  • This paper represents a fast computational algorithm for the discrete sine transform defined by Kekre and Solanki. Techniques are developed to factor the discrete sine trans form matrix into M=log2 2N matrices, where the number(N) of sampled data points is a power of two. Each factorial matrix contains not more than two non-zero real elem tints in any row or column. As a result of this method, the exact a배orithm for the fast discrete sine transform is accomplished. The algorithm is illustiated by a signal flow graph, which may be readily translated to hardware or software implementation.

  • In this paper, I propose the novel method based on Labeled Hough transform and GLCM(Grey-Level Co-occurrence Matrix) for license plate detection. A lot of conventional methods have been proposed to detect the license plate, but those are useless in order to detect the license plate well in case of dark or unstable images. Histogram equalization is preprocessed to each image before applying this method. As a result, the license plate is detected accurately

  • An inversion method is presented for the determination of the compressional wave speed, compressional wave attenuation, thickness of the sediment layer and density as a function of depth for a horizontally stratified ocean bottom. An experiment for estimating those properties was conducted in the shallow water of South Sea in Korea. In the experiment, a light bulb implosion and the propagating sound were measured using a VLA (vertical line array). As a method for estimating the geoacoustic properties, a coherent broadband matched field processing combined with Genetic Algorithm was employed. When a time-dependent signal is very short, the Fourier transform results are not accurate, since the frequency components are not locatable in time and the windowed Fourier transform is limited by the length of the window. However, it is possible to do this using the wavelet transform a transform that yields a time-frequency representation of a signal. In this study, this transform is used to identify and extract the acoustic components from multipath time series. The inversion is formulated as an optimization problem which maximizes the cost function defined as a normalized correlation between the measured and modeled signals in the wavelet transform coefficient vector. The experiments and procedures for deploying the light bulbs and the coherent broadband inversion method are described, and the estimated geoacoustic profile in the vicinity of the VLA site is presented.

  • We consider a stable tandem network which consists of two M/M/1 nodes and study the probability that the total backlog exceeds a large level N. Since the excessive backlog is a rare event, it is difficult to estimate this probability efficiently by using the crude Monte Carlo simulation. Instead we perform the ;$h$-transform proposed by McDonald(1999) to obtain the twisted network, in which the node with the larger load is overloaded. Then we use it to run the fast simulation.

  • A nonparametric procedure for testing exponentially against used better than aged in expectation (UBAE) class of life distributions is presented. We construct a test statistics based on scaled total time on test (TTT)-transformation, to test exponentiality against UBAE class of life distributions. The distribution of the statistic is investigated via simulation. Practical applications of the proposed test are presented.

  • In this paper, we introduce the concepts of multiple $L_p$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transform ($1{\leq}p$ < ${\infty})$ and a convolution product of functionals on abstract Wiener space and verify the existence of the multiple $L_p$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transform for functionls in the Fresnel class. Moreover, we verify that the Fresnel class is closed under the $L_p$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transformation and the convolution product, respectively. And we establish some relationships among the multiple $L_p$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transform and the convolution product on the Fresnel class.

  • This Paper is concerned with effective signal identification method for tool breakage and micro chipping using discrete wavelet transform of feed motor current in milling operations. The wavelet transform uses an analyzing waveletfunction which is localized in both frequency and time domain to detect subtle time localized changes in input signals. The changing pattern of wavelet coefficient is continuously compared to detect tool breakage and micro chipping over one spindle revolution. The results indicate that the wavelet transform can identify tool failure with much greater sensi- tivity than the time domain monitoring and frequency domain monitoring such as FFT. Experimental results are presented to support the proposed scheme.

  • Let C(Q) denote Yeh-Wiener space, the space of all real-valued continuous functions x(s, t) on Q ≡ [0, S] × [0, T] with x(s, 0) = x(0, t) = 0 for every (s, t) ∈ Q. For each partition τ = τm,n = {(si, tj)|i = 1, . . . , m, j = 1, . . . , n} of Q with 0 = s0 < s1 < . . . < sm = S and 0 = t0 < t1 < . . . < tn = T, define a random vector Xτ : C(Q) → ℝmn by Xτ (x) = (x(s1, t1), . . . , x(sm, tn)). In this paper we study the conditional integral transform and the conditional convolution product for a class of cylinder type functionals defined on K(Q) with a given conditioning function Xτ above, where K(Q)is the space of all complex valued continuous functions of two variables on Q which satify x(s, 0) = x(0, t) = 0 for every (s, t) ∈ Q. In particular we derive a useful equation which allows to calculate the conditional integral transform of the conditional convolution product without ever actually calculating convolution product or conditional convolution product.
