In this paper, we verify the optimal topology design for heat conduction problems in steady stated which is obtained numerically using the adjoint design sensitivity analysis(DSA) method. In adjoint variable method(AVM), the already factorized system matrix is utilized to obtain the adjoint solution so that its computation cost is trivial for the sensitivity. For the topology optimization, the design variables are parameterized into normalized bulk material densities. The objective function and constraint are the thermal compliance of the structure and the allowable volume, respectively. For the experimental validation of the optimal topology design, we compare the results with those that have identical volume but designed intuitively using a thermal imaging camera. To manufacture the optimal design, we apply a simple numerical method to convert it into point cloud data and perform CAD modeling using commercial reverse engineering software. Based on the CAD model, we manufacture the optimal topology design by CNC.
The rheological properties of Wyoming bentonites are strongly influenced by the size of particles, cation exchangeable capacity, arrangement and morphology of clay mineral. This paper presents the results of rheological investigations on the Wyoming bentonites aqueous dispersions: two types of particle flocculation were considered. For the Wyoming bentonite, 0g/L and 30g/L NaCl equivalent salinity were added in fresh and salt water to examine the rheological behavior. This paper examined the general rheological characteristics, compatibility of rheological models and correlation between soil structure and change in rheological properties of Wyoming bentonite caused by increasing salinity. From flow curves of bentonites hydrated with fresh water and salt water, the observed general flow behavior is very close to shear thinning with yield stress (or ideal Bingham fluid with yield stress and plastic viscosity). However, the change of shear stress at the same shear rate is clear, particularly for lower shear rate. Well-known rheological models are used to fit the data. There is a good agreement between rheological model and data: Carreau, Herschel-Bulkley and power-law for S=0g/L and bilinear, Herschel-Bulkley and power-law for S=30g/L. It may be due to the fact that the internal structural bonding (strong modification of particle-particle interactions from edge-to-edge and/or edge-to-face to face-to-face) in soil matrix is affected from the evolution of rheological properties with different salinities.
This study examines problems with using the conventional analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method and proposes a method of weight adjustment as a modification of AHP. AHP is a method for transforming complex decision problems into a hierarchal structure, which is composed of elements in the upper and lower levels and then using pairwise comparisons to evaluate these elements and subsequently to obtain their relative weights. The elements' relative importance is reliable if the elements in the lower hierarchical levels (sub factors) that comprise each element in the upper hierarchical level (primary factor) are equal in number. In other words, if the number of sub factors is different for each primary factor, a serious error is expected as a result. Therefore, this study proposes a modification of AHP that can avoid such an error when AHP is used. Specifically, an error that arises from different number of sub factors (matrix size) can be overcome by making the number of sub factors identical for each primary factor. The resulting model has been validated through the applications in different AHP hierarchical structures.
The ultimate objective of periodontal treatment is to stop disease progression and to regenerate destroyed periodontal tissues and thereby regain normal function. Growth factors are naturally found polypetides which stimulate many cellular activities pertaining to wound healing by acting as signal molecule in controlling cell movement, proliferation, and matrix production. Platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) is 28,000-35,000 Da molecular weight dimeric protein with 2 long positively charged polypeptide chains connected by sulfide bonds. The purpose of this study is to evaluate histologically the initial guided tissue regeneration in a periodontal defect f a beagle dog treated with a biodegradable membrane formed with polylactic acid (poly-L-lactic acid) and polyglycolic acid loaded with 200ng/$cm^2$ platelet derived growth factor. 2 beagle dogs were used in he experiment. $5mm{\times}6mm$ alveolar bone defect was formed in upper and lower canines and third premolars and a reference notch was placed. PDGF-BB non-containing membrane was used as control. Each defect was randomly assigned to the test roup or the control group. The dogs were sacrificed 3 weeks after membrane placement. Toluidine blue and multiple staining was done for histological analysis. In the 3 week specimen in the control group, no new one formation could be seen. Small amount f bone resorption below the notch could be seen. In the notch, loose connective tissue with infiltration of inflammatory cells could be seen. Also thin discontinuous new cementum could be seen and the membrane still retained its structure. Where PDGF-BB containing membrane was used, new bone formation could be seen in the notch at weeks and also continuous thin cementum could be seen. PDL cells were observed between new bone and new cementum and some were attached to bone and cementum. These results suggest that new bone and cementum formation seen when PDGF-BB loaded membrane was used was due to inhibition of downgrowth of epithelial cells and also due to continuous release of the growth factor. Further study on the resorption characteristics of the membrane nd the release characteristics of the PDGF-BB is necessary. Also, development of a membrane easier to use clinically is necessary.

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been widely investigated as a next-generation solar cell because of their simple fabrication process and low coats. The cells use a porous nanocrystalline TiO2 matrix coated with a sensitizer dye that acts as the light-harvesting element. The photo-exited dye injects electrons into the $TiO_2$ particles, and the oxide dye reacts with I- in the electrolyte in regenerative cycle that is completed by the reduction of $I_3^-$ at a platinum-coated counter electrode. Since $TiO_2$ porous film plays a key role in the enhancement of photoelectric conversion efficiency of DSSC, many scientists focus their researches on it. Especially, a high light-to-electricity conversion efficiency results from particle size and crystallographic phase, film porosity, surface structure, charge and surface area to volume ratio of porous $TiO_2$ electrodes, on which the dye can be sufficiently adsorbed. Effective treatment of the photoanode is important to improve DSSC performance. In this paper, to obtain properties of surface and dispersion as nitric acid treated $TiO_2$ photoelectrode was investigate. The photovoltaic characteristics of DSSCs based the electrode fabricated by nitric acid pre-treatment $TiO_2$ materials gave better performances on both of short circuit current density and open circuit voltage. We compare dispersion of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles before and after nitric acid treatment and measured Ti oxidized state from XPS. Low charge transfer resistance was obtained in nitric acid treated sample than that of untreated sample. The dye-sensitized solar cell based on the nitric acid treatment had open-circuit voltage of 0.71 V, a short-circuit current of 15.2 mAcm-2 and an energy conversion efficiency of 6.6 % under light intensity of $100\;mWcm^{-2}$. About 14 % increases in efficiency obtained when the $TiO_2$ electrode was treated by nitric acid.

This paper suggests an extended memory polynomial model that improves accuracy in modeling memory effects of RF power amplifiers(PAs), and verifies effectiveness of the suggested method. The extended memory polynomial model includes cross-terms that are products of input terms that have different delay values to improve the limited accuracy of basic memory polynomial model that includes the diagonal terms of Volterra kernels. The complexity of the memoryless model, memory polynomial model, and the suggested model are compared. The extended memory polynomial model is represented with a matrix equation, and the Volterra kernels are extracted using least square method. In addition, the structure of digital predistorter and digital signal processing(DSP) algorithm based on the suggested model and indirect learning method are proposed to implement a digital predistortion linearization. To verify the suggested model, the predicted output of the model is compared with the measured output for a 10W GaN HEMT RF PA and 30 W LDMOS RF PA using 2.3 GHz WiBro input signal, and adjacent-channel power ratio(ACPR) performance with the proposed digital predistortion is measured. The proposed model increases model accuracy for the PAs, and improves the linearization performance by reducing ACPR.
The present study was carried out to investigate morphologic changes in the corpus luteum of the pregnant rat by electron microscope after administration of prostaglandin F2$\alpha$(PGF2$\alpha$). Pregnant rates were treated with PGF2$\alpha$(1,500$\mu\textrm{g}$/rat) and their corpura lutea were observed morphologically. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows ; 1. The weight of the ovaries and corpura lutea were decreased slightly at 8~24 hours after PGF2$\alpha$ administratin but no significant differences were observed. 2. The number of corpora lutea and luteal cells decreased slightly at 12~48 hours and 18~24 hours after PGF2$\alpha$ tretment but there were no signifciant differences between control and treatment. 3. The weight of uterus and the unmber of embryo decreased slightly at 96 hours and at 18~96 hours after PGF2$\alpha$ administration but no significant differences were obtained. 4. In the electron microscopic observatons, lipid droplets which are electron dense and appear in the cytoplasm moderately increased in number after PGF2$\alpha$ treatment. The lipid droplets were surrounded by mitochodria and appeared in the autophagic vacuoles. 5. Moderated and high electron dense mitochondria which are round or elongated in shape showed pleomorphism from 3 hours after PGF2$\alpha$ treatment. Destruction of tubular of vesicular cristae was observed at 6 hours after the treatment. Dense body and myelin figures in matrix of mitochondria were also appeared. 6. Well-developed smooth endoplasmic reticulum(sER) showed tubular or vesicular cisternae. A number of whorl membranes containing ribosomes, mitochondria and lipid droplets were observed at 1.5 hour after treatment. sER was abundant in luteal cells at 12 hours were treatment. 7. Well-developed Golgi pparatus appeared obviously 6 hours and more prominently at 12 hours. Those Golgi vesicles were remarkably dilated. 8. Generally, a few rough endoplasmic reticulum (rER) were appeared after treatment and cisternae showed slight dilatation. No differences among the treatments were observed. However, slight dilation of cisternae was observed at 1.5 hours after treatment. 9. Ribosomes composed of free and polyribosomes were abundant before treatment but polyribosomes were appeared at 12 to 24 hours after treatment. 10. Intercellular space were slightly extended at 3 hours and markedly extended at 12 hours. Numerous microvillous protrusions were observed at these times. Membranous multivesicular structures and autophagic vacuoles were also appeared in the intercellular space. 11. At 3 hours after the treatment, autophagic vacuoles appeared in the cytoplasm of the cell. They increased in number with time and were observed to transfer to the intercellular space. Lysosomal dense body appeared in the cytoplasm and the inclusion body was also observed in nucleus at 12 to 24 hours after treatment.

In this paper, X-band transceiver for high resolution wideband SAR systems is designed and fabricated. Also as a technique for enhancing the performance, error compensation algorithm is presented. The transceiver for SAR system is composed of transmitter, receiver, switch matrix and frequency generator. The receiver especially has 2 channel mono-pulse structure for ground moving target indication. The transceiver is able to provide the deramping signal for high resolution mode and select the receive bandwidth for receiving according to the operation mode. The transceiver had over 300 MHz bandwidth in X-band and 13.3 dBm output power which is appropriate to drive the T/R module. The receiver gain and noise figure was 39 dB and 3.96 dB respectively. The receive dynamic range was 30 dB and amplitude imbalance and phase imbalance of I/Q channel was ${\pm}$0.38 dBm and ${\pm}$3.47 degree respectively. The transceiver meets the required electrical performances through the individual tests. This paper shows the pulse error term depending on SAR performance was analyzed and range IRF was enhanced by applying the compensation technique.
Salt water spray and immersion tests were experimentally conducted for over 6 months to investigate the durability of glass fabric/phenolic composites under salt water environment. Mechanical properties such as tensile properties, flexural properties, and shear properties were evaluated and thermal analysis properties such as storage shear modulus, loss shear moduls, and tan 6 were obtained through a DMA. A change in chemical structures was analyzed through a FTIR. According to the results, mechanical properties and thermal analysis properties were sensitive to salt water environment and these properties began to degrade in increasing in exposure times. However, tensile and flexural moduli started to decrease and then slightly increase as increasing in exposure times due to plasticization and crosslinking in matrix as well as physical swelling in composites. Beyond a certain exposure times, these properties began to decrease as further increasing in exposure times. Also the shape and location of peaks in FTIR curves were insensitive to exposure times, but the intensity of peaks would be. finally we found that the durability of glass fabric/phenolic composites were affected on salt water immersion environment rather than salt water spray environment.

To predict behaviors of offshore wind turbines which are highly laterally loaded structures and to design them rationally, evaluating the soil-foundation interaction is important. Nowadays, there are many soil modeling methods for structural analysis of general structures subjected to vertical loads, but using the methods without any consideration for design of a monopile foundation is eschewed because it might cause wrong structural design due to the deferent loading state. In this paper, we identify the differences of the member forces and displacements by design methods. The results show that fixed end method is barely suitable for monopile design in terms of checking the serviceability because it underestimate the lateral displacement. Fixed end method and stiffness matrix method underestimate the member forces, whereas virtual fixed end method overestimates them. The results of p-y curve method and coefficient of subgrade reaction method are similar to the results of 3D soil modeling method, and 2D soil modeling method overestimates the displacement and member forces as compared with other methods.
