Structural Design and Construction of Mega Braced Frame System for Tall Buildings

  • Recently, two unique high rise buildings have been designed and constructed in Korea. The two buildings, which consist of mega braces and mega columns, are 70-story, 105-story high rise buildings. Through two external structural frame systems, it will be analyzed mechanical and structural characteristic mega column and mega brace system in this report. Particularly, the joint has been studied through the analytical method based on the load transfer mechanism at the point where a mega brace and mega column meets.

입체.복합 공간구조(Mega Structure) 시스템의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Mega Structure System)

  • 국제화가 가속화됨에 따라 국가 단위가 아닌 도시 단위의 경쟁력 제고의 필요성이 대두되면서 도시재생에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 도시재생의 위한 공간의 효율성 극대화와 고부가 가치를 갖는 공간의 창출을 위해서는 입체 복합 공간구조 시스템의 개발에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이론과 시공 사례를 바탕으로 하여 입체 복합 공간구조에 대한 개념을 정립하고 이를 위한 구조시스템에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 입체 복합 공간을 구성하기 위해서는 규모 및 용도에 탄력적으로 대응할 수 있는 Mega structure 시스템이 타당할 것으로 판단되었고, 이에 따라 Mega structure 모델의 구조해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 해석을 위해 기본 Mega structure 모델을 제안하였으며, 제안된 모델의 Mega column과 Mega beam의 형태 및 위치를 변화시켜가며 구조해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에 따르면 Mega structure 시스템이 실제 입체 복합 공간을 실현시킬 수 있는 충분한 성능을 발휘한다고 판단되었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to explain the impact of hosting mega event using the system dynamics and to establish the model for analysis of the impact of hosting mega event. The results are as follows. First, the growth of inbound tourists have influenced long term effect. Second, the export has increased for a limited period only after the hosting mega event, but the increase in export returned to the previous state in terms of economic impact of mega event. Third, nation brand has been improved for a limited period only such as the economical impact in terms of socio-cultural impact of mega event. Last, citizenship consciousness has been improved after hosting mega event. Further researches have to be carried out to modify and reinforce the model.

  • 1990년대에 들어서 대형 선박에 대한 논의가 활발해진 가운데 최근 15,000 TEU에 달하는 메가 선박(Mega ship)과 이를 위한 메가 항만(Mega hub)에 대한 개념이 소개되었다. 초대형 선박에 관한 연구는 선박 설계, 항만 설계, 선박 운영, 물류 관리 등 다양한 관점에서 수행되어 왔으며, 그 결과 역시 다양하여 초대형 선박의 기술적 가능성과 경제적 타당성에 대한 이해를 돕지 못하고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구는 관련 문헌을 체계적으로 고찰함으로서 기존 연구의 현황과 한계 그리고 향후 연구 방향을 제시한다.

  • Mega-FTA는 양자간 FTA와 달리 선진국을 포함한 신흥경제국이 하나의 단일시장에서 규모의 경제를 확대하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 양자간 FTA는 협상을 통해 자국의 산업뿐만 아니라 국가 간 연관 산업도 고려하여 원산지 기준과 특혜 관세율을 조정하기 때문에 경쟁력이 있는 특정산업은 역내 시장 확대와 더불어 외국인 투자나 국내재투자도 기대할 수 있다. 이와는 반대로 Mega-FTA는 다수의 참여국이 동일한 특혜세율 하에서 경제규모를 확대해야 하므로 양자간 FTA와는 달리 참여국들의 경쟁우위요소를 복합적으로 활용하여야만 협정의 효과를 극대화 할 수 있게 된다. 즉, Mega-FTA에서는 양자간 FTA의 보충기준인 누적기준의 활용 여부가 협정의 성패를 좌우하는 중요한 FTA 활용 증진 요소이다.

  • Since the mega frame structure has significant numbers of elements and nodes, it takes tremendous times and computer memories to analyze and design the structures. Therefore, the exclusive structural analysis program for mega frame system is developed to reduce the efforts and time required for the analysis and design of mega frame structure. To this end, an efficient modelling technique using the characteristics of mega frame structures and an efficient analytical model, which uses a few DOFs selected by the user using the matrix condensation method. are developed in tins study. Static and dynamic analyses are conducted using an example structure.

Circulation Dynamics to Improve Commercial Activity in a Mega Mall

  • The 'one-day-shopping' concept that we experience today in a modern mega mall changed the propensity to consume compared to the past. The idea of a mega mall originated in the U.S. and the first suburban shopping malls as we know them today were built in the 1950s. The convenience of these malls had a great impact not only on consumers but also on the retail industry in general and the new mega mall idea has since spread around the world, with the largest ones located in China and Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, Korea had the fastest-growing economy during the last three decades and with that boom the compositional structure of domestic retail facilities became extremely diverse. Today, there are 36 new mega mall development plans to be completed before 2016, which represent a rapid and dynamic change in consumerism lifestyle in Korea. In this regard, this study will re-evaluate the first mega mall in Korea, the COEX Mall, and identify initial errors regarding its circulation plan and provide an ideal design strategy for future commercial mega malls based on literature review and comparison analysis.

Mega-Float의 동적 응답해석에 관한 연구 (A study on the Dynamic Response Analysis of Mega-Float Offshore Structure)

  • Recently, mega-float offshore structure is studied as one of the effective utilization of the ocean space. And mega-float structure are now being considered for various applications such as floating airports, offshore cities and so on. This mega-float structure is relatively flexible compared with real floating structures like large ships. when we estimate dynamic responses of these structures in waves, the elastic deformation is important, because vertical dimension is small compared with horizontal. The analysis of the dynamic response as it receives regular wave is studied. The finite element method is used in the analysis of structural section of this model. And the analysis is carried out using the boundary element method in the fluid division. In order to know the characteristics of the dynamic response of the mega-float structures, effects of wavelength, water depth, and wave direction on dynamic response of the floating structure are studied by use of numerical calculation.

How E-learning Business for Teens Has Evolved in Korea: The Case of MegaStudy

  • Since MegaStudy started e-learning business for Korean high school students, the Korean e-learning industry began to expand and steadily gain attention. This paper focused on the analysis of the development of the Korean e-learning business for teens and the growth of MegaStudy. The three institutional mechanisms were used to examine the factors that aided the development of the business. The regulatory mechanism was the government policy to prevent the expansion of the offline private education sector, which greatly aided the growth of the e-learning business. The mimetic mechanism was the notion to mimic the characteristics of the Korean e-business initiatives. The normative mechanism involved the widespread social norm suggesting that every student should be given an equal opportunity of private education. This paper also examined the case of MegaStudy as a successful case of the e-learning companies. It analyzed the business model of MegaStudy, which is based on its advantage as the front-runner and its high-quality contents and services.
