A Study on the Factors Affecting E-logistics Systems in the Chinese Logistics Industry

  • With the rapid growth of e-logistics in the global logistics industry, it is important to gain further insight into this growing segment of Chinese logistics industry. The current situation in China consists of many small and medium-sized logistics firms. Furthermore, e-logistics is still relatively undeveloped in the majority of the Chinese logistics companies and presently there are still many problems unresolved. This paper attempted to review the concepts and theoretical background of e-logistics systems from previous studies. After acknowledging the essential issues related to e-logistics systems, a research model based on the theory acceptance model was designed and tested. The key factors to the e-logistics system (reliability, maintainability, software, facility and transportation) were validated through the modeling and testing process. Included in the modelling and testing process are other related factors of e-logistics process, logistics information system and added value as dependent variables in this model. The results of this study confirm that the e-logistics Process is affected by transportation, while maintainability and software factors influence logistics information system. reliability, maintainability, facility and transportation are significant factors associated with added value. This research aimed to provide theoretical and practical contribution to Chinese logistics companies and to give some insights into e-logistics system as a whole. The paper also provided some useful theoretical implication and practical guidelines for the development of e-logistics system in the chinese logistics industry.

  • The application of 4PL could allow for the efficiency of many logistics operations to be greatly increased, for costs to be reduced, and for operations to become more responsive to consumer demand. It is also possible that higher services level and lower cost products could become available as a consequence. However, in order to implementing 4PL actually it is very important to be met to fundamental determinants of 4PL such as formation of logistics experts group, providing of total logistics service, capacity of IT, implementation of e-Business model, capacity of logistics consulting, higher logistics service level, logistics cost reduction, re-engineering of logistics process, focus of core competence etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a strategic approach to improve firms competitive advantages by selecting main business body and business sector at the same time. In this study the strategy of an efficient business model for joint logistics is suggested by means of searching for a joint program. The methods applied to this study were literature survey, questionnaire and internet information as well as case studies on advanced domestics and foreign logistics enterprises. The research scope of this study has focused on the joint logistics of SMEs being in the DVD(Digital Video Disk) industry sector. The results of this study are shown as follows ; first, in short terms, main business operating body has, second, in long terms, logistics operating enterprise has a direct effect on the joint logistics operation strategy of the DVD(Digital Video Disk) industry in Korea. The conclusion of this study shows that this method as a model of consequence to increase the joint logistics implementation successfully.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to find that Factors in the practical application of LISMB(Logistics Information System Practice Based) on S.P(Smartphone)' Characters. and take in the whole situation of LISMB on S.P' Characters by this research and it is clear from the findings that LISMB on S.P' Characters situations and distinctiveness. Research design, data, methodology : Research model and hypotheses have been developed based on literature review and working-level interview The collected data were analysed with structural equation modeling, examining the hypothesized relationships and mediating effect. Result : The results of research are as follows, First, LISMB on S.P' Characters has a positive effect on a precariousness of operation management. but That has no effect on a precariousness of general management. Second, Consign management and User non-cooperation has a mediating effect on relationships between LISMB on S.P' Characters and general management. Third, Old version system, User non-cooperation and Unskilled in equipment new system has a partly mediating effect on relationships between LISMB on S.P' Characters and operation management. Conclusion : Smart-phon Prevalence rates keeps increasing. Nevertheless, LISMB on S.P' Characters may no be used in Container transportation market. This problem are being blamed for hampering corporate activities and harbor logistics industry development. so we need new way to solve that problem.

Logistics Capability, Logistics Outsourcing and Firm Performance in Manufacturing Companies in Pakistan

  • This study investigates the role of logistics capability and logistics outsourcing on the performance of manufacturing companies in Pakistan. It examines how logistics capability affects firm's performance, why outsourcing is essential and how firms benefited if they outsource the service rather than establishing their own logistics capability. This research is based on a survey using structured a questionnaire to collect the primary data. The target population is logistics specialists of manufacturing companies in Pakistan with head offices based on Karachi, that have their own logistics or outsource their logistics. The questionnaire has been distributed to 500 respondents in 113 manufacturing companies in Pakistan. Confirmatory factor analysis has been used as statistical techniques to check the factor loading of the components, and SEM (Structural Equation Model) is used to check the impact of logistics capability on firm's performance as well as the role of logistics outsourcing as a mediator. The findings of the research suggest logistics capability has positive impact on the performance of the manufacturing companies in Pakistan, and logistics capability has also an impact on logistics outsourcing. On the other hand, the study found that logistics outsourcing has no significant impact on the manufacturing companies in Pakistan.

  • 석유화학산업은 대규모 설비 투자비용이 소요되는 자본 및 기술집약적 장치산업으로 공급사슬 내 구성원 간의 협력과 통합을 통한 경쟁력 강화를 추구하고 있어 입지선정시 공급업체와 생산업체, 고객의 지리적 위치와 연결성을 고려한 물류요인이 중요해지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다중적 의사결정 기준을 반영하여 입지 선정요인의 상대적 중요성을 평가하고 그 중에서 물류요인의 중요성의 분석 및 국내 주요플랜트 입지 후보지를 평가하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 석유화학플랜트 입지선정 요인의 우선순위를 연구함에 있어 물류적 요인이 다른 산업경제학적인 요인과 비교하여 어떠한 중요성을 가지는지 분석한 연구로서 의의가 있다. 또한 도출된 상대적 중요성을 바탕으로 현재 석유화학단지의 입지를 평가했다는데 의의가 있다. 이는 석유화학기업들이 향후 플랜트 입지를 신규로 선정할 경우 물류적인 요인을 중요하게 고려해야 할 것이며, 정부나 지방자치 단체가 석유화학단지를 조성하거나 유치할 경우 물류비, 물류연계성과 같은 물류적인 기반이 확보되어야 한다는 시사점을 제공할 수 있다.

Searching for Best Practices in Developing Ports as Logistics Centers

  • Global firms are seeking to implement their global logistics strategies in two ways: the use of centralized inventories and/or postponement of final assembly. These strategies stress the importance of regional logistics centers. In most cases, regional logistics centers are located in or near ports so that changing demands can be met with economy, reliability and flexibility, The port can profit not only from the activities of logistics center itself, but also the increasing flow of cargo through the logistics center. A number of ports respond to this trend by shifting their emphasis from traditional cargo-handling services to value-added services. This paper presents guidelines drawn from the best practices of ports to be successful logistics centers to provide many aspects of value-added logistics services. These include: Effective Planning and Development of Logistics Centers; Institutional Incentive Scheme; Development of Free Trade Zones; Financing Infrastructure related to Logistics Centers; Developing Logistics Service Providers and Logistics Professionals; Development of Information Technology; and Regulatory and Administrative Issues. These guidelines will help managers of ports and policy makers of governments in the East Asian region learn to recognize, analyze and adopt the best practices for use.

  • This paper presents an efficient reengineering technique for the logistics process innovation which is the foundation of supply-chain management. Based on consulting experience on the domestic manufacturing firms, this paper provides promotion step for logistics innovation and six reengineering points including check system for customer's credit limit, check system of real-time inventory information, automatic system for sequential production plan, automatic order-release system, automatic packing system, and happy-call system for order-forward information. For each reengineering point, application cases in domestic industry are also presented.

  • The third party logistics(3PL) is given a definition as logistics activaties providing a comprehensive logistics services, all or partly outsourced by the customer on longer term contract basis, ranging from making logistics strategies to implementing information technology services. The growth of the Third Party Logistics (TPL) business has caused many firms from different industries to enter the field. In this study, it is presented to describe a defintion and development precess of the third party logistics and shown to present strategic issues comparing to third party in foreign and domestic area. and apply some issues of importance when managing the continued TPL business strategy in domestic area.
