In this paper a $6^{th}$ 1MHz~30MHz bandpass filter for Power line communication(PLC) modem receiver is designed using current mode synthesis method which is good to design the low-voltage and low-power filter. The designed bandpass filter is composed of cascade connecting between $3^{rd}$ Butterworth highpass filter and $3^{rd}$ Chebychev lowpass filter. As a core circuit in the current-mode filter, a current-mode integrator is designed with new architecture which can improve gain and unity gain frequency of the integrator. The gain and the unity gain frequency of the designed integrator is each 32.2dB and 247MHz. And the cutoff frequency of the designed $6^{th}$ bandpass filter can be controlled to 50MHz from 200KHz according to controlling voltage and the power consumption is 2.85mW with supply voltage, 1.8V. The designed bandpass filter was verified using a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS parameter.

In this paper a low-power DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) design technique is proposed. As basic low-pass filter for analysis bank, comb filter is utilized, and in order to improve frequency response for the comb filter, a fourth order polynomial is also proposed. Another filters are designed by using perfect reconstruction conditions. The lowpass filter coefficients of the analysis filter bank are optimized based on the cost function and perfect reconstruction condition. The number of the multiplications and MSE(Mean Squared Error) performance of the proposed DWT filter bank are compared with those of the JPEG2000 (9, 7) filter bank. It is shown that number of multiplications of the proposed filter bank are saved with 33.3%, and MSE values of the proposed filter bank are also superior to those of the JPEG2000 (9, 7) filter bank.

We propose efficient speech signal processing algorithms and a system for cochlear implant in this paper. The outer and the middle car which perform amplifying, lowpass filtering and AGC, are modeled by an analog system, and the inner ear acting as a time-delayed multi filter and the transducer is implemented by the DSP circuit which enables real-time processing. Especially, the basilar membrane characteristic of the inner ear is modeled by a nonlinear filter bank, and then tonotopy and periodicity of the auditory system is satisfied by using a pitch-synchronous multi-spectra(PSMS) method. Moreover, most of the speech processing is performed by S/W so the system can be easily modified. And as our program is written in C-language, it can be easily transplanted to the system using other processors.
This study was conducted to investigate the running motion in the max-velocity phase(150-160m) and the fatigue phase(350-360m) during 400m sprint by performed elementary school athletes. Eighteen elementary school male athletes who achieved at least the 3rd place in the sprint at the Korea Gangwon-Do elementary school track and field meetings during 2004 and 2005 were selected as subjects. The running motions performed by the subjects were recorded using two 8mm high speed cameras at the nominal speed of 100 frames per second. The Direct Linear Transformation technique was adopted from the beginning of filming to the final stage of data extraction. KWON 3D motion analysis package program was used to compute the 3 Dimensional coordinates, smoothing factor in which lowpass filtering method was used and cutoff frequency was 6.0 Hz. The movement patterns during foot touchdown and takeoff for the running stride were related with the biomechanical consideration. Within the limitations of this study it is concluded: In order to increase running velocity, several conditions must be fullfilled at the instant of leg touchdown and takeoff during the fatigue phase(350-360m). First, the body C.O.G(Center of Gravity) height should be raised at the instant of leg touchdown and takeoff during the fatigue phase. Second, the foot contact time should be shortened and the takeoff distance should be increased at the foot takeoff during the fatigue phase. Third, the shank angular velocity with respect to a transverse axis through the center of gravity should be increased during the leg touchdown and takeoff in the fatigue phase. Forth, the active landing style described as clawing the ground with the sole of the foot should be performed during the leg touchdown and takeoff in the fatigue phase) phase. Fifth, In order to increase running velocity in the fatigue phase while taking a slightly greater leg knee angle and body lean angle within the range of the subject's running motion during the fatigue phase would result in greater flight distance.

Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy was performed for analysis of the H$_2$$^{18}$ O/H$_2$$^{16}$ O isotope ratio of a water sample which was enriched by the membrane distillation method. In order to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, the wavelength modulation spectroscopic method was used with a lock-in amplifier. The fringe noise could be suppressed by using the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) lowpass filter and the optimization of the modulation depth of the laser frequency. The maximum deviation of $\delta$-value was measured to be$\pm$4$\textperthousand$.

This paper proposes efficient VLSI architectures for computation of the 2- D discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The two proposed VLSI architectures for the 2- D DWT are constructed based on block-based computation Each $M{\times}N$ ($N{\times}M$) block DWT is performed along the row (column) direction simultaneously, where M and N denote the number of filter taps and the number of columns (rows), respectively The proposed architectures compute the lowpass and highpass output sequences of the 1 - DWT along the row and column directions using a single architecture In alternate clock cycles Therefore the extra processing units required for the proposed architectures are much smaller than those of the conventional architectures They are modeled In very high speed Integrated circuit hardware description language (HIDL) and Simulated to show their functional validity.

In this paper, a continuous-time filter for low voltage and high frequency applications using fully-balanced current integrators is presented. As the balanced structure of integrator circuits, the designed filter has improved noise characteristics and wide dynamic range since even-order harmonics are cancelled and the input signal range is doubled. Using complementary current mirrors, bias circuits are simplified and the cutoff frequency of filters can be controlled easily by a single DC bias current. As a design example, the 3rd-order lowpass Butterworth filter with a leapfrog realization is designed. The designed fully-balanced current-mode filter is simulated and examined by SPICE using 0.65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS n-well process parameters. The simulation results show 50MHz cutoff frequency, 69㏈ dynamic range with 1% total harmonic distortion(THD), and 4㎽ power dissipation with a 3V supply voltage.

In this paper, we proposed novel photonic bandgap(PBG) structure using EGP(Elevated Ground Plane) and via in ceramic substrate of microstrip line. From analysis result, the proposed PBG structure is reduced 52.5% at size and increased 45 % at bandwidth compared to typical planar PBG structure. It is also reduced 32 % at size and improved more than 8 dB at power loss compared to typical multilayer DGS(Defected Ground Structure). The proposed PBG structure also can be used bandstop and lowpass filter and it will be useful for small microwave integrated circuit and module development.

In this paper, the design of a new bandstop filter with an ultra-wide stopband is proposed using the metamaterial CRLH-TL. Instead of conventional periodic structures and multi-staged CRLH-TLs, extremely small one-cell type is adopted to circumvent the setbacks of conventional filters such as the lengthened ${\lambda}_g/2$-resonator ones or alternating impedance lowpass filter, and relatively slow skirt. Besides, for a very broad stopband, a strong coupling structure including stepped impedances is suggested and the zero-order resonance is made for effective size-reduction. The validity of the proposed design is proven through the fabrication and measurement, showing the overall size less than ${\lambda}_g/10$, the stopband wider than 12 GHz, 0.7 dB of the insertion loss.

In the calculation of wave propagation by Boussinesq equation model, it is very common to experience numerical noises generated from nonlinear interaction and breaking wave occurrence, and the numerical solution is rapidly diverged unless the noises are properly controlled. A comparative study was here undertaken for the characteristics of three different lowpass filters (FFT filter, Gaussian filter and Shapiro filter) which are all designed to be applied to the interim results of numerical calculation. The numerical results obtained with application of respective filter techniques were compared with the results of an existing hydraulic experiment for the aspects of noise suppression, conservation of main signal and altering time. The results show that the Shapiro filter can be best applied with optimal choices of its element number, pass number and filtering tune interval. The combination of the number of filter element off, pass number of 50 or less, and application interval of 100 to 200 time steps generally showed good performance in both accuracy and efficiency of the numerical calculation.
