  • The common underwater rock removal methods involve underwater blasting and crane's chisel dropping impact method. From an environmental point of view, these methods cause ground vibrations and underwater noise. At the site for this study, a method of dropping heavyweight chisel is selected to remove the underwater bedrock near the ferry rack in the course of improving the cargo handling ability of the loading dock. A prediction formula for the vibration was obtained based on the measurement and evaluation of the vibrations caused by the chisel dropping impacts during the test droppings. The prediction formula was successfully applied to the main construction for securing the stability of the structure.

  • Dark and desolate underground parking spaces in commercial facilities are optimal spaces for crime. First, this study reviewed 15 precedent CPTED guidelines and related literatures, and as a result extracted 45 CPTED planning criteria for underground parking facilities. Secondly by field survey, we investigated six parking spaces in commercial facilities whether they were planned properly based on 45 checklist items, in six categories of CPTED principles. In result, target facilities showed average 46.8% relevance ratio, which means less than a half of 45 items of CPTED planning factors were not applied. Guidelines suggest desirable illuminance level of more than 100 lux, however the measurement of illuminance levels in some parking spaces showed below 50 lux. Relatively department stores were keeping CPTED guidelines better than large discount mart and mixed used facilities. Definition of territory of loading dock and customer area should be clarified, clear signage and color scheme in different zones should be represented with higher level of territorial responsibilities and surveillance in mixed used facilities for further improvement.

  • Deflection estimation at engine room upper deck panel is performed for the actual ship structure. These deflection behaviours are basically investigated from not only the data based on the full series results of nonlinear analysis using Incremental Galerkin's Method but also actual deflection data measured from damaged ship under construction in dry dock. The effects of residual stress, initial deflection and static loading are also included. The computed estimation results of upper deck plate panel including theme effects are shown that upper deck platings of new ship expected less deflection magnitude than damaged ship.

  • The scale and operating conditions of logistical systems very sensitively varies according to the variation of traffic intensity that is affected by the arrival characteristics of trucks and the attributes of loading/unloading services in logistics facilities. More exactly, logistics costs are incurred according to variations of traffic intensity. which are intimately linked with in a given time period. Also. although traffic intensity changes minutely, the range of cost variation is wide. Nevertheless, with regard to operating logistics systems, the existing studies make no attempt to analyze these factors. Therefore, it was the purpose of this study to determine the optimal traffic intensity to minimize excessive logistics costs resulting from the generation of unnecessary costs such as waiting costs and overcosts in operating a facility. For the purposes of this analysis. a determination model of optimal traffic intensity was constructed according to queuing theory. The inflow/outflow conditions of trucks and the terminal operational conditions were collected from an off-dock container terminal in Busan. On the basis of this data. the optimal traffic intensity that could off-set excessive waiting and operating costs was determined quantitatively. Also. using the optimal traffic intensity to be determined. we consider the improvements of operating system in the logistics facilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a reference for stage planning by analyzing current state of major theaters' stage space and understanding feedback from directors belonged to theaters. Each room in total 18 theaters' stage facilities was measured and their usage and requirements were analyzed on the spot. In addition, each director provided their experiential knowledge about appropriate stage composition for musical performance. The findings are as follow: under stage machinery is not needed for musical. Tour teams prefer to use their own show-deck for set conversion. On the other hand, over stage flying system needs to be able to deal with dense, fast, and accurate scene change. The size and location of the motor room needs to be carefully considered. The number of set battens is directly linked up with the size of the motor room, which should be located lower than the gridiron. As stage sets get bigger and complicated, the number of works at the gridiron is also increasing. The grating floor has to have enough strength coping with machines lifting heavy sets. Most sound control for musical performance is being done at F.O.H. these days rather that in the sound control room. It should equip enough work area and related infra especially for tour teams. 1st gallery needs to have enough effective width, power infra for lighting fixture, and strong guardrail. Lastly, the whole process of parking-unloading-transporting equipments and sets from loading dock to stage and vice versa needs to be efficient, and this has to be carefully considered from early stage of planning.

  • Currently, the shipping and port industries are implementing strategies to improve port processing capabilities through the expansion and efficient operation of port logistics resources to survive fierce competition with rapidly changing trends. The calculation of the port's processing capacity is determined by the loading and unloading equipment installed at the dock, and the port's processing capacity can be improved through various methods, such as additional deployment of logistics resources or efficient operation of resources in use. However, it is difficult to expect an improvement effect in a short period of time because the additional deployment of logistics resources is clearly limited in time is clear. Therefore, it is a feasible way to find an efficient operation method for resources being used to improve processing capacity. Domestic ports are also actively promoting informatization and digitalization with the development of the 4th industrial revolution technology. However, the calculation of the number of Y/T (Yard Tractor) assignments in the current unloading process depends on expert experience, and related previous studies also focus on the allocations of Y/T or Calculation of the total number of Y/T required. Therefore, this study analyzed the factors affecting the number of Y/T allocations using the loading and unloading information of incoming ships, and based on this, cluster analysis, regression analysis, and deep neural network(DNN) model were used.
