  • In this letter, a new approach is proposed for the design of a multi antenna for MIMO wireless devices. The proposed antenna covers various LTE(Long Term Evolution) service bands: band 17(704~746 MHz), band 13(746~787 MHz), band 5(824~894 MHz), and band 8(880~960 MHz). The proposed main antenna consists of a conventional monopole antenna with an inverted L-shaped slit for wideband operation. The proposed the LTE sub antenna is based on a switch loaded loop antenna structure, with a resonance frequency that can be controlled by capacitance of a logic circuit. The tuning technique for the LTE Rx antenna uses a RF MEMS(Micro-Electro mechanical system) to match the impedances to realize the bands of interest. Because the two proposed antennas are polarized orthogonally to each other, the ECC(Envelope Correlation Coefficient) characteristic between two antennas was measured to be very low (below 0.06) with an isolation characteristic below -20 dB between the two antennas in the operating overall LTE bands. The proposed antenna is particularly attractive for mobile devices that integrate LTE multiple systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a design technique which replaces logic transistors of 1.2V with medium-voltage transistors of 3.3V having small off-leakage current in repetitive block circuits where speed is not an issue, to implement a low-power eFuse OTP memory IP in the stand-by state. In addition, we use dual-port eFuse cells reducing operational current dissipation by reducing capacitances parasitic to RWL (Read word-line) and BL (Bit-line) in the read mode. Furthermore, we propose an equivalent circuit for simulating program power injected to an eFuse from a program voltage. The layout size of the designed 512-bit eFuse OTP memory IP with a 90nm CMOS image sensor process is $342{\mu}m{\times}236{\mu}m$. It is confirmed by measurement experiments on 42 samples with a program voltage of 5V that we get a good result having 97.6 percent of program yield. Also, the minimal operational supply voltage is measured well to be 0.9V.

  • This paper presents the architecture and design of a DSSS MODEM ASIC chip for wireless local area networks (WLAN). The implemented MODEM chip supports the DSSS physical layer specifications of the IEEE 802.11. The chip consits of a transmitter and a receiver which contain a CRC encoder/decoder, a differential encoder/decoder, a frequency offset compensator and a timing recovery circuit. The chip supports various data rates, i.e., 4,2 and 1Mbps and provides both DBPSK and DQPSK for data modulation. We have performed logic synthesis using the $SAMSUNG^{TM}$ $0.6{\mu}m$ gate array library and the implemented chip consists of 53,355 gates. The MODEM chip operates at 44MHz, the package type is 100-pin QFP and the power consumption is 1.2watt at 44MHz. The implemented MODEM architecture shows lower BER compared with the Harris HSP3824.

  • This paper presents a memristor-CMOS based RBSD adder. Conventional RBSD adders suffer bigger hardware due to the extra logic handling larger number of bits. The purpose of this paper is to improve the silicon surface area and the computation delay of conventional RBSD adders. The proposed method employs memristor-CMOS based circuit. The implementation results shows that the proposed memristor-CMOS based RBSD adder saves the cell area by 45%, and reduces time delay 24% compared to conventional RBSD adders. The proposed RBSD adder design can bring further area saving for large scale designs.

  • In this paper we implemented various image processing filtering using the format converter. This design method is based on realized the large processor-per-pixel array by integrated circuit technology. These two types of integrated structure are can be classify associative parallel processor and parallel process DRAM (or SRAM) cell. Layout pitch of one-bit-wide logic is Identical memory cell pitch to array high density PEs in integrate structure. This format converter design has control path implementation efficiently, and can be utilize the high technology without complicated controller hardware. Sequence of array instruction are generated by host computer before process start, and instructions are saved on unit controller. Host computer is executed the pixel-parallel operation starting at saved instructions after processing start. As a result, we obtained three result that 1) simple smoothing suppresses higher spatial frequencies, reducing noise but also blurring edges, 2) a smoothing and segmentation process reduces noise while preserving sharp edges, and 3) median filtering may be applied to reduce image noise. Median filtering eliminates spikes while maintaining sharp edges and preserving monotonic variations in pixel values.

  • The design of a 3.2 Gb/s serial link receiver in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process is presented. The major factors limiting the performance of high-speed links are transmission channel bandwidth, timing uncertainty. The design uses a multi-level signaling(4-PAM) to overcome these problems. Moreover, to increase data bit-rate and lower BER, we designed this circuit by using a current mode amplifier, Current-mode Logic(CML) sampling latches. The 4-PAM receiver achieves 3.2 Gb/s and BER is less than $1.0\;{\times}\;10^{-12}$. The $0.5\;{\times}\;0.6\;mm^2$ chip consumes 49 mA at 3.2 Gb/s from a 1.8-V supply.

  • This paper introduces an FPGA self-test architecture reusing FPGA boundary scan chain as self-test circuits. An FPGA boundary scan cell is two or three times bigger than a normal boundary scan cell because it is used for configuring the function of input/output pins functions as well as testing and debugging. Accordingly, we analyze the architecture of an FPGA boundary scan cell in detail and design a set of built-in self-test (BIST) circuits in which FPGA boundary scan chain and a small amount of FPGA logic elements. By reusing FPGA boundary scan chain for self-test, we can reduce area overhead and perform a processor based on-board FPGA testing/monitoring. Experimental results show the area overhead comparison and simulation results.

  • In digital mobile communication systems, the convolutional coding is considered as the optimum error correcting scheme. Recently, the Viterbi algorithm is widely used for the decoding of convolutional code. Most Viterbi decoder has been proposed in conde rate R=1/2 or 2/3 with memory components (m) less than 3. which degrades the error correcting capability because of small code constraints (K). We consider the design method for typical code rate R=1/2, K=7(171,133) convolutional code with memory components, m=6. In this paper, a novel construction method is presented which combines maximum likelihood decoding with a state transition double detection and comparison method. And the designed circuit has the error-correcting capability of random 2 bit error. As the results of logic simulation, it is shown that the proposed Viterbi decoder exactly corrects 1 bit and 2 bit error signal.

  • A Propeller-Anemometer is an instrument used specifically, to measure the wind speed. The accurate measurement of the wind speed is vitally important such required by any weather stations. In this research, the measurand of the instrumentation was the rotational speed of the propeller and the instrumentation result or output data was wind velocity. The speed measured was recorded digitally in the computer by using specific software. A specific sensor used to measure a variable by converting information of the variable (rotational speed of the propeller) into a dependent signal such as electrical signal in form of voltage. The development of Propeller-Anemometer involved few sets of instrumentation process and equipment. It included three major parts, mechanical, electronics and computer. The main instrumentation processes were physical and signal interfacing, signal conditioning, logic interfacing, data transmission to computer and processing the data. Generally, this paper presents the overall concept and design of Propeller-Anemometer Instrumentation. However, an emphasis was mainly in designing and building the interfacing system, hardware and software. Basically, for the first phase of the development, this project designed and built the RS232 terminal using Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC), PIC16F873. The hardware can be interfaced to computer or other compatible devices. This routine converted input voltage from the circuit to speed (velocity) and transmitted them afterwards to the target device by using the RS232 transmission protocol. This implementation implied a computer display as visual interface. For the purpose of this paper, RS232 data transmission was carried out using a Microsoft Visual Basic software routine.
