Design of Phase Tracking Feedback Compensator for Stabilization of Single Mode Fiber-Optic Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (단일모드 광섬유Mach-Zehnder 간섭계의 안정화를 위한 위상 추적 궤환 보상기의 설계)

  • Single mode optical fiber interferometeric sensors using phase tracking homodyne detection are typically susceptible to environmentally indured temperature fluctuations and other types of disturbances. A simple and effective phase tracking feedback electronic circuit for compensator is described to achieve stabilizing signal output, maximum sensitivity and linearity in the fiber optic Mach-Zehnder infterferometer in the presence of differential phase drift. The phase tracking range of the piezoelectric cyclinder in the reference arm is \ulcorner.7 \ulcornerad and the prabe mass about 1 gram in the sensing arm was used for measurements of the gravity acceleration.

  • A signal processor for interferometeric fiber optic sensors, which measure dynamic quantities of frequency up to 1 KHz with high sensitivity, is developed. It is a high-speed version of the all-digital phase tracking (ADPT) processor that was used to measure static or slowly-varying quantities. The processor was applied to a fiber optic Mach-Zehnder interferometer to evaluate the performance. The measured total harmonic distortion was near to -50 ㏈, which is the theoretical limit or the ADPT signal processing.

  • This paper proposes a frequency-doubling optoelectronic oscillator employing a novel three-arm dual-output Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM). One output of the MZM generates the fundamental-frequency signal which is recycled by the microwave optical fiber link for oscillation, and the other output can generate the frequency-doubled signal. Experiment was conducted using a commercial two-arm MZM, a phase modulator, and an optical fiber link of 89 meters in length. A 19-GHz frequency-doubled signal was successively obtained with fundamental signal suppression more than 36 dB.

  • We have proposed and demonstrated a novel method of heterodyne detection using all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The method is characterized by the phase modulation with a sawtooth waveform instead of a frequency modulation in true heterodyne. The experimental results will be compared with the expected results.

  • A digital watermark is an invisible mark embedded in a digital image which used for copyright protection. In this paper, we propose a new optical watermarking system. A optical watermarking system is applied for digital watermarking by phase hologram and Mach-Zehnder interferometer. A optical watermarking technique to be hidden is phase modulated in a random patten, and its Fourier-transformed hologram image is superposed on a content image. The autentication information extract by using Mach-zehnder interferometer.

  • Sorce noise effect in 1.5 Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometer is analyzed. It is shown numerically that with fine adjustments to the feedback gain and initial phase biases, the operating point of the interferometer to achives common mode compensation can be made to lie in a region where the measurand sensitivity is greater than it would be in a conventional Mach-Zehnder interferometer even if the source is less coherent.

  • A guided-wave electrooptic Mach-Zehnder interferometric modulator was fabricated on Y-cut acoustic grade LiNbO3 process. In order to reduce the electrode capacitance, serial capacitance electrode(SCE) structure was adopted. Extinction ratio more than 30dB was obtained with V$\pi$ of 4.69 volt at λ= 0.6328${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Frequency response was measured by using the swept frequency technique, and the bandwidth of the modulator was about 1GHz.

  • In this paper, it is analyzed the statistical characteristics on the transmission performance of the optical SCM transmission in the CDMA RF signal relay system. Using Mach-Zehnder modulator, optical signal is regenerated into CDMA RF signal. Transfer function model of mach-Zehnder modulator is approximated to the third power of the input signal using Taylor series. BER results are analyzed under the multiple access interference and multi-path fading environment.

  • We Propose a novel structure add/drop multiplexer based on an all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer and fiber Bragg grating. In this structure, wavelength separation is achieved by adjusting the amount of the phase shift in the Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The proposed add/drop multiplexer drops a part of signal at a specific wavelength and transmit the remnant of the signal to the different node separated wavelength in WDM network.
