A Forward & Backward Secure Key Management in Wireless Sensor Networks for PCS/SCADA

  • Process Control Systems (PCSs) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems have recently been added to the already wide collection of wireless sensor networks applications. The PCS/SCADA environment is somewhat more amenable to the use of heavy cryptographic mechanisms such as public key cryptography than other sensor application environments. The sensor nodes in the environment, however, are still open to devastating attacks such as node capture, which makes designing a secure key management challenging. In this paper, a key management scheme is proposed to defeat node capture attack by offering both forward and backward secrecies. Our scheme overcomes the pitfalls which Nilsson et al.'s scheme suffers from, and is not more expensive than their scheme.

  • Technology has been viewed at various stages of civilization as leading to future progress. The building, its services systems and management of the work process all contribute to the well-being of people within an organization. Productivity relies on there being a general sense of high morale and satisfaction with the workplace. Now buildings are considered as providing a milieu for human creativity. Flexibility, adaptability, service integration and high standards of finishes offer an intelligence threshold. Building Automation System(BAS) - controlled lighting systems may offer incremental energy saving. Conventional Lighting control systems often control equipment in a single room or over the limited area, because they are centralized control systems, which means that all the controlled circuits must be wired to a single control panel. The computers used by these systems are typically dedicated microprocess that perform only lighting control functions. By comparison, modern Building automation systems are distributed control system, which means that their computing hardware and software are distributed as a network that microprocessor-based control modules and standard PC. PLC(Programmable Logic controller) is extensible virtually without limits, so that all the lighting in a facility can be controlled by single, unified system - the same system that also can control and monitor the building's HVAC, security, and manufacturing processed, elevators, and more. A Building automation system can control light using schedules, manual controls, occupancy sensors, and photosensors, either singly or in combination. Building Lighting control and monitoring system will be for a energy saving and efficient building management system.

  • Critical systems with high reliability feature fault tolerant redundancy. Conventional analytical reliability analysis methods that use the Reliability Block Diagram do not adequately reflect characteristics of the redundancy management system and are not suitable for this applications. This paper uses Monte-Carlo method to calculate the reliability of complicated redundant systems. The method was first validated for cases with analytical solutions. Then, the tool was successfully applied to analyze reliability of the flight control systems with a voter as redundancy management system.

  • A stores management software which is embedded in the stores management system requires high-level reliability and real-time processing. It also required to implement and verify protocols which requires timing constraints to control various weapons. In this paper, we propose design methodology to design a stores management software and its support middleware based on the TMO (Time-triggered Message-triggered Object) model.

  • In this paper, a robust Sliding Mode Variable Structure (SMVS) controller is designed for Active Queue Management (AQM). This type of controller is insensitive to noise and variance of the parameters, thus it is suitable to time varying network systems. Simulation results conform the robust performance of SMVS controller against the disturbance. At the same time, a complete comparison between SMVS and PI controllers is made. The conclusion is that both transient and steady state performance of SMVS controller is better than that of PI one.

  • In cognitive radio systems, secondary users, unlicensed users, can use primary users' spectrum to increase spectrum efficiency. At that time, the systems must satisfy primary users' QoS. When secondary users use cognitive radio systems, secondary users communication can be terminated, because of satisfying primary users' QoS. However, secondary users' communication terminating is not good for both secondary users and whole systems. So, cognitive radio systems need an efficient algorithm for secondary users of admission control and keeping connections. In this paper, we present an algorithm which consist of two part, admission control and connections control.

Deming prize and malcolm baldrige national quality award

  • Total Quality Management (TQM) is the aggregated management philosophy for quality including production, operation, human resource, leadership, marketing, and etc. TQM is the advanced concept and philosophy rather than traditional "Quality Control" or "Quality Assurance". Nowadays, downstream costs has been increased, that made cost accountants' attention to costs of quality. Many countries have developed their own quality awards system in order to improve overall national quality level. The Deming Prize of Japan and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) of United States are two representatives of quality prizes. We compared the two awards by means of their history, objective, coverage, and judging criteria. Deming Prize has a longer history than MBNQA. Deming Prize selects five winners a year, while MBNQA has two or three areas. The biggest difference is judgement criteria. The Deming Prizes focuses on statistical control which is a traditional quality control method, while MBNQA concentrates on modem business concept such as customer satisfaction. The suggestions to these awards are: evaluate more on information of quality; evaluate more on inter-functional relationship between quality control function and other link more financial success.e financial success.

  • Korea Aerospace Research Institute takes part in the vibration control software development for an Active Vibration Control System (hereafter, AVCS) for helicopters with Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. in the Light Civil Helicopter (LCH) Project. The vibration control software is being developed per RTCA/DO-178C certification regulation and use of configuration management tools for software outputs is required. Redmine, an open source software is for issue or bug tracking and management software. Git, another open source software is a distributed version control software and is developed for Linux OS development. This paper introduces the functionalities of Redmine and Git, the reason why they are selected for the configuration management tool for the software outputs, and how they are being used for AVCS software development.

  • Recently, internal information leaks is increasing rapidly by internal employees and authorized outsourcing personnel. In this paper, we propose a method to integrate internal control systems like system access control system and Digital Rights Managements and so on through expansion model of SIEM(Security Information Event Management system). this model performs a analysis step of security event link type and validation process. It develops unit scenarios to react illegal acts for personal information processing system and acts to bypass the internal security system through 5W1H view. It has a feature that derives systematic integration scenarios by integrating unit scenarios. we integrated internal control systems like access control system and Digital Rights Managements and so on through expansion model of Security Information Event Management system to defend leakage of internal information and customer information. We compared existing defense system with the case of the expansion model construction. It shows that expanding SIEM was more effectively.
