  • This paper presents the dynamic analysis of a reciprocating actuation system based on moving magnet actuator for gas compression. For the analysis of the linear actuator, an axisymmetric finite element method (FEM) considering the saturation effect of the magnetic material is used, and electrical circuit equation, mechanical dynamic equation and pressure dynamics are coupled. In the FE analysis, we adopt a moving line technique. The pressure dynamics of the gas in the compressor is modeled by using the law of thermodynamics. The analysis results are compared fairly well with experimental ones.

  • In this paper, we designed bio-signal acquisition system in Magnetic Resonance Imager(MRI) Environment. In MRI Environment, Strong RF Pulse and Gradient Field Switching Noise exist and can cause distortion of ECG. By this, ECG can lose their important information. So we proposed a bio-signal acquisition system with robust immunity to RF pulse and gradient switching noise. In conclusions, the proposed system showed the prevent saturation of measured biosignal and possibility of using cardiac gating and respiration gating method.

  • The effects of transient inrush currents on the dynamic characteristics of percentage differential relays are studied when the power transformers are reenergized. An algorithm of estimation the nonlinear magnetic property of power transformer and current trnasformer core are developed. Using this method, we can analyze the effect of inrush currents on the trip region of the percentage differential relays corresponding to the variation of the phase angle and the residual magnetism at the instant of switch closing. Test results are used to verify the availibility of the proposed algorithm. Finally a case study is performed to the 110 MVA main transformer in hydraulic power station.

  • To prevent maloperation during magnetic inrush and over-excitation, a current differential relay for power transformers uses harmonic current based restraining or blocking scheme; it also uses dual slope characteristics to prevent maloperation for an external fault with CT saturation. This paper proposes a current differential relaying algorithm for power transformers with an advanced compensation algorithm for the secondary current of CTs. The comparative study was conducted with and without the compensating algorithm. The algorithm can reduce the operating time of the relay in the case of an internal fault and improve security for external faults.

  • This paper describes a current-shaping method for the production of constant torque of SRM under the nonlinear magnetic saturation condition. A current detection technique in the inductance increasing region and an approximation technique for modeling of nonlinear inductance profile are adopted. In the proposed system, a single switching angle control and voltage control is used to shape the current waveform for the generation of flat torque at any given load condition. Finally the validity of the proposed method was verified using a constructed 3HP 6/4 SRM.

  • In this paper, an adaptive speed controller with an FNN(Feedforward Neural Network) is proposed for servo motor drives. Generally, the motor system has nonlinearities in friction, load disturbance and magnetic saturation. It is necessary to treat the nonlinearities for improving performance in servo control. The FNN can be applied to control and identify a nonlinear dynamical system by learning capability. In this study, at first, a robust speed controller is developed by Lyapunov stability theory. However, the control input has discontinuity which generates an inherent chattering. To solve the problem and to improve the performances, the FNN is introduced to convert the discontinuous input to continuous one in error boundary. The FNN is applied to identify the inverse dynamics of the motor and to control the motor using coordination of feedforward control combined with inverse motor dynamics identification. The proposed controller is developed for an SR motor which has highly nonlinear characteristics and it is compared with an MRAC(Model Reference Adaptive Controller). Experiments on an SR motor illustrate te validity of the proposed controller.

  • A new primary-side-assisted zero-voltage and zero-current switching full bridge DC-DC converter with transformer isolation is proposed. The auxiliary circuit adopted to assist ZCS for the leading leg is composed of only one small transformer and two diodes. It has a simple and robust structure, and load current control capability even in short circuit conditions. Possibility of magnetic saturation due to asymmetricity of circuits or transient phenomena is greatly reduced, which is a very attractive feature in DC/DC converters with transformer isolation. The power rating of the auxiliary transformer is about 10% of that of the main transformer. Operation of a 12.5KW prototype designed for welding application was verified by experiments.

  • This paper discusses dynamic properties of bubble garnet thin films. The dynamic properties considered are Gilbert damping parameters, saturation velocity, and wall mobility. The parameters are evaluated to facilitate the search for desirable garnet thin film compositions. Given bubble diameter and Q-value, the computer prints out all compositions which meet the desired requirements. The computer model determines magnetization, anisotropy, damping, velocity, mobility among others from the film compositions. The computer modeling program is described by an algorithm detailing its operation.

  • This paper presents a method for determining of the equivalent d-q model parameters of three-phase squirrel cage induction motors. The method is based on the use of a finite-element field calculation which enables the precise slot geometry to be modelled accurately, and includes the effects of magnetic saturation of iron core. The proposed method can reduce computational costs compared with the method that needs the iterative field analysis to obtain the impedance. It is verified that the circuit inductances are shown as functions of the current.

  • The Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has good properties to the adjustable speed control. But, high torque ripple and noise decrease this merit and make unstable state. Also, because of the saturation in the magnetic circuit, it is difficult to predict the inductance profile. If the inductance pronto is known, it's possible to make flat-top torque by applying some control strategy. This paper suggests method to develope flat-top torque using a Artificial Neural Network(ANN) method that can calculate a nonlinear inductance profile.
