Manual Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis: A Review of Clinical Study (족저근막염의 수기요법에 대한 문헌 연구 보고)

  • Objectives This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of manual therapy for the treatment of plantar fasciitis by reviewing existing randomized controlled trials. Specifically, it seeks to identify various manual therapy techniques and evaluate their applicability in clinical settings. Methods The study reviewed literature from six databases (PubMed, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, ScienceON, Research Information Sharing Service, Korean studies Information Service System) up to April 2024. Studies were selected based on criteria including randomized controlled trials involving manual therapy for plantar fasciitis. Results An analysis of ten studies involving 714 patients revealed the use of techniques such as joint mobilization, muscle relaxation, and pressure point techniques. Manual therapy was found to be more effective in reducing pain than both extracorporeal shock wave therapy and routine physical therapy alone. However, caution is needed in generalizing these results due to the limited number of studies analyzed. No significant adverse effects were reported. Conclusions Manual therapy demonstrates potential as an effective treatment for plantar fasciitis, offering benefits in pain management and functional recovery. However, further high-quality randomized controlled trials are necessary to strengthen the clinical evidence and establish standardized treatment protocols.

Development of a Respiratory Infection Prevention Program for the Rural Elderly in the Post COVID-19 Era: A Study Using Delphi Method of Community Health Practitioners (포스트 코로나 시기 농촌 거주 노인의 호흡기감염 예방 프로그램 개발: 보건진료 전담공무원 대상 델파이 기법)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a respiratory infection prevention program for the rural elderly in the post-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) era. Methods: The Delphi method was used to validate the contents of the program. Two rounds of Delphi surveys and one individual interview were conducted on four subjects and 16 categories with nine experts. Content validity was calculated using the content validity ratio (CVR) and coefficient of variation (CV). Results: This study verified the content validity of the existing program components, such as respiratory infection prevention characteristics, cough etiquette, correct hand washing, oral hygiene, correct tooth brushing, and exercise by walking. The study comprised 28 categories covering seven subjects, including the provision of knowledge and information about COVID-19, environmental management for respiratory infection prevention, and exercise training for immunity enhancement. Conclusion: This Delphi study examined the respiratory infection prevention program that was redesigned for the post-COVID-19 era and confirmed the validity of the educational contents. The findings of this study suggest that the program can be used practically for the prevention of respiratory infection among the rural elderly.

Effects of Unilateral Step Treadmill Training on the Gait Speed and Recovery of Gait Symmetry in Patients with Chronic Stroke (편측성 걸음걸이 트레드밀 훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 보행 속도와 대칭성 회복에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose : Stroke patients exhibit abnormal walking patterns such as slow walking speed and asymmetrical walking values. The recovery of symmetrical walking in the stance phase using a treadmill means improvements in walking speed and asymmetrical walking. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of unilateral step treadmill training (USTT) on gait speed and the recovery of symmetrical walking in chronic stroke patients. Methods : Fifteen patients (11 men and 4 women) with chronic stroke participated in this study. The 10-meter walk test (10MWT) and GAITRite system were used to determine the intervention-related changes in gait speed and symmetrical walking values such as non-paretic step length (NSL), non-paretic step time (NST), paretic single-support time (PSST), step length asymmetry (SLA), and step time asymmetry (STA) after USTT. All participants completed USTT and underwent measurements at 3 different times: at pretest, posttest, and the follow-up test. Repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to compare walking speed and asymmetrical walking values. The statistical significance level was set at p<.05. Results : Walking speed by 10MWT (p<.05) showed significant improvements after USTT as follows: at pretest and posttest (p<.05), posttest and follow-up test (p<.05), and pretest and follow-up test (p<.05). Recovery of symmetrical walking patterns such as NSL (p<.05), NST (p<.05), and SLA (p<.05) were observed after USTT. However, no significant improvements were found in PSST (p>.05) and STA (p>.05) in symmetrical gait. Conclusion : This study suggests that USTT may have a positive effect on walking speed and symmetrical walking patterns in chronic stroke patients. Thus, this study contributes to the existing knowledge about the usefulness of USTT for the effective management of patients with chronic stroke. Further studies are needed to generalize these findings.

  • Big Data is now seen as a major asset in the company's competitiveness, its influence in the future is expected to grow. Companies that recognize the importance are already actively engaged with Big Data in product development and marketing, which are increasingly applied across sectors of society, including politics, sports. However, lack of knowledge of the system implementation and high costs are still a big obstacles to the introduction of Big Data and systems. It is an objective in this study to build a Big Data system, which is based on open source Hadoop and Hive among Big Data systems, utilizing POS sales data of small and medium-sized offline markets. This approach of convergence is expected to improve existing sales systems that have been simply focusing on profit and loss analysis. It will also be able to use it as the basis for the decisions of the executive to enable prediction of the consumption patterns of customer preference and demand in advance.

  • This paper studies VPBL(Various PBL) models, applies them to classes, and analyzes results so that students of various majors can design and implement problems according to the characteristics of their majors in order to improve problem solving in education. VPBL performs the process of designing and implementing problems that reflect the characteristics of the major by applying constraints to the professor's programming language. The professor performs mini_class in the process of solving the designed problem and then shares it throughout. VPBL model apply results, The traditional teaching method was 3.51 points and the application of the VPBL model was 4.52 points, and "interaction, understanding of learning contents, and acquiring knowledge related to curriculum" were improved. In addition, VPBL has the advantage of expanding the learning range in the solving process as it is based on various problem solving, which has the effect of expanding the learning range compared to existing class models. Research on the expanded application of various SW liberal education in the future is required.

A Study on the Illuminance Measurement and Improvement of Public Libraries in Daegu City (공공도서관 조도분석 및 개선방안 연구 - 대구지역을 중심으로 -)

  • The most important identity of public library is local public goods that guarantee access and use of knowledge and information of local residents. To justify this, the library must create an optimal lighting environment. Particularly, since the perception rate of information through vision is over 80%, it is necessary to secure proper illuminance. This study measured the illuminance level of public libraries in Daegu. Based on the results, this study suggested a desirable illuminance level for each space and proposed plans to secure and maintain proper illuminance(prospective revision of the KS A 3011, setting the illuminance range for each space of the local government, replacing the existing lighting fixtures with LED, enhance supervision of lighting management, establishment of basic principles for proper lighting and detailed plans for each space of the library, investigation and reflection on users' complaints and satisfaction, etc.)

  • Nowadays, the amount of image data increase explosively. To manage the large amount of image data efficiently, high-dimensional index structures are necessary. However, as my knowledge none of existing DBMSs supports high-dimensional index structures as access methods of DBMSs. In this paper, we design and implement CIR-Tree as a access method for retrieving image data effectively on the MiDAS-III that is the storage subsystem of the BADA-III. The implemented CIR-Tree manager shows much better retrieval performance than sequential search in performance evaluation.

  • The need for education that meets the strengths and weaknesses of cyber education is raised because there is difference in the characteristics of students and the needs for education between the cyber university, where the education without constraints of time and space is made, and the existing offline universities. Also, it is expected that the satisfaction of students will be greater if the education is provided based on the analysis of the characteristics of students and their demands for education. There are many students already engaged in construction industry. The students entering the construction engineering department in cyber university are Interested in acquiring the theoretical foundation and professional construction knowledge based on practical experience, professional licenses, and career management. Also, they are interested in further studies at graduate school level and add to academic depth. This study suggests the necessity of establishment of construction education system Including objectives and curriculum in cyber university based on the analysis on the characteristics of students and educational needs.

  • The innovation is an important element controlling national economic growth and the competitive power reinforcement of the company. The developed nations concentrate interest on upbringing and investment in knowledge intensive industry and advanced technology base industry for national competitive power reinforcement. I support in particular it as Korean representative industry in the case of the advanced technology base industry positively in the government. Though a patent can become the important competition predominance element of the company by such an advanced technology base industry, this and the proof study in the country to be concerned with are the facts that are not enough now. As for the article of the book, what kind of difference there is in importance by IT and BT industry distinction comment on current events value factors of the patent valuation; of the study is aimed. I derived an importance factor among factors shown in the valuation model of the patent valuation organization and an existing precedent study for comparison analysis in the study and used it. In addition, it was analysis hello it utilized AHP technique, and what kind of difference patent value evaluation important factors showed by IT and BT industry distinction. Analysis, Because patent value evaluation important factors showed a difference by industrial distinction, I appeared.

  • By the development of the network technology, the types and amount of information that users keep in contact with have been dramatically increased. As a result, users are consuming a lot of time and energy to find needed information. On this, this article presents a new methodology that can efficiently manage their information within small cost by using content-based recommendation method and keyword affinity method. By using keyword affinity method, this methodology solves the content-based recommendation method's weak point that the performance is not good within the environment that the preferences of users are rapidly changing and new contents are created continuously and the accuracy level is low until the information of preferences are sufficiently gathered. This article carried out research on the personal e-mail environment where new information is frequently created and disappeared. Also this article assists folder recommendation for the efficient management of e-mail and verified the methodology mentioned above by an experiment to compare the performance of existing folder recommendation methods with the performance of this new method.
