  • Overweight and abdominal obesity caused by sedentary lifestyle may induce deconditioned and atrophied extensor musculature of the lumbar spine and be a potential risk factor for low back pain (LBP). Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the validity of high intensity circuit training (HICT) on weight loss and subsequent alleviation of spine curvature (SC) and visual analog scale (VAS) among middle aged men with abdominal obesity. The training program (1 exercise session for 30 minutes, three times a week for 12 weeks) consisted of 12 different functional exercises based on core strengthening multiple joint circuit training. Portions of the obesity index related to body composition were positively changed, which improved the angles of thoracic kyposis and lumbar lordosis, which appeared to effectively reduce lower back pain. Taken together, HICT specifically designed for LBP effectively decreased obesity related body composition and was superior to other treatments for decreasing aggravation of the spine curvature and LBP caused by abdominal obesity; however, weight loss should be the primary treatment target for LBP patients.

  • Grain-oriented electrical steel sheets are mainly used as core materials for transformers and motors. They should have excellent magnetic properties such as low core loss, high magnetic flux density and high permeability. In order to improve the magnetic properties of the electrical steel sheet, it is important to form Goss oriented grains with a very strong {110}<001> orientation. Recently, efforts have been made to develop Goss grains by controlling processes such as hot rolling, cold rolling, and primary and secondary recrystallization. In this study, the sheets containing 3.2 and 3.4wt.% Si were used, which were rolled with 1 and 10 passes with total thickness reduction of 89%. Heating was carried out for primary recrystallization with different heating rates of $25^{\circ}C/s$ and $24^{\circ}C/min$ until $720^{\circ}C$. The behavior of Goss-, {411}<148>-, and {111}<112>-oriented grains were analyzed using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and electron back-scatter diffraction(EBSD) analysis. The area fraction of Goss-oriented grains increased with the number of rolling passes during cold rolling; however, after the primary recrystallization, the area fraction of the Goss grains was higher and exact Goss grains were found in the specimens subjected to rapid heating after one rolling pass.

  • Currently, porous materials (e.g., mineral wool) are the core materials used in offshore plant panels, but in spite of their superb acoustic performance, these items must be replaced for environmental reasons. A honeycomb structure is widely used throughout the industry because of its high strength-to-weight ratio. However, research in terms of noise and vibration is minimal. An acoustic study should be conducted by taking advantage of honeycomb structures to replace porous materials. In this study, a simulation was performed assuming that a honeycomb panel is a superposition of symmetric mode and antisymmetric mode. Reliability was verified by comparing a simulation results based on a theory with a experimental results, and the possibility of the panel as a core material was evaluated by studying the sound insulation characteristics of a honeycomb. As the panel thickness increased, the coincidence frequency shifted to low frequency. As the angle between horizontal line and oblique wall and cell-size decreases, the sound insulation performance is improved. And as the cell-wall thickness increased, the sound insulation performance improved.

  • The high-strength rockfall net developed in this study is to replace the fallout prevention net method using PVC coating net made of core wire thickness 3.2 mm and tensile strength 290-540 MPa class steel wire. General PVC coating net have low performance, and in the event of falling rocks or surface loss, they cannot withstand the load and are torn, which rather adds to the damage. Developed rockfall net was manufactured using steel wires with a core wire thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 mm and a tensile strength of 1,000 to 2,000 MPa. Test method was referred to the international standard Steel wire rope net panels and rolls-Definitions and specifications (ISO 17746:2016), and was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the punching test. Through indoor punching tests, the load-displacement curves of the general PVC coating network and the developed high-strength capture net (1,000 and 2,000 MPa) were compared, and the maximum Pull-out load was analyzed to be improved by 324.47% (2,000 MPa high-strength net).

  • For the purpose of Application to the small radar sensor, the MMIC Chip, which is the core component of the W-band, was designed in Korea according to the characteristics of the transceiver and manufactured by 0.1㎛ GaAs pHEMT process, and compared with the MMIC chip purchased overseas. The noise figure of low noise amplifier, insertion loss of the switch and image rejection performance of the down-converted mixer MMIC chip showed better characteristics than those of commercial chips. The MMIC chip developed in domestic was applied to the transmitter and receiver through W-band waveguide low loss transition structure design and impedance matching to verify the performance after the fabrication is 9.17 dB, which is close to the analysis result. As a result, it is judged that the transceiver can be applied to the small radar sensor better than the MMIC chip purchased overseas.

  • The magnetic properties of an $Fe_{87}Zr_{7}B_{5}Ag_{1}$(at.%) amorphous alloy have been investigated as a function of annealing temperatures to clarify its application potential as a core material for high-frequency use by adding a small amount of insoluble element of Ag. A new excellent soft magnetic material was developed. The amorphous alloy produced by relatively low temperature annealing at $T_{a}=400^{\circ}C$ exhibited very high initial permeability$(\mu_{i})$ of 288,000 at 1kHz and 2mOe, very low coercivity$(H_{c})$ of 15mOe and low core loss$(W_{c})$ of 50W/kg at 100kHz and 1,000G which is comparable with Co-based amorphous alloys, respectively. It is notable that the values obtained in the present study are the best magnetic properties among various kinds of Fe-based soft amorphous materials reported up to date. The reasons for the achievement of good soft magnetic properties are presumably due to the homogeneous formation of very fine $\alpha$-Fe clusters with the size of 2~3nm in an amorphous matrix, which can be deduced from the increase of resistivity and the TEM observation. The very fine $\alpha$-Fe clusters embedded in an amorphous matrix had a great influence on reduction of magnetostriction and refinement of magnetic domain.

  • Due to remarkable market growth of smart devices, higher performance and more functionalities are required for a core system-on-chip (SoC), and thus the power demand is rapidly increasing. However, aggressive shrink of CMOS transistor have brought severe process variations thereby adversely affected the performance and power consumption under strict power constraint. Voltage binning (VB) scheme is one of the effective post silicon tuning techniques, which can reduce parametric yield loss due to process variations by adjusting supply voltage. In this paper, an optimal supply voltage tuning based voltage binning technique is proposed to reduce average power without an additional yield loss. Considering the different LVCC margins of process corners along with speed and leakage characteristics, the proposed method can optimize the deviation of voltage margin and thus save power consumption. When applying on a 30nm mobile SoC product, the experimental results showed that the proposed technique reduced average power consumption up to 6.8% compared to traditional voltage binning under the same conditions.

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of an artificial intelligence (AI) program in identifying dental conditions using panoramic radiographs(PRs), as well as to assess the appropriateness of its treatment recommendations. Materials and Methods: PRs from 100 patients(representing 4497 teeth) with known clinical examination findings were randomly selected from a university database. Three dentomaxillofacial radiologists and the Diagnocat AI software evaluated these PRs. The evaluations were focused on various dental conditions and treatments, including canal filling, caries, cast post and core, dental calculus, fillings, furcation lesions, implants, lack of interproximal tooth contact, open margins, overhangs, periapical lesions, periodontal bone loss, short fillings, voids in root fillings, overfillings, pontics, root fragments, impacted teeth, artificial crowns, missing teeth, and healthy teeth. Results: The AI demonstrated almost perfect agreement (exceeding 0.81) in most of the assessments when compared to the ground truth. The sensitivity was very high (above 0.8) for the evaluation of healthy teeth, artificial crowns, dental calculus, missing teeth, fillings, lack of interproximal contact, periodontal bone loss, and implants. However, the sensitivity was low for the assessment of caries, periapical lesions, pontic voids in the root canal, and overhangs. Conclusion: Despite the limitations of this study, the synthesized data suggest that AI-based decision support systems can serve as a valuable tool in detecting dental conditions, when used with PR for clinical dental applications.
