  • The purpose of this study is to develop a data base system for the infromation on research and development of science education. As a part of this development, an analysis of master's theses and doctoral dissertations from the Department of Science Education, Seoul National University was done, and using authors' classification system for the research and development materials of science education, those theses were classified. From the analysis and classification, the following conclusion was drawn: 1) The Department of Science Education, Seoul National University had produced 468 masters of education for about 30 years. Among them, only 107 theses were on the science education and the other 361 theses on the pure science. This means that department has not taken root as a department of science education. If it does not carry out its own purpose of establishment, it will not be able to justify its existence any longer 2) As compared to the increased number of students applying for the doctoral program, the number of faculty is very few in the field of science education. Without more supplement of the faculty member majored science education, there will be increased conflict and disorder among faculty and students. 3) The proportion of the theses on science education to those on science vanes greatly by the major of the department. This is the mirror of the faculty attitude to and recognition of science education and the faculty composition. 4) The classification of master theses and doctoral dissertations on science education showed that most of them focused on the secondary school science education and were survey studies. But recently it is noticeable that the theme of the study became diversified and has kept in step with the international research trends.

Moreover, it is also a complex and multi-faceted profession that requires a strong understanding of not only human behaviors and the impact of the designed environment on them, but also of changing technologies and their potential effects. Furthermore, design is a participatory process which requires the application of research, and theoretical knowledge to resolve issues addressing the society. Indeed, there has been various kinds of researches in the interior design field that came about. Through scrutinization of master's theses and doctoral dissertations, this study intends us to grasp the current trend of interior design researches. Theses and dissertations related to interior design and architecture were and sources for this study. The subject of the analysis for this study was limited to the 560 titles of such like these, published from 1970 to 1996 by gradute schools related to interior design or architecture. The results were as follows : Since the '80s, there had been active researches on the interior design field. The subject space had extensively been expanded in its area, especially in the case of commercial environment. • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review journal articles, master's theses, and doctoral dissertations on self-leadership in nurses in order to identify overall trends in nursing self-leadership and to suggest strategies to improve self-leadership. Methods: Twenty-six papers on self-leadership in nurses were reviewed. Results: These papers were journal articles, master's theses, and doctoral dissertations regarding nurses who worked in general hospitals, university hospitals, and public health centers. Self-leadership was measured by using instruments developed by Manz (1983), Prussia, Anderson, & Manz (1998), and Houghton & Neck (2002). The instrument was composed of 18 items, with a 5-point Likert scale developed by Manz (1983) and modified by Kim (2002). Nurses' self-leadership was found to be related to job satisfaction, organizational commitment, nursing performance, and citizenship behavior. General characteristics of nurses, including age, education, marital status, position, and career, were also associated with self-leadership. Conclusion: The study findings provide data on recent trends in nurses' selfleadership. These results serve as basic data to provide a standard for developing self-leadership and indicate directions for further research.

Methods: A total of forty-one papers on organizational effectiveness in hospital nursing organizations were reviewed. Results: These papers were journal articles, master's theses and doctoral dissertations regarding nurses who worked in general hospitals and university hospitals, excluding special hospitals (ie. armed forces hospitals, mental hospitals). The review of literature identified 18 operational definitions (evaluation indexes) and 36 significant determinants of organizational effectiveness in hospital nursing organizations. The operational definitions were measured by using 46 instruments. Conclusion: The study findings provide data on recent trends in organizational effectiveness; it also serves as basic evidence for the need to improve organizational effectiveness in hospital nursing organizations as well as indicates directions for future research.

  • This study is to find out general problems a n.0, ppeared in the management and utilization of these and dissertation and to suggest some recommendations, through the survey and analysis on the Korean university libraries. Questionnaires were sent to 109 university libraries which offer master's and doctoral degrees, during the period between March 7 and March 27, 1995. Responded questionnaires of 91 libraries (about 83%) were processed using SAS. The results of this survey can be summarized as follows: 1. Most of Korean university libraries have the collections of theses and dissertations ranging from less than 10,000 volumes (27 libraries ; 32.1%) ; 10,000 to 30,000 volumes (20 libraries ; 25.0%) ; to more than 80,000 volumes (16 libraries ; 19.0%). The largest collection was around 200,000 volumes. 2. In the management of them, 35 libraries (38.5%) were active in collecting them, but 56 libraries (61.5%) were not active, mainly for the shortage of manpower and the space problems. In 62.6% of libraries, they are arranged with the books. And 51.3% of libraries process them in less than one month. 46 libraries (52.9%) computerize their system, and among them 40 libraries (87%) establish their own databases. 3. The collections of theses and dissertations are called by various name, including periodical room, theses room, reference reading room etc. reaching to 15 kinds. 71 libraries (78.0%) adopt open system, and 17 libraries closed system ; and 2 libraries (3.2%) partial open system. 62 libraries (68.1%) arrange them in the order of call number, while 20 libraries (31.9%) by other criteria.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a data base system for the information on research and development of science education. As the first step of this study and development, a classification system for the research and development materials was devised after discussing the process of science education and the research and development of science education. The classification system has nine main categories : 1. area, 2. subject, 3. behavior, 4. skill, 5. support, 6. type, 7. materials, 8. language, and 9. the others, each of which has one or two levels of subcategory. This classification system was revised and supplemented through the theoretical analysis by speci.diSts and the practical classification of master's theses and doctoral dissertations from the Department of Science Education, Seoul National University. But it still needs more revision and enlargement through the continuous application and analysis.

  • This study aims to provide basic data for revitalizing creativity research related to early childhood teachers by analyzing creativity research related to early childhood teachers. For this study, 103 master's and doctoral dissertations in Korea, which were searched through the National Assembly Library and the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), were selected under the themes of 'early childhood teacher', 'creativity', and 'creativity research trends'. The frequency and percentage were calculated by analyzing creativity research related to early childhood teachers with five criteria: research period, research content, research method, research subject, and creativity factor. As a result of the study, first, as for the trends of creativity research related to early childhood teachers, 91 master's theses (88.3%) and 12 doctoral theses (11.7%) were conducted from 1991 to 2022, focusing on master's theses. Second, trends by research content were found in 20 basic studies (19.4%) and 83 practical studies (80.6%). Creativity research related to early childhood teachers is being actively conducted centering on practical research. Third, trends by research method showed 96 quantitative studies (93.2%), 7 qualitative studies (6.8%), and 0 literature studies (0%). Creativity studies related to early childhood teachers were being conducted with a focus on quantitative research. Fourth, the trend by research subject consisted of 100 studies (97.1%) related to early childhood teachers and 3 studies (2.9%) related to pre-service early childhood teachers. Fifth, trends by creativity factor were found in 56 studies (54.4%) related to teacher's variables and 47 studies (45.6%) related to creativity education methods. Studies related to teacher's variables were relatively higher than creativity education methods. As a result of this study, there is a lack of Christian education research in creativity research related to early childhood teachers, so it is expected that it will be done in the future.
