Software Analysis and Design of the Image Acquisition Subsystem Using the Unified Modeling Language

  • Geospatial database, which is the basis for Geo-Spatial Information Systems, is produced by conventional mapping methods. Recently, with increased demand for digital forms of the geospatial database, studies are carried out to automate its production. The automated mapping system is composed of the image acquisition subsystem, positioning subsystem, point referencing subsystem and the visualization subsystem. The image acquisition subsystem is the most important part of the overall production line because it is the starting point and will affect all subsequent processes. This paper presents a software analysis and design of the image acquisition subsystem. The design was carried out using the Unified Modeling Language which is a modeling method used extensively in the software engineering field.

낮은 차원의 벡터 변환을 통한 음성 변환 (Voice conversion using low dimensional vector mapping)

  • In this paper, we propose a voice personality transformation method which makes one person's voice sound like another person's voice. In order to transform the voice personality, vocal tract transfer function is used as a transformation parameter. Comparing with previous methods, the proposed method can obtain high-quality transformed speech with low computational complexity. Conversion between the vocal tract transfer functions is implemented by a linear mapping based on soft clustering. In this process, mean LPC cepstrum coefficients and mean removed LPC cepstrum modeled by the low dimensional vector are used as transformation parameters. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, mapping rules are generated from 61 Korean words uttered by two male and one female speakers. These rules are then applied to 9 sentences uttered by the same persons, and objective evaluation and subjective listening tests for the transformed speech are performed.

  • Mapping brain structural and functional connections through the whole brain is essential for understanding brain mechanisms and the physiological bases of brain diseases. Although region specific structural or functional deficits cause brain diseases, the changes of interregional connections could also be important factors of brain diseases. This review will introduce common neuroimaging modalities, including structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging, and other recent neuroimaging analyses methods, such as voxel-based morphometry, cortical thickness analysis, local gyrification index, and shape analysis for structural imaging. Tract-Based Spatial Statistics, TRActs Constrained by UnderLying Anatomy for diffusion MRI, and independent component analysis for fMRI also will also be introduced.

Geological Mapping using SWIR and VNIR Bands of ASTER Image Data

  • This study aims to extract maximum geological information using the ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection radiometer) images of a part of south India. The area chosen for this study is characterized by rock types such as Migmatite, Magnetite Quartzite, Charnockite, Granite, dykes, Granitoid gneiss and Ultramafic rocks, and minerals such as Bauxite, Magnesite, Iron ores, Calcite etc. Advantage was taken of the characteristic reflectance and absorption phenomenon in the VNIR, SWIR and TIR bands for these rocks and minerals, and they were mapped in detail. Image processing methods such as contrast stretching, PC analysis, band ratios and fusion were used in this study. The results of the processing matched with the field details and showed additional details, thus demonstrating the usefulness of ASTER (especially the SWIR bands) data for better geological mapping.

개념지도를 활용한 팀 기반 학습이 간호대학생의 비판적 사고성향 및 메타인지에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Team-based Learning using Concept Mapping on Critical Thinking Disposition and Metacognition of Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of team-based learning using concept mapping on critical thinking disposition and metacognition on college of nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The experimental group was provided team-based learning using concept mapping. The control group was provided team-based learning. A total of 77 nursing students participated. Results: The experimental group increased significantly in critical thinking, however, there were no significant differences in critical thinking or metacognition between the two groups. The four essential themes extracted were as follows: (1) Expanding the scope of thinking; (2) Strengthening learning competency; (3) Enhancing communication skill; and (4) Burden of new learning method. Conclusion: The findings indicate that team-based learning using concept maps may be an effective teaching-learning method for nursing students.

Linear prediction and z-transform based CDF-mapping simulation algorithm of multivariate non-Gaussian fluctuating wind pressure

  • Methods for stochastic simulation of non-Gaussian wind pressure have increasingly addressed the efficiency and accuracy contents to offer an accurate description of the extreme value estimation of the long-span and high-rise structures. This paper presents a linear prediction and z-transform (LPZ) based Cumulative distribution function (CDF) mapping algorithm for the simulation of multivariate non-Gaussian fluctuating wind pressure. The new algorithm generates realizations of non-Gaussian with prescribed marginal probability distribution function (PDF) and prescribed spectral density function (PSD). The inverse linear prediction and z-transform function (ILPZ) is deduced. LPZ is improved and applied to non-Gaussian wind pressure simulation for the first time. The new algorithm is demonstrated to be efficient, flexible, and more accurate in comparison with the FFT-based method and Hermite polynomial model method in two examples for transverse softening and longitudinal hardening non-Gaussian wind pressures.

Prediction of sharp change of particulate matter in Seoul via quantile mapping

  • In this paper, we suggest a new method for the prediction of sharp changes in particulate matter (PM10) using quantile mapping. To predict the current PM10 density in Seoul, we consider PM10 and precipitation in Baengnyeong and Ganghwa monitoring stations observed a few hours before. For the PM10 distribution estimation, we use the extreme value mixture model, which is a combination of conventional probability distributions and the generalized Pareto distribution. Furthermore, we also consider a quantile generalized additive model (QGAM) for the relationship modeling between precipitation and PM10. To prove the validity of our proposed model, we conducted a simulation study and showed that the proposed method gives lower mean absolute differences. Real data analysis shows that the proposed method could give a more accurate prediction when there are sharp changes in PM10 in Seoul.

데페이즈망 기법을 활용한 투명스크린 프로젝션 맵핑 연구 (A study on the transparent screen projection mapping using depaysement)

  • 초현실주의 대표적인 작가 르네마그리트가 주장한 데페이즈망 기법은 여러매체에 활용되어지고 응용되어 왔다. TV, CF, 광고등 다양한 매체를 통하여 데페이즈망의 기법들을 적용한 흔히 사용되어지는 소재들을 새로운 낯선 환경에 재배치되었을때 고정관념의 탈피와 시각적 충격을 통해 흥미를 부여하고자 하였다. 서로 다른 용도의 투명스크린과 오브제를 활용하여 프로젝션 맵핑의 매체에 접목하여 작품 '환영'에 데페이즈망 기법을 적용하여 낯선 환경을 통해 시각적 즐거움과, 새로운 미디어로써의 가능성과 투명스크린과 오브제를 활용한 프로젝션 맵핑의 기법을 제시하였다. 데페이즈망의 기법에서 대표적인 공간의 변조, 모순된 이미지의 결합, 물체의 변형과 변화 3가지 분류에 의해 표현방법과 효과를 적용하여 작품사례를 제시하였고, 레이아웃, 타이포그래피, 이미지, 컬러, 시간으로 분류하여 유형별 분석하였다. 작품 '환영'을 통해 프로젝션 맵핑과 데페이즈망 기법을 활용한 새로운 오브제와 매체의 특성을 적용하여 확장하였다.

일개 여자중학교의 흡연예방을 위한 참여형 GIS(Geographic Information System) 기반 커뮤니티 맵핑 활동의 효과 (The effect of Community Mapping based on Volunteered Geographic Information System on Smoking Prevention among Female Middle School Students)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of community mapping based on volunteered Geographic Information System on smoking prevention among female middle school students. Methods: This study used a triangulation method which integrated quantitative data from a "pre-post" study on a nonequivalent control group and qualitative data from focus group interviews. Data was collected from 4 August 2015 to 10 January 2016. The experimental group (n=24) participated in community mapping along with education on smoking prevention and the control group (n=28) participated only in routine education. Both groups were measured on their knowledge and attitude related to smoking prevention through self-report questionnaires. The quantitative data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$ analysis, and t-test using SPSS 23.0. The qualitative data was collected through focus group interviews to investigate the social-environmental effect of smoking prevention. Results: Knowledge related to smoking prevention was significantly higher (t=2.591, p=.013) in the experimental group than the control group. But attitude related to smoking prevention did not show significant differences between the two groups. When asked about their experiences of the community mapping program, it turned out to be a process where they could learn practical knowledge related to smoking prevention and experience their individual practices manifested as collective intelligence while working together with community members. The study found that community mapping had an effect on smoking prevention from a social and environmental aspect. Conclusion: To be more effective, school education on smoking prevention should be provided in connection with the community. It is also desirable to provide an opportunity where adolescents can experience discovering and solving practical problems along with their own community.

  • 이동식차량측량시스템(이하 MMS)는 정밀도로지도를 제작하는데 가장 효과적인 도구이다. MMS는 다양한 센서의 조합으로 이루어져 있으며, 제조사별로 제작방법과 처리 소프트웨어가 다르기 때문에 부품의 사양만으로 성능을 예측할 수 없다. 따라서 성능평가를 통해 각 장비가 정밀도로지도 제작에 적합한지 판단을 해야 하며, 주기적인 성능평가를 위한 시설이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 한국건설기술연구원의 SOC실증연구센터에 구축한 MMS 성능평가시설에 대해 설명하고, 문헌조사와 실험을 통해 평가시설이 갖추어야 할 조건에 대해 분석하였다.
