An inertia redistribution technique for liberalizing and reducing the complexity of manipulator dynamics with a parallel drive mechanism is presented in this paper. The dynamic design method is based on eliminating nonlinear terms, such as Coriolis, centrifugal and gravity torque in the kinetic and the potential energy of a manipulator. A set of design criteria regarding the inertia properties of links is derived. The resulting manipulator dynamics can be greatly simplified for each robot. This paper particularly presents that it is possible to completely linearize the manipulator dynamics with a parallel drive mechanism.
Considering the problems of poor control effect, weak disturbance rejection ability and adaptive ability of two-wheeled self-balanced robot (TWSBR) systems on undulating roads, this paper proposes a fuzzy neural network active disturbance rejection controller (FNNADRC), that is based on fuzzy neural network (FNN) for online correction of active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC)'s nonlinear control rate. Firstly, the dynamic model of the TWSBR is established and decoupled, the extended state observer (ESO) is used to compensate dynamically and linearize the upright and displacement subsystems. Then, the nonlinear PD control rate and FNN are designed, and the FNN is used to modify the control parameters of the nonlinear PD control rate in real time. Finally, the proposed control strategy is simulated and compared with the traditional ADRC and fuzzy active disturbance rejection controller (FADRC). The simulation results show that the control effect of the proposed control strategy is slightly better than ADRC and FADRC.
In this Paper a transmitter system for IMr-2000 using feed-forward linearization method was Proposed to linearize power amplifier. The feed-forward structure needs a reference signal to compare and neutralize distortion : this is achieved through the second modulator which is operated at very low input level to obtain a signal with a negligible distortion. Therefore, this structure can reduce distortion of modulator as well as Power amplifier. This is the advantage over the existing system structure. The Proposed transmitter system is designed and simulated by Agilent ADS ver.2002. A two tone test for the system is done at 1.98GHz center frequency with frequency spacing of 2MHz. The reduction of Inter-Modulation Distortion(IMD) is around 49.95dB. This proposed system offers an excellent combination of linearity and simplicity.
This study investigated the steady-flow effects present in the numerical computation of the resistance added to a ship in waves. For a ship advancing in the forward direction, a time-domain 3D Rankine panel method is applied to solve the ship motion problem, and the added resistance due to waves is calculated using a near-field method, with the direct integration of the second-order pressure on the hull surface. In the linear potential theory, the steady flow is approximated by the basis potential of a uniform flow or double-body flow in order to linearize the boundary conditions. By applying these two different linearization schemes, the coupling effects between steady and unsteady solutions were examined. Furthermore, in order to analyze the steady-flow effects on the hull geometry, the computation results for two realistic hull forms, a KVLCC2 tanker and DTC containership, were compared. In particular, the mj term, which represents the coupling effects under the body boundary condition, was evaluated considering the geometry of a non-wall-sided ship. Lastly, the characteristics of the linearization schemes were examined in relation to the disturbed waves around a ship and the components of added resistance.

This paper presents a technique that can obtain an optimal solution for the Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) problems using the Interior Point Method (IPM) while taking into account of the power flow constraints. The SCED equations are formulated by using only the real power flow equations from the optimal power flow. Then an algorithm is presented that can linearize the SCED equations based on the relationships among generation real power outputs, loads, and transmission losses to obtain the optimal solutions by applying the linear programming (LP) technique. The objective function of the proposed linearization algorithm are formulated based on the fuel cost functions of the power plants. The power balance equations utilize the Incremental Transmission Loss Factor (ITLF) corresponding to the incremental generation outputs and the line constraints equations are linearized based on the Generalized Generation Distribution Factor (GGDF). Finally, the application of the Primal Interior Point Method (PIPM) for solving the optimization problem based on the proposed linearized objective function is presented. The results are compared with the Simplex Method and the promising results ard obtained.
Linearization of the biped dynamic equations and design of linear controller for the linearized equations are studied in this paper. The biped robot with inverted pendulum type trunk, used to stabilize the dynamic balancing of the biped robot during dynamic walking period, is modelled with 14 DOF and simulated. Despite of well defined linear control theories so far, the linear control methods was limited to the applications for a walking robot, because they have been inherently strong nonlinear properties, such as a modeling parameter uncertainties, external forces as noise, inertial and Coriolis terms by three dimensional modeling and so on. To linearize the nonlinear equations of motion of biped robot on MIMO and time varying linear equations of motion, 1st order Taylor series is used to formulate the linear equation. And a 2nd order numerical perturbation method Is used to approximate partial differential equations. Using the linearized equations of motion, a linear controller is designed by pole placement method with feed forward compensation. Using the obtained linearized equations and linear controller, the continuous walking simulation is performed.
problem of pedestrian localization using mobile nodes containing impulse radio ultra wideband (IR-UWB) is considered. IEEE 802.15.4a-based IR-UWB can achieve accurate ranging. However, the coverage is as short as 30 m, owing to the restricted transmit power. This factor may cause a poor geometric relationship among the mobile nodes and anchor nodes in certain environments. To localize a group of pedestrians accurately, an enhanced cooperative localization method is proposed. We describe a sequential algorithm and define problems that may occur in the implementation of the algorithm. To solve these problems, a batch algorithm is proposed. The batch algorithm can be carried out after performing the sequential algorithm to linearize the nonlinear range equation. When a sequential algorithm cannot be performed due to a poor geometric relationship among nodes, a batch algorithm can be carried out directly. Herein, Monte Carlo simulations are presented to illustrate the proposed method and verify its performance.

A digital tracking controller is proposed for micro electrostatic actuator with input nonlinearity, where disturbance observer is utilized in cooperation with inverse function. Generally the disturbance observer is announced to be robust to modeling uncertainty, and external disturbance. But, when the nonlinearity exists in the systems, the disturbance observer may not directly be applied to that system, because the nonlinearity may destabilize the overall system. Therefore, first, we linearize the nonlinear input characteristics of micro electrostatic actuator by the use of inverse function. Secondly, we apply disturbance observer to approximately linearized system for eliminating the residuals of nonlinearity and the modeling uncertainty. Then, we get the good properties of the disturbance rejection as well as the robustness due to the own nature of disturbance observer. In this case, we propose a sufficient condition for the robust stability of overall systems. Furthermore, we discuss the problem that may be exposed when disturbance observer is applied to the internally stable system with saturation, and analyze two methods to overcome input saturation problem in the sense of internal stability. Simulations have been carried out to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
Orbit determination problems have been interest of many researchers for long time. Due to the high nonlinearity of the equation of motion and the measurement model, it is necessary to linearize the both equations. To avoid linearization, the filter based on Fokker-Planck equation is designed. with the extended Kalman filter update mechanism, in which the associated Fokker-Planck equation was solved efficiently and accurately via discrete quadrature and the measurement update was done through the extended Kalman filter update mechanism. This filter based on the DQMOM and the EKF update is applied to the orbit determination problem with appropriate modification to mitigate the filter smugness. Unlike the extended Kalman filter, the hybrid filter based on the DQMOM and the EKF update does not require the burdensome evaluation of the Jacobian matrix and Gaussian assumption for the system, and can still provide more accurate estimations of the state than those of the extended Kalman filter especially when measurements are sparse. Simulation results indicate that the advantages of the hybrid filter based on the DQMOM and the EKF update make it a promising alternative to the extended Kalman filter for orbit estimation problems.

In radar tracking, since the sensor measures range, azimuth and elevation angle of a target, the measurement equation is nonlinear and the extended Kalman filter (EKF) is applied to nonlinear estimation. The conventional EKF has been widely used as a nonlinear filter for radar tracking, but the considerably large measurement error due to the linearization of nonlinear function in highly nonlinear situations may deteriorate the performance of the EKF To solve this problem, a fuzzy-model-based Kalman filter (FMBKF) is proposed for radar tracking. The FMBKF uses a local model approximation based on a TS fuzzy model instead of a Jacobian matrix to linearize nonlinear measurement equation. The hybrid GA and RLS method is used to identify the premise and the consequent parameters and the rule numbers of this TS fuzzy model. In two-dimensional radar tracking problem, the proposed method is compared with the conventional EKF.
