  • Perturbation thorpe for quantum mechanics is extended to the derivation of a power equation for microwave propagation in a rectangular waveguiad filled with N-type silicon which is transversely magnetized. This approximation evolves in a unified manner from the eigenvalue formulation of maxwell's equation wherein the wave numbers are tthe eigenvalues of a linear operator. TE10 wave at 9.61GHz is employed for the experimental investigation of the microwave propagation through a transversely magnetized semiconductor. Results from first order perturbation agree well with the experiment where the bridge method using two Magic Tees is employed.

  • Understanding of charging properties of a small particle is necessary to control the particle contamination and to improve productivity of the electronic device in the plasma aided semiconductor manufacturing processes. In this study, the effects of both magnetic field and particle size on the charging properties are experimentally investigated in collisional dusty plasmas. The experiments carried out in the system consisted of a monodisperse particle generation system, a DC magnetized plasma generation system and a charge measurement system. The plasma chamber is made of cross-shape Pyrex surrounded by magnetic bucket (composed of 12 permanent magnetic bar) to confine the plasma. DC magnetic field up to 250G are applied to the plasma zone by external magnetic coil. Previous work shows the charging effect clearly increase with increasing the size of the particle and plasma density, as it was expected.

  • Magnetic coupling is used where required high reliability. because magnetic coupling's durability is stronger than mechanical coupling's durability. This paper shows the characteristics of radially magnetized tubular type magnetic coupling by using Analytical method such as space harmonic method. Analytical method was used, to find force characteristics. First, on the basis of the magnetic vector potential and two-dimensional(2-D) polar-coordinate system, the magnetic field solutions of the radially magnetized permanent magnet are obtained. And we obtain the analytical solutions for the flux density produced by permanent magnet. Finally, we can calculate the force by using the Maxwell stress tensor. And then, Finite element method(FEM) is used to validate force characteristics.

  • Partially magnetized capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) sources are investigated using a two-dimensional kinetic simulation code named EDIPIC-2D. A converging numerical solution was obtained for CCP with a 60 MHz power source, while properly capturing the dynamics of electrons and power absorption over a single RF period. The effects of magnetic fields with different orientations were evaluated. Axial magnetic fields caused changes in the spatial distribution of plasma density, affecting the loss channel. Transverse magnetic fields enhanced stochastic heating near the powered electrode, leading to an increase in plasma density while the significant E×B drift loss compensated for this rise.

  • In order to investigate the effects of added magnetized water on the callus induction and plant regeneration in rice, 700G(G=Gauss) magnetized water were used. The callus in-duction and plant regeneration of rice in magnetized water treatment are different from the callus induction and plant regeneration in ionic water treatment. The rates of callus induction in magnetized water media were 27.3% in solid media and 15.4% in liquid which were compared to that of callus induction in the ionic water media 21 and 13.3%. Also plant regeneration frequency in the magnetic water media is 5.4% better than that of the ionic water media. And dissolved oxgen amount of magnetic culture media is from 0.1 ppm to 0.9 ppm more than that of ionic culture media. The pH value was increased with rising of water temperature, and the magnetic water was effected at increasing of pH value.

  • Astrophysics has been one of the disciplines which utilize actively supercomputers for their researches. In this paper, studies of astrophysical flows by large scale numerical simulations in supercomputers are discussed. The followings are described: 1) characteristics of astrophysical flows, 2) numerical codes to study astrophysical flows, 3) performance of the codes in parallel supercomputers. A couple of examples of such studies are briefly presented: 1) three-dimensional evolution of the nonlinear Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in a magnetized medium, 2) three-dimensional simulations of astrophysical jets in a magnetized medium.

  • in this paper, the propagation characteristics of the dominant modes in multiple coupled microstrip lines on a magnetized ferrite substrate are analyzed. The propagation constants and characteristic impedances are calculated by using the spectral domain method. With the numerical results, multi-port impedance parameters as well as scattering parameters are derived from nonreciprocal transmission line equations which are consistent with conventional transmission line theory. In additon, the numerical resutls of nonreciprocal characteristics for various values of structural, material parameters, and external magnetic fields are also presented.

  • New ion beam etcher (IBE) using a magnetized inductively coupled plasma (M-ICP) has been developed. The magnetic flux density distributions inside the upper chamber, where the plasma is generated by inductive coupling, were successfully optimized by arranging a pair of circular coils very carefully. More importantly, the proposed M-ICP IBE exhibits higher etch rate than ICP.

  • Generally, two methods can be used to correct the undesirable magnetic field of MRI. One is active shimming method and the other is passive shimming. Passive shimming method uses many magnetized shims to correct the field. And it involves hardwared for supporting shim trays and a software to calculate a field map and optimaze the locations of the shims[1]. The software is the most important part of the passive shimming system. We made a prototype of the software and tested it in a virtual situation.
