  • In this paper, we studied an efficient inter-working method in which QualNet network simulator can import WAVE channel model and physical layer simulation module pre-designed by Matlab tool. At first, we investigated physical layer and communication medium simply designed in QualNet, then we suggested practical method for QualNet network simulator to adopt different type of physical layer simulation module in which detailed multi-path fading channel model and IEEE802.11p communication modem are designed. This work should be applied to linked simulation between upper layer and lower physical layer for total simulation from higher layer to lower physical layer related to next generation DSRC/WAVE specification.

  • In this article, we implement a recently developed fast Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) for pricing equity-linked securities (ELS), which is most commonly issued autocallable structured financial derivative in South Korea, on the mobile platform. The fast MCS is based on Brownian bridge technique. Although mobile platform devices are easy to carry around, mobile platform devices are slow in computation compared to desktop computers. Therefore, it is essential to use a fast algorithm for pricing ELS on the mobile platform. The computational results demonstrate the practicability of Android application implementation for pricing ELS.

  • As the industry environment is changing to automated systems, engineering education at university has changed with industrial development. Industry technology will be developed, and the industry environment will become more complicated. Therefore, the knowledge that undergraduates have to acquire in university will be extensive. Industries need a person with expertise to react quickly to rapidly changing technology. Therefore, universities need to endeavor to cultivate manpower in technical fields. This is difficult because the contents of engineering education must react quickly to rapidly changing industry technology. This paper proposes a hardware-linked simulation platform for engineering education on the well-used systems in industrial sites.

  • Equity-linked securities (ELS) provide their customers with the return linked to the underlying equity (or equities). Equity-linked products in Korea have recently gained popularity due to relatively low interest rates. This paper discusses an equity-linked security whose principal is not guaranteed. The payoff of the ELS depends on the returns of two underlying assets. This paper presents numerical prices of the proposed product by using Monte-Carlo simulation method. It assumes that the log-returns of two stocks follow either Brownian motion or variance gamma process. Finally, the comparison of the two approaches is discussed.

  • In this paper, we develop a mobile platform for pricing equity linked securities(ELS) using Monte Carlo simulation. Mobile phone or smartphone is an important part of most people's lives and has become an everyday item at the present day. Moreover, importance of technologies for anytime and anywhere is increasing daily. Thus, we construct a mobile computing environment for pricing ELS instead of desktops or laptop computers. We provide a detailed Java programming code and a process manual to easily follow up all processes of this paper.

  • Water balance analysis in heightened reservoirs, which have been raised to ensure a stable supply of irrigation water and secure water against floods and heavy rainfall, is essential for evaluating water supply capacity and reservoir maintenance. The consecutively linked reservoir system, which involves preserving the existing embankment while constructing a new one, affects the water balance between the existing and new reservoirs. This study aims to analyze the linked water balance between reservoirs in a consecutively linked reservoir system using the DIROM (Daily Irrigation Reservoir Operation Model) model. Surveys were conducted to investigate actual water use, and multiple water supply quantities were estimated based on these findings. Methods to supplement missing data and improve the limitations of simulated inflow were proposed and applied, and the performance of the daily storage simulation was evaluated. By supplementing the missing water use data, the NSE (Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency) of the Sonhang reservoir storage rate simulation improved by approximately 30%. Additionally, result of using inflow coefficients significantly enhanced the simulation performance for the Sonhang2 and Sonhang reservoirs. This study confirms the necessity of incorporating appropriate inflow coefficients in reservoir design to overcome the model's tendency to overestimate inflow, highlighting the critical importance of quality control in observational data. The findings are expected to be useful for the design and analysis of future reservoir systems through embankment heightening.

  • The excitation energy transfer process occurring in energy donor-acceptor linked porphyrin array system is theoretically simulated using the on-the-fly filtered propagator path integral method. The compound consists of an energy donating meso-meso linked Zn(II) porphyrin array and an energy accepting 5,15-bisphenylethynylated Zn(II) porphyrin, in which the donor array and the acceptor are linked via a 1,4-phenylene spacer. Real-time path integral simulations provide time-evolution of the site population and the excitation energy transfer rate constants are determined. Simulations and experiments show an excellent agreement indicating that the path integration is a useful tool to investigate the energy transfer dynamics in molecular assemblies.

  • In this study, the multizone simulation for biosafety of BSL3 lab. and energy simulation are carried out simultaneously by using linked model of CONTAM and TRNSYS. In BSL3 lab., annual energy consumption is approximately five to ten times more than the magnitude of the office building. This is because required air change rate is extremely large and it is difficult to maintain room pressure difference efficiently. To maintain pressure difference between laboratory rooms through sealing condition of doors and proper airflow control is significant. In this study, to predict indoor environment of the BSL3 lab.(Influenza A research lab.), the multizone simulation for four kinds of biohazard scenario is also performed as part of risk assessment. Multizone and energy simulation results by using linked model show that these approaches are used as a tool for the energy efficient design and operation method for the safer BSL3 lab. facilities.
