We demonstrate the capability of differential-phase optical coherence tomography (DP-OCT) to detect superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles taken up by liver parenchymeal macrophages (Kupffer cells). We apply an external time-varying high-intensity focused magnetic field. Our experiments demonstrate a novel diagnostic modality to detect macrophages that have taken up SPIO nanoparticles. Magnetic force acting on the nanoparticles was varied by applying a sinusoidal current to a solenoid containing a conical iron core that substantially increased and focused the magnetic field strength ($B_{max}$ = 2 Tesla). $ApoE^{-/-}$ mice were sacrificed 2 days post intravenous injections of different SPIO doses (1.0, and 0.1 mmol Fe/kg body weight). Livers of $ApoE^{-/-}$ mice with and without injection of SPIO nanoparticles were investigated using DP-OCT, which detects tissue movement with nanometer resolution. Frequency response of iron-laden liver movement was twice the stimulus frequency. Movement was not observed in livers of control mice. Results of our experiments indicate DP-OCT is a candidate methodology to detect tissue based macrophages containing SPIO nanoparticles excited by an external focused magnetic field.
Electromagnetic forming (EMF) technology, which is one of the high speed forming methods, has been used for the forming process in various industry fields. Numerical approach by finite element simulation of the EMF process is presented in this study. The implicit code is used to obtain the numerical model of the time-varying currents that are discharged through the coil in order to obtain the transient magnetic forces. In addition, the body forces generated in the workpiece are used as the loading condition to analyze deformation of thin sheet metal workpiece using explicit code. Numerical approach for a dimpled shape by EMF process is carried out and the simulated results of the dimpled shape by EMF are reviewed in view of the deformed shape and formability evaluation.
The USM uses friction between a mobile part (rotor) and a vibration part(stator), which is different from the principle of the conventional motor based on the interaction of electric and magnetic fields. In this thesis, a flat-type $L_1-B_8$ mode USM was designed and fabricated the characteristics of an ultrasonic vibration. The results of fabricated USM are as follows: (1) In case of ultrasonic motor with elastic-body of stainless, when applied voltage, frequency, pressing force of rotor were 50 [V], 27.9 [kHz], 1.5 [N], 5.0[mN m] respectively, the speed of revolution could be presented up to 0 [cm/s]. (2) In case of ultrasonic motor with elastic-body of brass, when applied voltage, frequency, pressing force of rotor were 50 [V], 21.4 [kHz], 1.5 [N], 1.4[mN m]respectively, the speed of rotor revolution was presented up to 0 [cm/s]. (3) The USM of elastic-body of stainless showing 1.17[%], somewhat low, in the maximum efficiency according to torque was superior to the USM of elastic-body of brass showing 0.34 [%]. The Flat-type $L_1-B_8$ mode USM had characteristics of typical drooping torque-speed, large torque and high speed, and operating in both directions by phase reversal.
Even after the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011, the rate of production of electric energy using nuclear energy is increasing, but there is a great danger such as the radioactive waste produced when using nuclear power, the catastrophic accident of nuclear power plant, and connection with nuclear weapons. In particular, Cs present in the ionic form of alkaline elements has a long half-life (30.17 years) because it is readily absorbed by the organism and emits intense gamma rays, thus presenting a serious radiation hazard. Therefore, it must be completely removed before it can be released into the natural ecosystem, because it can adversely affect not only humans but also natural ecosystems. Many adsorbents and ion exchangers which have high Cs removal efficiency have been used in recent years to completely separate and remove by self separation in water. Many adsorbents and ion exchangers which have high Cs removal efficiency have been used in recent years to completely separate and remove by self separation in water. In addition, researches have been doing to synthesize magnetic materials with adsorbents such as HCF and PB, and it shows a great effect in the removal rate of Cs present in wastewater or the maximum Cs adsorption amount. In particular, when a magnetic material was applied, excellent results were obtained in which only Cs was selectively removed from other cations. However, new problems such as applicability in the sea where Cs is directly released, applicability in various pH ranges, and failure to preserve the magnetizing force possessed by the magnetic body have been found. However, researches using ferromagnetic field with stronger magnetic properties than those of magnetic bodies is considered to be insufficient. Therefore, it is considered that if the researches combining the ferromagnetic field with the magnetization ability and functional adsorbents more actively, the radioactive material Cs which adversely affects the natural ecosystem can be effectively removed.
An object transport system is driven by a conveyor belt system or a magnetic levitation system. It is an indispensable device in many fields and especially it is very important in the factory automation. However, the conventional transport system can damage precision optical components by the contact force and destroy the inner structure of semiconductor by the magnetic field. The new transport system for transporting without damage is required. The ultrasonic transport system is a device that transports objects on the elastic body using ultrasonic wave. In this paper, an object transport system using the ultrasonic wave is developed for transporting precision elements without damage. Traveling waves are generated by the ultrasonic wave generator fixed in both ends of the beam. The traveling wave of the ultrasonic transport system is theoretically analyzed. Transport direction of the object is examined according to phase difference and frequency. The theoretical results are verified by experiments.
In this paper, a new modeling of a fine actuator for an optical pick-up has been proposed and multiobjective optimization of the actuator has been performed. The fine actuator is constituted of the bobbin which is supported by wire suspension, the coils which wind around the bobbin, and the magnets which cause the magnetic flux. If current flows in the coils, magnetic force is so produced as to be balanced with spring force of wire, so the bobbin is pisitioned. In this model the transfer function from input voltage to output displacementof bobbin has been obtained so that we can describe this integrated system with electromagnetic and mechanical parts. Wire suspension is regarded as a continuous Euler beam, damper as distributed viscous damping, and bobbin as a rigid body which can move up- and down- ward motion only. According to the model, the high frequency dynamic characteristics of the fine actuator can be known and the effect of damping can be investigated while the conventional second order model cannot. In multiobjective optimization, two objective functions have been chosen to maximize the fundamental frequency and the sensitivity with respect to the input voltage of the actuator so that Pareto's optimal solutions have been obtained using .epsilon.-constraint method. These objective functions will satisfy the trends which will enhance the access speed and reduce the tracking error in the optical pick-up technology of next generation. In the result of optimization, we obtain the designs of the optical pick-up fine actuator which has high speed, high sensitivity and low resonant peak. Furthermore, we offer the relation between two object functions so that the designer can make easy choice.
For the accurate analysis of motional characteristics of electrical machines, it is needed to solve the motion equations together with the electromagnetic field equations. In this paper the sequential coupling of systems, the spring mass system and the electromagnetic system, is adopted. The induced current and the magnetic fields are calculated by FEM with given speed. And then, with the computed electromagnetic force, the mechanical equations are solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The above to processes are repeated sequentially to obtain the time domain solutions. The resultant values are applied to the energy conservation law to prove the usefulness of the proposed sequential method.
Effects of microstructure of two Mg-ferrite specimens with the same starting composition and relative density but with different grain size on B-H hysteresis loop, natural resonance frequency, and ferromagnetic resonance line width are reported. Such properties as B-H hysteresis loop, saturation magnetization, natural resonance frequency, and ferromagnetic resonance line width were influenced by the microstructure development during sintering. Large grain size specimen showed high saturation magnetization, low coercive force, low natural resonance frequency, and low ferromagnetic resonance line width compared with the specimen of small grain size. The main reason for the changes in properties can be explained by the variation in anisotropic characteristics due to Fe+2 content generated during sintering process.

In this study, basic concepts of magnet were introduced, and dynamic characteristics of magnet coupling were explored. Based on these characteristics, it was proposed how to analyze transverse and torsional vibrations of a spindle system with magnet coupling. Proposed theoretical approaches were applied to a precision power transmission system machined for this study, and the transverse and torsional vibrations were simulated. The force on magnet coupling was shown as a form of nonlinear function of the gap and the eccentricity. Also, the form of torque transmitted by magnet coupling was considered as a sinusoidal function. Main spindle connected to a coupling of a follower part was assumed to be a rigid body. Nonlinear partial differential equation was derived to be as a function of angular displacement. By using the equation, torsional vibration analysis of a spindle system with magnet coupling was performed. Free and forced vibration analyses of a spindle system with magnetic coupling were explored by using FEM.
