. Four different types of susceptor designs, standard (no hole susceptor), hole $\sharp$1 (240 mm), hole $\sharp$2 (150 mm) and hole $\sharp$3 (60 mm), were simulated by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tool. Temperature, gas flow, deposition rate and growth rate were calculated and analyzed. The degree of flatness of EPI wafer loaded on the susceptor was computed in terms of silicon growth rate. The simulation results show that the temperature and thermal distribution in the wafer are greatly dependent on inner diameter of hole susceptor and demonstrate that the introduction of hole in the susceptor can degrade wafer flatness. Maximum temperature difference appeared around holes. As the diameter of the hole decreases, flatness of the wafer becomes poor. Among the threes types of susceptors with the hole, optimal design which resulted a good uniform flatness ($5\%$) was obtained when using hole $\sharp$1.

The necessity for more accurate automatic flatness control(AFC) system has increased of customers' requirement for cold rolled steel sheet. Therefore, many cold rolling mills replaced its AFC system with a measuring roll of the contact type form the non-contact type. In this paper. The performance of AFC system of contact type has been investigated under industrial conditions. It has two kinds of actuator: roll bender, spot cooling system. The test results are as follows: The more strip thickness is thick, the smaller the I value, and the more it is thin, the bigger the I value. And a complex distribution of strip tension was controlled, for example, not only a pocket wave but also a simple center wave and edge wave. Because the tension deviation is larger at acceler- ation speed and decelerationspeed than steady speed, AFC system of contact type is better to adopt over 50m/mim. AFC system reduces rapidly large flatness deviation. The maximum I value of strip has been decreased to 13 I, and sticker, defects caused by poor flatness, have been decreased about 60%.

This paper proposes a technique to analyze the flatness characteristics of the attenuator at 10Hz to $50\text\tiny{MHz}$ on the basis of $1\text\tiny{kHz}$ using a Thermal Voltage Converter and AC measurement standard. In the proposed technique, the input voltage of the attenuator for each measuring frequency is supplied at the same rate as $1\text\tiny{kHz}$ using TVC, and the flatness characteristics of the attenuator are analyzed by the voltage variation indicated in the AC measurement standard. The results of the analysis of the attenuator flatness characteristics show that the maximum uncertainty of $866{\mu}V/V$ can be measured from $10\text\tiny{dB}$ to $70\text\tiny{dB}$ and the uncertainty is reduced by about 37% compared to $2.31\text\tiny{mV}$/V using the network measurement method. The improved attenuator flatness characteristic values can be applied to the frequency flatness calibration from 2.2V to 2.2mV at the low voltage of the AC measurement standard.

In this paper, we design and implement a broadband LNA(Low Noise Amplifier), a mixer, and oscillators in RF module part for radar detector. For resolving the limitation of the conventional product that the sensitivity is low due to the poor gain flatness, we propose the architecture of RF module part. The proposed RF module part is composed with a broadband 2-stage LNA, a mixer, and three oscillators, and improves the maximum gain and gain flatness for detecting various frequencies. The overall performances of RF module part are above 38 dB conversion gain in whole band and 1 dB gain flatness. These results show that the maximum gain which is the problem of the conventional product is improved 6 dB from 35 dB to 41 dB, and gain flatness is also improved 17 dB from 22 dB to 5 dB.

This paper presents a design methodology for wideband single-layered microwave absorbers with arbitrary absorption at the design center frequency using reactive Salisbury screens. The bandwidth of the absorber increases when the flatness of the reflection response at the design center frequency is maximized. Based on this observation, closed-form design formulas for wideband absorbers are derived. As they are scalable to any design frequency, wideband reactive screens can be systematically realized using two-dimensional periodic crossed-dipole structures patterned on a resistive sheet. Based on this method, a single-layered absorber with a 90% bandwidth improved to 124% of the design center frequency is presented. For the purpose of physical demonstration, an absorber with a design center frequency of 10 GHz is designed and fabricated using a silver nanowire resistive film with a surface resistance of 30 Ω/square. The measured absorption shows a good agreement with both the calculation and the electromagnetic simulation.
In this paper, we propose a new method for determining automatically the size of the matching window using histogram of the gradient in order to improve the performance of stereo matching using one-meter resolution satellite imagery. For each pixel, we generate Flatness Index Image by calculating the mean value of the vertical or horizontal intensity gradients of the 4-neighbors of every pixel in the entire image. The edge pixel has high flatness index value, while the non-edge pixel has low flatness index value. By using the histogram of the Flatness Index Image, we find a flatness threshold value to determine whether a pixel is edge pixel or non-edge pixel. If a pixel has higher flatness index value than the flatness threshold value, we classify the pixel into edge pixel, otherwise we classify the pixel into non-edge pixel. If the ratio of the number of non-edge pixels in initial matching window is low, then we consider the pixel to be in homogeneous region and enlarge the size of the matching window We repeat this process until the size of matching window reaches to a maximum size. In the experiment, we used IKONOS satellite stereo imagery and obtained more improved matching results than the matching method using fixed matching window size.
In this paper, we introduce the design and fabrication of V-band power amplifier MMIC with excellent gain-flatness for IEEE 802.15.3c WPAN system. The V-band power amplifier was designed using ETRI' $0.12{\mu}m$ PHEMT process. The PHEMT shows a peak transconductance ($G_{m,peak}$) of 500 mS/mm, a threshold voltage of -1.2 V, and a drain saturation current of 49 mA for 2 fingers and $100{\mu}m$ total gate width (2f100) at $V_{ds}$=2 V. The RF characteristics of the PHEMT show a cutoff frequency, $f_T$, of 97 GHz, and a maximum oscillation frequency, $f_{max}$, of 166 GHz. The gains of the each stages of the amplifier were modified to have broadband characteristics of input/output matching for first and fourth stages and get more gains of edge regions of operating frequency range for second and third stages in order to make the gain-flatness of the amplifier excellently for wide band. The performances of the fabricated 60 GHz power amplifier MMIC are operating frequency of $56.25{\sim}62.25\;GHz$, bandwidth of 6 GHz, small signal gain ($S_{21}$) of $16.5{\sim}17.2\;dB$, gain flatness of 0.7 dB, an input reflection coefficient ($S_{11}$) of $-16{\sim}-9\;dB$, output reflection coefficient ($S_{22}$) of $-16{\sim}-4\;dB$ and output power ($P_{out}$) of 13 dBm. The chip size of the amplifier MMIC was $3.7{\times}1.4mm^2$.
Using a multiple regression analysis, a total of 78 low-Reynolds-number airfoils are examined in this paper to clarify the systematic relationships between the geometrical parameters of the airfoils and experimentally-determined aerodynamic coefficients. The results show that the effects of the maximum camber and the maximum thickness regarding the maximum lift and the stalling angle of attack, respectively, are major. The lower-surface flatness of the airfoil is also a crucial geometrical parameter for aerodynamic performance. It is proven here that, generally, the application of the regression equations for an assessment of the aerodynamic performance is relatively acceptable, along with an expectation that the lift-curve slope violates the normality assumption.
