Image Tracking Algorithm using Template Matching and PSNF-m

  • The template matching method is used as a simple method to track objects or patterns that we want to search for in the input image data from image sensors. It recognizes a segment with the highest correlation as a target. The concept of this method is similar to that of SNF (Strongest Neighbor Filter) that regards the measurement with the highest signal intensity as target-originated among other measurements. The SNF assumes that the strongest neighbor (SN) measurement in the validation gate originates from the target of interest and the SNF utilizes the SN in the update step of a standard Kalman filter (SKF). The SNF is widely used along with the nearest neighbor filter (NNF), due to computational simplicity in spite of its inconsistency of handling the SN as if it is the true target. Probabilistic Strongest Neighbor Filter for m validated measurements (PSNF-m) accounts for the probability that the SN in the validation gate originates from the target while the SNF assumes at any time that the SN measurement is target-originated. It is known that the PSNF-m is superior to the SNF in performance at a cost of increased computational load. In this paper, we suggest an image tracking algorithm that combines the template matching and the PSNF-m to estimate the states of a tracked target. Computer simulation results are included to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm in comparison with other algorithms.

New Impedance Matching Scheme for 60 GHz Band Electro-Absorption Modulator Modules

  • This letter proposes a new impedance matching scheme of a traveling wave electro-absorption modulator (TWEAM) module for a 60 GHz band radio-over-fiber (ROF) link. A microstrip band pass filter (BPF) was used to achieve impedance matching at the 60 GHz band, and termination resistance was carefully designed to obtain an input impedance close to $50\;{\Omega}$. Also, a bias circuit for the device was designed in the module. The measured return loss and frequency response show that the modulator module observes the characteristics of a filter without the need of a further tuning process.

Development and Performance Analysis of a New Navigation Algorithm by Combining Gravity Gradient and Terrain Data as well as EKF and Profile Matching

  • As an alternative navigation system for the non-GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) environment, a new type of DBRN (DataBase Referenced Navigation) which applies both gravity gradient and terrain, and combines filter-based algorithm with profile matching was suggested. To improve the stability of the performance compared to the previous study, both centralized and decentralized EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) were constructed based on gravity gradient and terrain data, and one of filters was selected in a timely manner. Then, the final position of a moving vehicle was determined by combining a position from the filter with the one from a profile matching. In the simulation test, it was found that the overall performance was improved to the 19.957m by combining centralized and decentralized EKF compared to the centralized EKF that of 20.779m. Especially, the divergence of centralized EKF in two trajectories located in the plain area disappeared. In addition, the average horizontal error decreased to the 16.704m by re-determining the final position using both filter-based and profile matching solutions. Of course, not all trajectories generated improved performance but there is not a large difference in terms of their horizontal errors. Among nine trajectories, eights show smaller than 20m and only one has 21.654m error. Thus, it would be concluded that the endemic problem of performance inconsistency in the single geophysical DB or algorithm-based DBRN was resolved because the combination of geophysical data and algorithms determined the position with a consistent level of error.

  • 3D technology is main factor in Augmented Reality. Depth map is essential to make cubic effect using 2d image. There are a lot of ways to construct Depth map. Among them, stereo matching is mainly used. This paper presents how to generate depth map using stereo matching. For stereo matching, existing Dynamic programming method is used. To make accurate stereo matching, High-Boost Filter is applied to preprocessing method. As a result, when depth map is generated, accuracy based on Ground Truth soared.

  • This paper presents algorithm including Kalman filter for transfer alignment of velocity and quaternion matching method, when master inertial navigation system is a gimbled type and slave inertial navigation system is a strapdown type on a cruising ship which is naturally in motion of horizontal axis attitude. And relative attitudes are considered on a measurement equation for quaternion matching between master INS and slave INS.

Post Processing to Reduce Wrong Matches in Stereo Matching

  • Although many kinds of stereo matching method have been developed in the field of computer vision and photogrammetry, wrong matches are not easy to avoid. This paper presents a new method to reduce wrong matches after matching, and experimental results are reported. The main idea is to analyze the histogram of the image attribute differences between each pair of image patches matched. Typical image attributes of image patch are the mean and the standard deviation of gray value for each image patch, but there could be other kinds of image attributes. Another idea is to check relative position among potential matches. This paper proposes to use Gaussian blunder filter to detect the suspicious pair of candidate match in relative position among neighboring candidate matches. If the suspicious candidate matches in image attribute difference or relative position are suppressed, then many wrong matches are removed, but minimizing the suppression of good matches. The proposed method is easy to implement, and also has potential to be applied as post processing after image matching for many kinds of matching methods such as area based matching, feature matching, relaxation matching, dynamic programming, and multi-channel image matching. Results show that the proposed method produces fewer wrong matches than before.

A Novel Scalable and Storage-Efficient Architecture for High Speed Exact String Matching

  • String matching is a fundamental element of an important category of modern packet processing applications which involve scanning the content flowing through a network for thousands of strings at the line rate. To keep pace with high network speeds, specialized hardware-based solutions are needed which should be efficient enough to maintain scalability in terms of speed and the number of strings. In this paper, a novel architecture based upon a recently proposed data structure called the Bloomier filter is proposed which can successfully support scalability. The Bloomier filter is a compact data structure for encoding arbitrary functions, and it supports approximate evaluation queries. By eliminating the Bloomier filter's false positives in a space efficient way, a simple yet powerful exact string matching architecture is proposed that can handle several thousand strings at high rates and is amenable to on-chip realization. The proposed scheme is implemented in reconfigurable hardware and we compare it with existing solutions. The results show that the proposed approach achieves better performance compared to other existing architectures measured in terms of throughput per logic cells per character as a metric.

A New Parallel Hybrid Filter Configuration Minimizing Active Filter Size

  • A conventional parallel hybrid active filter has an inherent problem of large current ratings of devices used in inverter. In general, this problem has been solved by adjusting turn ratio of a matching transformer. However, making the transformer with high turn ratio may be not available for high power system due to its requirement for high voltage insulation. In this paper, a new configuration is proposed for parallel hybrid active filter. In the proposed hybrid active filter, the active filter is connected to the passive filter inductor in parallel through a matching transformer for the aim of reducing the size of inverter. Through computer simulations, we have shown the outstanding performances of the proposed topology.

체비셰프 필터함수를 이용한 수중 음향 압전 트랜스듀서의 절연형 정합회로 설계 (Design of Isolation-Type Matching Network for Underwater Acoustic Piezoelectric Transducer Using Chebyshev Filter Function)

  • 본 논문에서는 수중 음향 압전 트랜스듀서의 고효율, 정전력 구동이 가능하도록 절연 트랜스포머와 체비셰프 필터함수를 이용한 임피던스 정합회로 설계 방안을 제안하였다. 제안된 정합회로는 진동과 무관한 트랜스듀서의 리액턴스 성분을 최소화하고 넓은 동작주파수 범위에서 평탄한 출력 전력 특성을 갖도록 설계되었다. 체비세프 필터함수를 표준 원함수로하는 저역통과 필터를 단종단 제자형 회로로 설계하고 대역통과 주파수변환을 통하여 트랜스듀서의 등가모델과 트랜스포머의 권선비에 적합한 정합회로를 설계하였다. 제안된 기법을 예제 모델 Tonpilz형 압전 트랜스듀서에 대한 가상부하에 적용하고 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 그 결과를 비교함으로써 제안된 기법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

확장 칼만 필터를 이용한 양방향 스테레오 정합에 관한 연구 (A Study on Bidirectional Stereo Matching Using Extended Kalman Filter)

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 확장 칼만 필터를 이용한 양방향 스테레오 정합 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안 알고리즘은 비선형 칼만 필터를 사용하여 변이(disparity)를 예측하고 예측된 변이는 좌영상에서 우영상으로의 스테레오 정합에 적용된다. 변이 예측은 몇 번의 반복으로 구해지며 비선형 칼만 필터의 초기 상태 예측치에 큰 오차를 나타내는 단점을 극복하기 위하여 양방향 스테레오 정합 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 이웃 화소의 영향을 고려하여 선형 내삽법(intepolation)을 좌·우 영상에 적용함으로써 스테레오 정합에 강인한 결과를 나타내었다. 제안 알고리즘의 성능 평가를 위해서 기존의 SSD방법과 비교 검토하였다. 비교 결과 제안 알고리즘이 매우 우수한 정합 성능을 가짐을 알 수 있었다.
