  • We examine the weaknesses of the existing OOXML-based MS-Word file structure, and analyze how data concealment and forgery are performed in MS-Word digital documents. In case of forgery by including hidden information in MS-Word digital document, there is no difference in opening the file with the MS-Word Processor. However, the computer system may be malfunctioned by malware or shell code hidden in the digital document. If a malicious image file or ZIP file is hidden in the document by using the structural vulnerability of the MS-Word document, it may be infected by ransomware that encrypts the entire file on the disk even if the MS-Word file is normally executed. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze forgery and alteration of digital document through internal structure analysis of MS-Word file. In this paper, we designed and implemented a mechanism to detect this efficiently and automatic detection software, and presented a method to proactively respond to attacks such as ransomware exploiting MS-Word security vulnerabilities.

  • This paper designs access control system for MS-word(Microsoft-word) document system. The system designed in this paper uses the document-related information by analyzing the MS-word document structure. It is designed to block access to users who can not access the modified information by partially modifying MS-word document information. This makes it impossible to read documents other than those who have access to the MS-word document. This allows you to control access to the MS-word document. A user with access to the MS-word document will be able to retrieve the modified information back to the original information so that the document can be read normally. In this paper, we design and implement experiments. In the experiment, we performed document access if MS-word document information was modified. Experimental results show that the MS-word access control system operates normally.

  • The association, word frequency and imagery have been considered as the main factors that affect the word recognition. The present study aimed to examine the imagery effect and the interaction of the association effect while controlling the frequency effect. To explain the imagery effect, we compared the two theories (dual-coding theory, context availability model). The lexical decision task using priming paradigm was administered. The duration of prime words was manipulated as 20ms, 50ms, and 450ms in experiments 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The association and imagery of prime words were manipulated as the main factors in each of the three experiments. In experiment 1, the duration of prime words (20ms) which is expected to not activate the semantic context enough to affects the word recognition was used. As a result, only imagery effect was statically significant. In experiment 2, the duration of prime word was 50ms, which we expected to activate the semantic context without perceptual awareness. The result showed both the association and imagery effects. The interaction between the two effects was also significant. In experiment 3, to activate the semantic context with perceptual awareness, the prime words were presented for 450ms. Only association effect was statically significant in this experimental condition. The results of the three experiments suggest that the influence of the imagery was at the early stages of word recognition, while the association effect appeared rather later than the imagery. These results implied that the two theories are not contrary to each other. The dual-coding theory just concerned imagery effect which affects the early stage of word recognition, and context-availability model is more for the semantic context effect which affects rather later stage of word recognition. To explain the word recognition process more completely, some integrated model need to be developed considering not only the main 3 effects but also the stages which extends along the time course of the process.

  • Many electronic document files, including Microsoft Office Word (MS Word), have become a major issue in various legal disputes such as privacy, contract forgery, and trade secret leakage. The internal metadata of OOXML (Office Open XML) format, which is used since MS Word 2007, stores the unique Revision Identifier (RSID). The RSID is a distinct value assigned to a corresponding word, sentence, or paragraph that has been created/modified/deleted after a document is saved. Also, document history, such as addition/correction/deletion of contents or the order of creation, can be tracked using the RSID. In this paper, we propose a methodology to investigate discrimination between the original document and copy as well as possible document file leakage by utilizing the changes of the RSID according to the user's behavior.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to analyze security vulnerabilities of MS word-processor by checking the validation of its input files. That is, this study is to detect some vulnerabilities in the input file of the word processor by analyzing the header information of its input file. This validation test can not be conducted by the existing software fault injection tools including Holodeck and CANVAS. The proposed method can be also applied to identify the input file vulnerabilities of Hangul and Microsoft Excel which handle a data file with a header as an input. Moreover, our method can provide a means for assessing the fault tolerance and trustworthiness of the target software.

  • The letter delay task using monosyllabic words has been employed in order to investigate whether Korean word is processed by the phonological route, and to investigate which stage this phonological information affects word recognition. Two main conditions were delaying a sounding letter( $\rightarrow$향), and delaying a silent letter( $\rightarrow$양). Experiment 1 was the naming task with the SOAs of 150㎳ and 250㎳ in order to investigate whether the phonological information affects the early stages, or the later stages of word recognition. The results showed that the interaction between the phonological value condition and the presence/absence of the prime was significant under the 150㎳ SOA, but not under 250㎳ SOA. Experiment 2 was conducted in order to generalize the results of Experiment 1 in the lexical decision task. The results showed the similar pattern as the Experiment 1. These experiments indicate that Korean words are processed by the phonological route, and the phonological information plays roles in the early stages of word recognition.

  • This study investigated global and local characteristics of eye movement while 30 college students read easy and difficult Korean texts. It was found that readers who read the difficult text fixated longer for about 217ms and made shorter saccades of about 3.7 characters while readers who read the easy one fixated for about 190ms and made saccades of about 4.8 characters. Single fixation times and gaze durations in the difficult text were longer than those in the easy one(227ms vs. 195ms; 266ms vs. 210ms). In both easy and difficult texts, the effects of word frequency and eojeol length were found. In addition, the differences in fixation times according to word frequency and length were larger in the difficult text.

  • This study investigated global and local characteristics of eye movement while 16 college students read 48 easy Korean sentences. It was found that readers lusted for about 225ms at the word cluster(eojeol), made a forward saccade of about 3.6 characters to the next word, skipped short and high-frequent words about 25% during the first-pass reading, and regressed backward at 19%. There were also individual differences in readers' pattern of fixation and saccade. In addition, the effects of word cluster length and word frequency and the effects related to landing position were examined. The eyes landed on the center of a word cluster more frequently than on the boundaries. When the eyes landed at the boundaries, the eyes fixated the word cluster again more frequently. The word clusters with high-frequency words were read faster than those with low-frequency words.
