  • The combustion purpose of diesel engine is to reduce the emission of green gas and to produce high output. Generally, the regulation matter of emission gas is largely diveded by 'THC', 'NOx', 'CO' and 'PM'. Among those matters, the most problem is to disgorge into 'PM', the character of diesel combustion. Diesel PM can be controlled using Diesel Particulate Filter, which can effectively reduce the level of soot emissions to ambient background levels. $NO_2$ generated by the DOC is used to combust the carbon collected in the DPF at low temperature. To certificate DPF device that is suitable to domestic circumstances, it is necessary to exactly evaluate the DPF devices according to the regulation of DPF certificate test procedure fur retrofit. To do carry out the above-mentioned description the understanding of that regulation like the standard of PM reduction is needed. In this study the test procedure including test cycle and BPT test condition was examined, and also the test result for specific DPF was analyzed. In every test like field test, PM reduction efficiency test and Seoul-10 mode test, no defect was showed.

  • In this study, the TSC spectroscopy has been applied to investigate the influence of structural change due to a process of curing reaction on the electrical properties of epoxy composites cured with acid-anhydride. Five TSC peaks appeared in -160-250[.deg.C]: in the low temperature region below glass transition temperature(T$\_$g/), three relaxation mode peaks due to action of side chains, substitution group or terminal groups have been observed, a peak associated with T$\_$g/, appeared in 110[.deg. C] and p peak due to ionic space charges located in 150[.deg.C]. Each peak was separated into elementary peaks by the partial polarization procedure, and the distribution of activation energy and relaxation time were analized to clearify the origin of each peak. Also, overaboundantly added hardener separated a .betha. peak near 10[.deg. C] into two peaks of .betha.$\_$1/(10.deg. C) and .betha.$\_$2/(20.deg. C) according to increasement of forming field, and the separated hardener was oxidated thermally with increasing surrounding temperatures. The expansion of the free volume need in molecular motion and the reduction of the structural packing density through thermal oxidation process increased TSC between .alpha. peak and .betha. peak and decreased T$\_$g/.

  • In this study, we fabricated effect of storage conditions on graft of polypropylene (PP) non-woven fabric induced by electron beam. The electron beam irradiations on PP non-woven fabric were carried out over a range of irradiation doses from 25 to 100 kGy to make free radicals on fabric surface. The radical measurement was established by electron spin resonance (ESR) for confirming the changes of the alkyl radical and peroxy radical according to effect of storage time, storage temperature and atmosphere. It was observed that the free radicals were increased with irradiation dose and decreased with storage time due to the continuous oxidation. However, the radical extinction was significantly delayed due to reduced mobility of radicals at extremely low temperature. The degree of graft based on the analysis of ESR was investigated. The conditions of graft reaction were set at a temperature: $60^{\circ}C$, reaction time: 6 hours and styrene monomer concentration: 20 wt%.

  • An effect of low-temperature long-term thermal degradation on a degree of crystallinity of a low density polyethylene (LDPE) was investigated by using $^1H$ solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR). Firstly, the long-term thermal treatment makes a color of LDPE from white to pale yellow which is indicative of thermal oxidation. Secondly, it makes the $^{1}H$ NMR spin-spin and spin-lattice relaxation times ($T_1$) to be long. Lastly, the degree of crystallinity of the semicrystalline aged-LDPE also decreases with thermal treatment. Above all, the $T_1$ increase is envisaged to be due to either a decrease of the amorphous regions governing overall spin-lattice relaxation mechanism in LDPEs or a dynamically restricted motion of specific molecular motions by intermolecular hydrogen bonding or crosslinking. However, since the decrease of crystallinity implies an increase of amorphous regions by the thermal treatment, the former case is contrast to our results. Accordingly, we concluded that the latter effect is responsible for the $T_1$ increase.

  • The Ni-base super-heat-resistant alloy, GTD-111, is employed in gas turbines because of its high temperature strength and oxidation resistance. It is important to predict the fatigue life of this superalloy in order to improve the efficiency of gas turbines. In this study, low-cycle fatigue tests are performed as variables of total strain range and temperature. The relationship between the strain energy density and number of cycles to failure is examined in order to predict the low-cycle fatigue life of the GTD-111 superalloy. The fatigue life predicted by using the strain-energy methods is found to coincide with that obtained from the experimental data and from the Coffin-Manson method.

  • Capacitor material utilized in the downsizing passive devices and integration of passive devices requires the physical and electrical properties at given area such as capacitor thickness reduction, relative dielectric constant increase, low leakage current and thermal stability. common capacitor materials, $Al_2O_3$, $SiO_2$, $Si_3N_4$, $SiO_2$/$Si_3N_4$, TaN and et al., used until recently have reached their physical limits in their application to integration of passive devices. $Ta_2O_{5}$ is known to be a good alternative to the existing materials for the capacitor application because of its high dielectric constant (25~35), low leakage current and high breakdown strength. Despite the numerous investigations of $Ta_2O_{5}$ material, there have little been established the clear understanding of the annealing effect on capacitance characteristic and conduction mechanism. This study presents the dielectric properties $Ta_2O_{5}$ MIM capacitor structure Processed by $O_2$ RTA oxidation. X-ray diffraction patterns showed the existence of amorphous phase in $600^{\circ}C$ annealing under the $O_2$ RTA and the formation of preferentially oriented-$Ta_2O_{5}$ in 650, $700^{\circ}C$ annealing and the AES depth profile showed $O_2$ RTA oxidation effect gives rise to the $O_2$ deficientd into the new layer. The leakage current density respectively, at 3~1l$\times$$10_{-2}$(kV/cm) were $10_{-3}$~$10_{-6}$(A/$\textrm{cm}^2$). In addition, behavior is stable irrespective of applied electric field. the frequency vs capacitance characteristic enhanced stability more then $Ta_2O_{5}$ thin films obtained by $O_2$ reactive sputtering. The capacitance vs voltage measurement that, Vfb(flat-band voltage) was increase dependance on the $O_2$ RTA oxidation temperature.

  • To investigate the plating properties of a diethylene glycol-based Ag immersion plating solution containing citric acid, silver immersion plating was performed in a range from room temperature to $50^{\circ}C$ using sputtered Cu specimens. The used Cu specimens possessed surface structure with large numbers of pinholes which were created with over-acid etching. The Ag immersion plating performed at $40^{\circ}C$ exhibited that the pinholes and copper surface were completely filled with Ag just after 5 min mainly due to galvanic displacement reaction, indicating the best plating properties. Subsequently, the surface morphology of Ag-coated Cu became rougher as the plating time increased to 30 min because of the deposition of silver nanoparticles created by chemical reduction in the solution. The specimen that its overall surface was covered with silver indicated the start of oxidation at temperature higher than around $50^{\circ}C$ in air as compared with pure Cu, indicating enhanced anti-oxidation properties.

  • In this study, the effects of the structural properties of the catalyst on CO oxidation reaction by controlling the $Cu/CeO_2$ catalyst amount and calcination temperature were studied, and also the CO conversion rate of the catalyst at the temperature range of $100{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ was evaluated. XRD, Raman, BET, $H_2-TPR$, and XPS analyses were performed to confirm the effect of changes in the structural properties on the chemical properties of the catalyst. The result confirmed that a substitution bond between Cu and Ce was formed and a lot of Cu and Ce bonds were formed when the catalyst carrying 5 wt.%. Of Cu was calcined at $400^{\circ}C$. The Cu-Ce binding was confirmed by peak shifts in Raman analysis and also peaks appeared in $H_2-TPR$. In addition, the balance state analysis demonstrated that a lot of surface labile oxygen molecules are formed, which can be more easily contributed to the reaction with $Ce^{3+}$ species known to form a substitution bond easily. It was found that CO conversion rate of the catalyst used in this study was close to 100% at $150^{\circ}C$.

  • Nickel oxide was deposited on mesoporous silica by atomic layer deposition (ALD) consisting of sequential exposures to Ni(cp)2 and $H_2O$. NiO/silica samples were characterized by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), etc. The flow-type reactor was used to measure activity of NiO/silica catalyst for catalytic combustion of toluene. The activity of NiO/silica catalyst was evaluated in terms of toluene removal efficiency and selectivity to $CO_2$ and compared with those of bare nickel oxide nanoparticles. In order to investigate influence of reaction temperature on combustion aspect, the catalytic combustion experiments were carried out at various temperatures. We show that both bare and supported NiO can be efficient catalysts for total oxidation of toluene at a temperature as low as $250^{\circ}C$.
