The purpose of this research is find basic data for the design of space for both living and working. This research, is based on research, well known throughout the world, that are related to the design of space for both working and living. In addition the fundamental data, which I used, are also basically focused on putting practical use to the space. With that goal in mind, the research has been proved through the following four means. Firstly, common theories about space for working and living were studios. Secondly, patterns and elements that makeup space for those kinds of places were investigated. Thirdly, the nine example places, that have been chosen were analyzed in order to outline, the space types, the elements that makeup the space and problems posed. Finally, the solution found that will resolve the problems exposed, has been presented.

This study aims at examining the actual conditions of lighting environment and the consciousness and responses of residents with the living room of apartment house, grasping the problems of existing lighting methods, offering the lighting environment design standard in harmony with the various demands of residents, functions of living room space, life in living room and interior decoration and then pursuing the comfortable living environment. As the scope and methods of research for these, existing research methods are examined through the consideration of preceding researches and the basic outline of this research is constructed. Questionnaire survey is conducted with six apartment complexes including Kumho district, Munhung district, Sangmu district, Unnam district, Ilkok district and Chumdan district, the problems and improvements of lighting environment conditions are examined, conception and selection of lighting equipment design image are made, lighting equipment design of living room is suggested and the expected effects of lighting equipment ordering method are arranged as follows. As a result of examining and analyzing the lighting environment of living room in existing apartment houses, it is known that the conditions of existing lighting environment considered uniform lighting plan for functional sides of each room which didn't consider the various living behaviors and preference of residents and while the degree of interior decoration design is actually positive. Accordingly it seems that the lighting equipment ordering which considers the various preferences of residents is applied as the means for comfortable lighting environment, the interior environmental mood will be greatly improved.

The purpose of this study is to suggest customized service for managing solitary death using lifelog of the elderly living alone. The use of the lifelog technology is due to the advantage of suggesting a personalized service by analyzing the current situation by searching the past experiences of the elderly living alone. The method of study is reviewing literature and previous studies and collecting and analyzing the lifelog information of elderly living alone. The results of the study are as follows. First, it examined the problem of solitary death of the elderly living alone and tried to grasp the problem of the service using the IT technology supported by the government. Second, the lifelog information of the elderly living alone A was collected for two weeks. And the daily patterns of elderly living alone were analyzed through lifelog interpretation. Third, we proposed and discussed the residents' personalized service for managing solitary death based on the lifelog of the elderly living alone. It is an advantage of this paper that it is possible to support customized services by analyzing the general behavior of the elderly living alone and the exceptional behavior in the housing. However, the limitation of this study is that it does not reflect more subjects with various characteristics.

Since the significance of the living room has been stressed as the space for family gathering, the weight of an ornamental console among the living room furniture is being increased. A console is an excellent small-sized furniture to highlight the spatial characteristics by being placed in front of the plane wall, which is left as an empty space or between doors. Therefore, this study aims to defined a console and to understand the issues raised on it by analyzing the domestic and international data that are addressed until today. Meanwhile, various consoles in the market today were analyzed through catalogues, data derived from internet, and literature sources on furniture to conduct the processes of idea sketch, rendering, design confirmation, design draft, and computer rendering (3D). As for the design concept of a console, modern design equipped with practicability and ornamental is adopted in the form of a combined console table and flower vase. In terms of economic feasibility and versatility, the design is developed to allow the console use by removing the glass pipe depending on needs and in case of using a flower vase, small flower can be decorated using a glass pipe for the ornamental effect.

2007 Design Festival on Seongnam Living Design has been held with the theme of "You and I, We" on the basis of harmony through design. This kind of theme has the main concepts as follows: Harmony- the exhibition program that can capture our mind, Communication-the experience program not through personal work but through group work, Design Seongnam-joyful Sungnam which we have made together by regional participation design project. Especially, it also has encouraged active and voluntary participation based on the promotion of the event and design exhibition that are hosted by the universities, elementary and secondary schools that represent the downtown Seongnam. In understanding Seongnam City, it has applied the plan introducing emotional process. These are the programs, which are reading, thinking, listening, watching, touching, making, and dreaming. Through the processes of being with Seongnam by participants, it has helped people know more about Seongnam, and focused on being the exhibition understanding the members of the community Seongnam.

This study was intended to grasp the housing unit plan which the residents preferred. The subjects were 100 housewives who lived in 85$m^2$ sized housing units in the New Apartment Complex, Gimhae. First, four elements of unit plan were selected on the basis of the results of the POE which was carried out for the same subject the size of master bedroom and living room, the openness of dining/kitchen from living room, the openness of living room from entrance, and whether or not a bathtub or a shower booth is in bathroom. Then, eight design alternatives of unit plan made by combination of these four elements according to orthoplan were visualized by computer media. This visualized tool was used for collecting data. The results of the study were as follows: The important determinants of the residents' preferences for unit plan were the size of master bedroom and living room and the openness of living room from entrance. The residents preferred the unit plan which living room was large and the view from living room to dining/kitchen was open. Also, the important elements were different according to the characteristics of the residents. Therefore, the housing alternatives which are flexible and optional would be desirable.

In the paper the authors deal with inverter fed induction motors design criteria for having a wide constant power range. In particular, the flux weakening operation is the main feature considered. The design target concerns the possibility of having a wide flux weakening region avoiding or limiting, at the same time, to oversize the motor and the inverter.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the living environment design of orphanage based on universal design. The 3 orphanages which were rebuilded recently was selected and evaluated by checklists. The checklists which are based on 'Universal Design Principles' are consist of 120 items. The major results are summarized as follows: 1) The items related to safety were insufficient such as separation of pedestrian passage, rounded edge. 2) The items related to accessibility were high grade such as width of corridor, curb height. 3) Private zones for sleep, study and storage are needed more and living room is needed more furnitures for activities to increase friendship in the family of orphanage. The results will be expected to make contributions to developing orphanage environment design based on universal design, to understanding the nature of universal design paradigm.

본 연구는 고속성장주도의 근대화과정을 거치며 생성된 생활환경에 있어서의 다양한 문제와 그 해결방안에 관한 개념적 접근을 시도한 것이다. 고도정보ㆍ고령사회에 있어서 발생하는 다양한 문제의 본질을 $\ulcorner$도구를 포함한 생활환경에 있어서 사용성의 부조화$\lrcorner$ 에 있다고 보며, 아울러 $\ulcorner$사용이라는 행위를 통한 사회적 공평성의 확보$\lrcorner$ 는 생활인, 특히 고령자들에게 자신감과 즐거움을 제공하고, 커뮤니티 형성을 보다 원활하게 하여 삶의 질을 높이는데 중요한 역할을 한다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 일상생활에서 직면할 수 있는 다양한 사회적 병리 현상과 생활환경 문제에 대하여 디자인이라는 전문분야는 어떻게 관여하고 있으며, 특히 도구환경을 중심으로 하는 생활환경의 바람직한 재구축(커뮤니티 활성화를 통한 생활환경 변화)에 있어서 Universal Design의 역할에 관하여 고찰해 보았다.

Global Energy Industry's high oil prices persist while their petroleum and gas production areas are entering the decline phase. More and more the drilling facilities used to bore oil from deeper depths are advancing further out into the oceans, which cause the development of "OFFSHORE" ship manufacturer facility's production demands to increase. The "OFFSHORE" ships provide a living space or L.Q (Living Quarters) for crewmen who work on the water far away from any mainland for extended periods of time. This research analyzes the LQ areas and the characterization of interior designs of different types of "OFFSHORE" ships that were built in South Korea. Also using overseas countries' Classification Society, known as "NORSOK," and analyzing their own design guidelines in conjunction with the research, the process of interior design and baseline data research was used to blueprint the new LQ areas. According to the results of the research, where ships get comprised of characteristics and operations by standards of the Classification Society's RULE, has the greatest effect on the design and design method of the LQ area. The research also shows that a conservative shipbuilding market of the Shipbuilding Company and ship owners' feelings are steadily changing to more open mindedness of acceptance. Therefore, the Korean Classification Society has to provide the new design principle to correspond to the international regulations and more various interior design plans of LQ areas needed to be present based on the new design guidelines. The capacity of the South Korean OFFSHORE shipbuilding industry is the world's top leader; however, the interior design of the LQ areas are still based from outdated designs from the 1980's. Hopefully these research results will be the cornerstone to help the shift from the outdated designs of the LQ areas to more practical modern designs.
