In this study, several nickel catalysts for the steam-hydrocarbon reforming process were prepared from various nickel salt, magnesium oxide, alumina and kaolinite. The activity and strength of the catalysts were investigated. 1. The proper composition of the calcined catalysts are: NiO (5-15%)-MgO(10-20%)-$Al_2O_3$(10-40%)-Kaolinite(50-80%). 2. The admixed or cosedimented ingredients of the catalysts was pelletized and calcinated at 1000 or $1150^{\circ}C$. Calcination at $1150^{\circ}C$ for an hour was optimum. 3. The water to oil ratio (W/O) for reforming of hexane should be above 7 mole/mole. As the W/O increases, more carbon dioxide and hydrogen, but less carbon monoxide was produced. Also carbon deposition become lessen at higher W/O. 4. Maximum conversion had attained at about $850^{\circ}C$. As the reaction temperature increases, more carbon monoxide and hydrogen, but less carbon dioxide and lower hydrocarbon was produced. 5. The percent conversion at $850^{\circ}C$ was about 80%, using a catalyst which the nickel oxide content are 5%.
Three kinds of organometallic compounds (chromium acetylacetonate, magnesium acetate and vanadyl acetylacetonate) were used as transition metal precursor, titanium n-butoxide and multi-walled carbon nanotube as titanium and carbon precursor to prepare metal oxide-CNT/$TiO^2$ composites. The surface properties and morphology of metal oxide-CNT/$TiO^2$ composites were by Brauer-Emett-Teller (BET) surface area measurement, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The photocatalytic activity of prepared metal oxide-CNT/$TiO^2$ composites was determined by the degradation effect of methylene blue in an aqueous solution under irradiation of visible light.
Alkaline-earth porcelains have been prepared from mixture of kaolin, quartz, and synthetic calcines obtained by calcining a mixture of kaolin and more than two different kinds of alkaline-earth carbonates. They were magnesium, calcium and barium carbonates which are inexpensive and readily available. The vitrification behavior of the batch mixes was investigated in the firing range of 1240$^{\circ}$to 1380$^{\circ}$, in relation to the body compositions. It appeared that the density and the firing temperature depended largely on the content of alkaline-earth oxides in the body. These porcelains posses excellant dielectric properties, and are especially valuable as bases for deposited carbon resistors for which they were developed. An illustrative composition is 50% Dong Hwa kaolin, 22.4% Chang Shin quartz, 27.6% calcine. The composition of the calcine is 70% Dong Hwa kaolin, 10.7% BaCO3, 13.5% CaCO3, 5.8% MgCO3. The specific resistance of this body is $1.2{\times}10^{15}$ ohm-cm at 5$0^{\circ}C$, $2.5{\times}10^{14}$ ohm-cm 10$0^{\circ}C$, $2.5{\times}10^{13}$ ohm-cm at 15$0^{\circ}C$, $1.8{\times}10^{12}$ohm-cm at 20$0^{\circ}C$.
The effect of the addition of various fluoreides on the mullitization of Korean crude kaolin was studied by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopic methods. Kaolin without any addition of fluoreides began to be transformed into the mullite at 1, 10$0^{\circ}C$. Mullite peaks were discernible in the X-ray diffraction patterns of the specimens which contained fluorides equivalent to about 2 wt % fluorine, and which were sintered at 1, 05$0^{\circ}C$. The higher the concentration of fluorine in kaolin, the lower was the initiatinig temperature of mullitization. Experiments , for example, showed that mullite could be formed at 95$0^{\circ}C$ from kaolin mixed with 3.4% fluorine. Of the fluoride, addtives, sodiumsiliconfluoride $(Na_2SiF_6)$ was must effective in mullite formation of kaolin. In order of accelerating mullitization, the fluorides except $Na_2SiF_6$ could be placed in following sequence ; (1) sodium (NaF) (2) aluminium$(AlF_3)$ (3)potassium(KF) (4) ammonium$(NH_4F)$ (5) magnesium$(MgF_2)$ (6) calcium$(CaF_2)$. It was considered that the intrinsic characteristics of fluorides, such as size of ionic radiu, charge , bond strength between cation and anion, and electronegativity of cation affected millitization of halloysite, a main constituent mineral of kaolin.

제조 되어진 PMN후막 페이스트는 PMN(Pb(Mg1/2 Nb2/3)O3) + Glass Frit(Pb-Zn-B) + BaTiO3(99.99%) 로 합성되었으며 하부전극위에 인쇄하였다.
On the combination of antacid, the pharmacokinetics and gastric adhesion of [$^{14}c$]aceglutamide aluminium complex([$^{14}C$]AGA) were examined in rats. Specially, this study was focused on the drug interaction that the co-administration of antacid may affect the oral absorption and gastric adhesion of aceglutamide aluminium complex(AGA). In the study of the oral co-administration of [$^{14}C$] AGA and antacid(aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide(AM)), the radioactivity of plasma and urinary recovery was lower than that of [$^{14}C$]AGA alone administered group. However, the cumulative recovery of radioactivity in feces was increased significantly. The comparative bioavailability of [$^{14}C$] AGA from the plasma concentration-time curve and urinary recovery was about 60%. In vitro, the effect of antacid on the gastric adhesion of AGA was not significatly different between AGA and AGA/antacid treatment. And it accorded well with the result of in vivo experiment. In conclusion, on the combination of antacid, the oral absorption of AGA was decreased by the gastric adhesion was not affected in respect of drug interaction.
HEMA/vinyl-substituted polyphosphazene was prepared by the ring-opening polymerization of phosphonitrillic chroride trimer at $200{\sim}300\;{^{\circ}C}$, followed by Grignard reaction with vinyl magnesium bromide and then by the reaction with HEMA(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate). HEMA/vinyl-substituted polyphosphazene was copolymerized with EGDMA(ethylene glycol dimethacrylate; used as a cross-linker for the free-radical copolymerization), NVP (N-vinyl-pyrrolidone) in the presence of AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) as a radical initiator. The oxygen transmissibility, water content and visible-ray transmissibility of the resulting copolymer were measured to be Dk/t 88, 30.89% and 87%, respectively, indicating that the copolymer can be used as a good contact lens material.
Many properties of inorganic compounds are sensitive to changes in the point-defect concentrations. In minerals, such changes are influenced by temperature, pressure, and chemical impurities. Olivines form an important class of minerals and are magnesium-rich solid solutions consisting of the orthosilicates forsterite $Mg_2SiO_4$ and the fayalite $Fe_2SiO_4$. Orthosilicates have an orthorhombic crystal structure and exhibit anisotropic electronic and ionic transport properties. We examined the anisotropy of the electrical conductivity of $Fe_2SiO_4$ under the assumption that the electronic conduction in $Fe_2SiO_4$ occurs via a small polaron hopping mechanism. The anisotropic electrical conductivity is well explained by the electron transfer integrals obtained from the spin dimer analysis based on tight-binding calculations. The latter analysis is expected to provide insight into the anisotropic electrical conductivities of other magnetic insulators of transition metal oxides.

The Pneumococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, has an ample polysaccharide (PS) capsule that is highly antigenic and is the main virulence factor of the organism. The capsular PS is the source of PS vaccine. This investigation was undertaken to optimize the culture conditions for the production of capsular PS by type 4 pneumococcus. Among several culture media, brain heart infusion (BHI) and Casitone based medium were found to support luxuriant growth of pneumococcus type 4 at the same level. Therefore in this study, the Casitone based medium was used to study optimization of the culture condition because of BHI broth's high cost and complex nature. The phase of growth which accomodated maximum PS production was exponential phase. Concentrations of glucose greater than 0.8% did not enhance growth or PS production. Substitution of nitrogen sources with other resources or supplementation of various concentrations of metal ion (with the exception of calcium, copper, and magnesium ions) had adverse effects on growth and PS production. On the other hand, low level aeration and supplementation of 3 mg/l concentration of asparagine, phenylalanine, or threonine were beneficial for increased PS production. The synergistic effect of all the favorable conditions observed in pneumococcal growth assays provided a two-fold cumulative increase in capsular PS production.
This study was conducted to investigate the dietary effects of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) supplementation on growth, hematological and immune responses of grey mullet, Mugil cephalus. Three replicate groups of grey mullet (body length, $62.8{\pm}1.04\;mm$ ; body weight, $3.2{\pm}0.13\;mg$) were fed the experimental diets with 0 (control), 1, 2.5 and 5,0 % of LAB for 3 months. Total body length growth rate was increased in 2.5 % supplementation group compared to control (P<0.05). No differences were observed in hematological parameters (hematocrit, hemoglobin, RBCs) and serum chemistry (calcium, magnesium, total protein, glucose, GOT and GPT). The antioxidant activity of grey mullet fed the 5.0 % LAB diets was significantly higher than that of other groups (P<0.05). Both intracellular superoxide anion production and lysozyme activity of kidney were higher in the 2.5 % LAB diet than in the control (P<0.05).
