  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of increasing running speed on human stability by comparing the Lyapunov Exponent (LyE) and Coefficient of Variation (CV) methods, with the goal of identifying key variables and uncovering new insights. Method: Fourteen adult males (age: 24.7 ± 6.4 yrs, height: 176.9 ± 4.6 cm, weight: 74.7 ± 10.9 kg) participated in this study. Results: In the CV method, significant differences were observed in ankle (flexion-inversion/eversion; p < .05) and hip joint (internal-external rotation; p < .05) movements, while the center of mass (COM) variable in the coronal axis movements showed a significant difference at the p < .001 level. In the LyE method, statistical differences were observed at the p < .05 level in knee (flexion-extension), hip joint (internal-external rotation) movements, and COM across all three directions (sagittal, coronal, and transverse axis). Conclusion: Our results revealed that the stability of the human body is affected at faster running speeds. The movement of the COM and ankle joint were identified as the most critical factors influencing stability. This suggests that LyE, a nonlinear time series analysis, should be actively introduced to better understand human stabilization strategies.

  • This paper proposes a robust high-gain observer design scheme for nonlinear systems and its stability is analyzed based on Lyapunov theory. It is assumed that their states are unmeasurable. The proposed high-gain observer has the integrator of the estimation error in dynamics. It improves the performance of high-gain observers and makes the proposed observer robust to noisy measurements, uncertainties and peaking phenomenon as well. Its stability is analyzed by the Lyapunov approach. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, it is applied to output feedback controllers and some comparative simulation result with the existed observer based output feedback controllers and state feedback controllers is given.

  • In this paper, the problem of stability analysis for networked control systems with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties is investigated. By construction Lyapunov's functional, a new delay-dependent stability criterion for uncertain networked control system is established in terms of LMIs (linear matrix inequalities) which can be easily by various convex optimization algorithms. One numerical example is included to show the effectiveness of proposed criterion.

  • In this paper, the stability analysis for uncertain dynamic systems with time-varying delays is considered. By constructing a new Lyapunov functional, a novel stability criterion is established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Two numerical examples are carried out to support the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In the present paper, the problem of stability analysis for linear systems with interval time-varying delays is considered. By introducing a new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, new stability criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Two numerical examples are given to show the superiority of the proposed method.

  • This paper studies the global stability of a class of discrete-time pathogen infection models with latently infected cells. The rate of pathogens infect the susceptible cells is taken as bilinear, saturation and general. The continuous-time models are discretized by using nonstandard finite difference scheme. The basic and global properties of the models are established. The global stability analysis of the equilibria is performed using Lyapunov method. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulations.

  • In this paper, the stability of second order uncertain systems with regulation of PID type controllers is analyzed by using Lyapunov second method for the first time in the time domain. The property of the stability of PID regulation servo systems is revealed in sense of Lyapunov, i.e., bounded stability due to the disturbances and uncertainties. By means of the results of this stability analysis, the maximum norm bound of the error from the output without variation of the uncertainties and disturbances is determined as a function of the gains of the PID control, which make it enable to analyze the effect resulted from the variations of the disturbances and uncertainties using this norm bound for given PID gains. Using the relationship of the error from the output without variation of the uncertainties and disturbances and the PID gain with maximum bounds of the disturbances and uncertainties, the robust gain design rule is suggested so that the error from the output without the variation of the disturbances and uncertainties can be guaranteed by the prescribed specifications as the advantages of this study. The usefulness of the proposed algorithm is verified through an illustrative example.

  • The scope of this paper is focused to the systems which have the time period and they should be necessarily studied in the sense of stability and design method of controller to stabilize the orignal unstable systems. In general, the time periodic systems or the systems having same motions during certain time interval are easily found in rotating motion device, i.e., satellite or helicopter and widely used in factory automation systems. The characteristics of the selected dynamic systems are analyzed with the new stability concept and stabilization control method based on Lyapunov direct method. The new method from Lyapunov stability criteria which satisfies the energy convergence is studied with linear algebraic method. And the numerical procedures are developed with computational programming method to apply to the practical linear periodic systems. The results from this paper demonstrate the usefulness in analysis of the asymptotic stability and stabilization of the unstable linear periodic system by using the developed simulation procedures.

  • In this paper, robust stability analysis for the fuzzy feedback linearization regulator is presented. Well-known Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is used as the MISO nonlinear plant model. Uncertainty and disturbance are assumed to be included in the model structure with known bounds. For these structured uncertainty and disturbances, robust stability of the close system is analyzed in both input-output sense and Lyapunov sense. The robust stability conditions are proposed by using multivariable circle criterion and the relationship between input-output stability and Lyapunov stability. The proposed stability analysis is illustrated by a simple example.

  • This paper gives derivations of voltage collapse conditions by using the Lyapunov function, which yields the exactly same results with the sensitivity analysis approach. On the other hand, the voltage collapse phenomenon is interpreted in the physical sense, and causes of the static voltage unstability and the dynamic voltage unstability are analyzed with the use of proposed Lyapunov function. In addition a new method is developed to calculate the power capacity limit of transmission lines with respect to voltage stability. This paper shows that it is able to analyze the voltage collapse with the Lyapunov direct method in the simple 2-bus system and proposes that the method works well by observing the variation of Lyapunov function as the load is increased in the system.
