  • GPIR(GPS Position Information Revision) system is a new concept of GPS system which utilizes database containing the location of taking a picture by the existing GPS, an angle between a camera and a subject and the location information of buildings and minimizes the GPS's own margin of error and there by provides the services, such as location-guiding via GPS and way-guiding via navigation in an exact and precision way more than before. GPIR system comprehends the location of taking photos via GPS information saved in G-files, searches database in the direction of taking a photo at a photo-taking position via location information and the photo-taking directional angle. And GPIR system corrects the GPS information searched to the location of a subject, again saves such information in a G-file and is ready for receiving more detailed location of the subject. This study explores into the design and development of a receiver which a GPIR user is able to utilize its system as well as the design of the receiver's prototypes.

  • A challenging task in the LBS system engineering is to implement a highly scalable system architecture which can manage moderate-size configurations handling thousands of moving items as well as upper-end configurations handling distributed computing system architecture that consists of multiple data processors, each dedicated to keeping records relevant to a different geographical zone and a different time zone. In this paper, we explain a prototype location data server structuring major components of GALIS by employing the TMO programming scheme, including the execution engine middleware developed to support real-time distributed object programming and real-time distributed computing system design. We present how to generate realistic location sensing reports and how to process such location reports and location-related queries. Some experimental results showing performance factors regarding distributed query processing are also explained.

  • Child crimes such as child abduction and lost children(MIA) have long been pointed out as social problems. However, there are few ways to solve these problems. According to MIA statistics, about 3,000 babies are lost each year. This paper presents a study on prevention of lost children ratio using mobile LBS in order to reduce the incidence of lost children ratio in dense space. First, we input the personal information of the child and the contact information of the parent. Second, we use the Google Maps API to get the location (parent's location, child's location) information. Third, the personal information of the child and the parent is indicated in the obtained location information. In future research, based on SNS, we will carry out research on sending child location information and parent location information via SMS. It is expected that the prevention system of lost child using LBS and SNS will make a great contribution to reduce the lost children ratio in the ubiquitous society.

  • Regional CRL(certificate revocation list) in vehicular communications is to partition Full CRL into several small CRLs according to geographic location to keep the size of individual CRLs with smaller. However, since a Regional CRL includes vehicle's revoked certificates within its administrative region, it has to know vehicle' location. For this, how to know vehicle' location effectively corresponding to every region represents a major challenge. This paper proposes a Regional CRL scheme which is envisioned to achieve vehicle's location and to make regional CRLs according to vehicles current location efficiently. The scheme is based on the short-lived pseudonyms defined by WAVE standard. It also acquires issued pseudonyms, vehicle's id and region information whenever a vehicle initiates pseudonyms refill after that, utilizes them to create and distribute the Regional CRL. To keep location privacy-preserving for vehicles, the scheme uses the blockchain technology in the network. The analysis results show that it reduces CRL size and database query time for finding revoked certificates sharply in the vehicle's on-board unit.

  • In this paper, we propose a location-based service that the user's location is known by connection history to WI-FI AP installed in a facility known its location previously. The location-based service proposed in this paper manages job processing states of technicians who inspect and maintain the facility like elevator by using worker's location and arrival time information. The job scheduling management method proposed in this paper is based on previously scheduled arrival time and actual arrival time to a target facility. And we experimentally implemented the inspection and maintenance system of an elevator to show the feasibility of job schedule management based on location and arrival time information acquired from Wi-Fi AP connection history. Our experimental implementation shows that our proposed method is usefulness in the field of the inspection and maintenance of a facility.

  • While lots of new mobile applications are being developed, applications that provide positional information by using LBS (Location Based Service) have become popular. For instance, smart phones are able to find my location and a destination easily by using GPS, which installed in the instrument, and run the program. However, these existing positional information applications can find the location of only one user at a time. These programs are not able to find out accurate directions from current location to the destination. This paper suggests a case of system development which solved some of the problems in the implementation of existing applications using LBS. The suggested system to solve these issues, having multiple users to share positional information and showing directions, run by AR (Argument Reality). In daily use, this application would be very efficient for location people in the vicinity.

  • With the increasing number of subscribers in the mobile communication, the reduction of the cell size and the increment of roaming frequency have increased the cost of location management. In order to reduce the cost of location management, we propose a new strategy of location management. In this scheme, whether the terminal executes location update or not is decided both by the call arrival probability in a new LA and by the number of location updates which are unexecuted despite that the terminal moved into a new LA. The call arrival probability is computed using the predicted information about the terminal mobility pattern. We simulated to evaluate our strategy's performance. In the high mobility prediction level, this scheme reduces the cost of location update considerably. Even though it is in the low mobility prediction level, the cost does not exceed that of IS-41 at most. This scheme also showed better performance, compared with that of AS(Alternative Strategy) which requires an overhead such as predicted information maintenance.

  • Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are networks of mobile nodes that have no fixed network infrastructure. Since the mobile node's location changes frequently, it is an attractive area to maintain the node's location efficiently. In this paper, we present an adaptive randomized database group (ARDG) scheme to manage the mobile nodes mobility in MHANETs. The proposed scheme stores the network nodes' location in location databases to manage the nodes' mobility. When a mobile node changes its location or needs a node's location, the node randomly select some databases to update or que교 the location information. The number of the selected databases is fixed in the case of querying while the number of the databases is determined according to the node's popularity in the case of updating. We evaluated the performance of the proposed scheme using an analytical model, and compared the performance with that of the conventional randomized database group (RDG) scheme.

  • It is not easy to identify the location of mobile terminals based on drones in the mountainous area, the densely populated urban area, or the space where mobile terminals can easily move by using equipments or modules that can recognize the location of sensors or mobile terminals with LBS (Location-Based Service). However, although the performance of GPS has developed due to the development of technology, it is still widely used in position recognition systems using GPS modules in the sea and onshore, and there is much room for more utilization. Currently, most of the existing sensor networks need to send at least three location information messages to mobile terminals with location information that a plurality of mobile base stations depend on GPS. However, location recognition of mobile repeaters that maintain a certain movement speed using acceleration sensors is necessary for efficient communication network connection.
