Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the tensile strength and mechanical properties of orthodontic wire joints made by gas soldering and laser welding, with and without filling material, to identify the effectiveness and potential clinical application of laser welded orthodontic wires. Methods: Three joint configurations of orthodontic wire were used: diameter 0.9 to 0.9 mm wire, diameter 0.9 to 0.5 wire and diameter 0.9 mm wire to band. The joints were made using three different methods: gas soldering, laser welding with and without filling material. For each kind of joint configuration or connecting method 7 specimens were carefully produced. The tensile strengths were measured with a universal testing machine (Zwick/Roell, Instron, USA). The hardness measurements were carried out with a hardness tester(Future-Tech Co. Tokyo, Japan). Data were analyzed by AVOVA(p= .05) and Turkey HD test(p= .05). Results: In all cases, gas soldering joints were ruptured on a low level on tensile bonding strength. Significant differences between laser welding and gas soldering(p< .05) were found in each joint configuration. The highest tensile strength means were observed for laser welding, with filling material, of 0.9 to 0.9 mm wire joint. Conclusion: In conclusion, the elastic modulus and tensile strength means of laser soldering with filling material were the highest, and the tensile strength means of laser soldering were higher than those of gas soldering.
Low-level outlets are necessary to empty reservoir storage in case of emergency such as abrupt storage level rise due to storm, dam body inspection as well as initial reservoir storage filling. However, the Korean standard for low-level outlet should be complemented. In this study, the HEC-ResSim model is utilized to simulate and calculate the capacity of the outlets and the days of release in order to evacuate reservoir storage safely. Three cases are analyzed according to its capacity. As a large dam with more than $1,000{\times}106m^3$ total capacity, Soyanggang Dam is selected and as a medium dam between $100{\times}106m^3$ and $1,000{\times}106m^3$ total capacity, Habcheon Dam is selected. Finally as a small dam with a total capacity less than $100{\times}106m^3$, Daegok Dam is selected. The size of low-level outlet and days of storage evacuation is estimated and the applicability of the analysis method is studied.
Temperature and injection current dependence of elctroluminescence(EL) spectral intensity of the $In_{0.27}Ga_{0.73}N/GaN$ multi-quantum-well(MQW) have been studied over a wide temperature and as a function of injection current level. EL peaks also show significant broadening into higher photon energy region with the increase of injection current. This is explained by the band-filling effect. When temperature is slightly increased to 300 from 15 K, the EL emission peak showed red-blue-red shift. It can be explained by the carrier localization by potential fluctuation of multiple quantum well and band-gap shrinkage as temperature increase. It is found that a temperature-dependent variation pattern of the EL efficiency under very low and high injection currents show a drastic difference. This unique EL efficiency variation pattern with temperature and current is explained field effects due to the driving forward bias in presence of internal(piezo and spontaneous polarization) fields.
Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), an octane booster that is added to the reformulated gasoline, has been a widespread contaminant in aquatic ecosystem. MTBE is a recalcitrant pollutant having low biodegradability. Due to its higher water solubility and low octanol-water partition coefficient, it can be rapidly transported to the surrounding water environment. Also, MTBE is a known animal carcinogen, and is classified as a possible human carcinogen by U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. The adverse effect of MTBE to aquatic biota was widely reported. In Korea, the recent detection of MTBE in groundwater near gasoline filling stations has drawn concern to public health and ecosystem. To address this concern, the effect of MTBE to human health and ecosystem was discussed in this review. Also, ecotoxicity data of MTBE for fish, invertebrates, and algae were extensively compared to estimate the hazard concentration 5($HC_5$) of MTBE as a screening level.
Bond strength depends on characteristics of bonding surface and restorative technique. The majority of studies dealing with dentin bond strength were carried out on flat bonding surface, therefore, difference of bond strength between axial wall and pulpal wall is not clear yet. This study evaluated bonding difference between cavity walls in class I composite resin restoration with different filling techniques. Twenty extracted caries-free human third molars were used. Cavities were prepared in 6 ${\times}$4 ${\times}$3 mm box-type and divided into four groups according to filling technique and bonding surface: Group I; bulk filling - pulpal wall, Group II; bulk filling - axial wall, Group III; incremental filling - pulpal wall, Group IV; incremental filling - axial wall. Cavities were filled with Filtek $Z250^{(R)}$(3M/ESPE., USA) and Clearfill SE $bond^{(R)}$(Kuraray, Japan). After 24 hour-storage in $37^{\circ}C$water, the resin bonded teeth were sectioned bucco-lingualy at the center of cavity. Specimens were vertically sectioned into 1.0 ${\times}$1.0 mm thick serial sticks perpendicular to the bond surface using a low-speed diamond saw (Accutom 50, Struers, Copenhagen, Denmark) under water cooling. The trimmed specimens were then attached to the testing device and in turn, was placed in a universal testing machine (EZ test, Shimadzu Co., Kyoto, Japan) for micro-tensile testing at a cross-head speed of 1 mm/min. The results obtained were statistically analyzed using 2-way ANOVA and t-test at a significance level of 95%. The results were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference between bulk filling and incremental filling. 2. There was no significant difference between pulpal wall and axial wall, either. Within the limit of this study, it was concluded that microtensile bond strength was not affected by the filling technique and the site of cavity walls.

The feasibility of InSbTe (IST) chalcogenide materials prepared by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) for phase-change memory (PRAM) applications was demonstrated. Films grown below $225^{\circ}C$ exhibited an amorphous structure, and the films grown at $300^{\circ}C$ Cincluded various crystalline phases such as In-Sb-Te, In-Sb, In-Te, and Sb-Te. The composition of the amorphous films grown at $225^{\circ}C$ was dependent on the working pressure. Films grown at $225^{\circ}C$ exhibited a smooth morphology with a root mean square(rms) roughness of less than 1nm, and the step-coverage of the films grown on a trench structure with an aspect ratio of 5:1 was greater than 90%. An increase in deposition time increased the filling rate, while retaining the conformal step-coverage. Films grown at $225^{\circ}C$ for 3h in a working pressure of $13{\times}10^2$ Pa exhibited a reproducible and complete filling in a trench structure.
Objectives : A precedent research has documented that indoor air pollution is closely associated with increased the risk of symptom and decreased in job satisfaction. This study was conducted in an effort to assess the relationship of indoor air quality to self-perceived symptom and satisfied with working environment. Methods : This research is based on self-filling survey which 393 dental hygienists who work in seoul and Jeon-nam area participated on October 2010 through January 2011. This survey was compared and analyzed about the level of satisfaction and subjective symptom by the indoor air quality that dental office's working environment. Results : The result of satisfaction degree of hospital working environment was pretty low about office air. Most people mentioned that they were sore and dull all over the back, shoulder, and neck. Also, they were drowsy and exhausted in work place. Conclusions : In conclusion, it is need to improve their quality of life and mental health by developing proper air conditioning system and using one in their work place.

In this study, we describe a low-temperature wafer-level thermocompression bonding using electroplated gold seal line and bonding pads by electroplating method for RF-MEMS devices. Silicon wafers, electroplated with gold (Au), were completely bonded at $320^{\circ}C$ for 30 min at a pressure of 2.5 MPa. The through-hole interconnection between the packaged devices and external terminal did not need metal filling process and was made by gold films deposited on the sidewall of the throughhole. This process was low-cost and short in duration. Helium leak rate, which is measured to evaluate the reliability of bonded wafers, was $2.7{\pm}0.614{\times}10^{-10}Pam^{3}/s$. The insertion loss of the CPW packaged was $-0.069{\sim}-0.085\;dB$. The difference of the insertion loss between the unpackaged and packaged CPW was less than -0.03. These values show very good RF characteristics of the packaging. Therefore, gold thermocompression bonding can be applied to high quality hermetic wafer level packaging of RF-MEMS devices.

20 million tons of coal ash has been produced in Korea annually. This causes the environmental problems and the cost of land for ash pond. However the amount of coal ash for recycling is small because of the low level of recycling technology and the ignorance. As the coal ash has the significant engineering properties, it can be utilized as soft ground stabilizer, backfill materials and so forth. The purpose of this paper is to summarize some of the recycling methods of coal ash. One is structural backfill materials, the other is flowable fill. Optimal mixture ratio(fly ash : bottom ash) is determined for structural backfill materials and the model test is performed. The model test accompanied with physical tests were executed for identifying that the flowable fly ash can be used as fill materials such as trench back filling.
We used SAS program in statistics class as a plan to increase effect of class. Because lease cost of SAS program is high and low-level students felt difficulty of the syntax of SAS program, I planned to introduce other instruction-software. We observe whether it's O.K. to use Excel instead of SAS program and Excel is helpful in having positive attitudes. We try to compare and analyze the merits of two programs. The purpose of this study is to apply Excel to statistics class, cut down the cost of instruction-software, and make students understand statistics more conveniently and easily.
