Phase Modulation Efficiency of the Electrooptic Modulator using GaAs/AlGaAs (GaAs/AlGaAs을 이용한 전계광학 변조기의 위상변조 효율)

  • In this paper we investigate the phase modulation efficiency in the electrooptic phase modulator using PPpinNN GaAs/AlGaAs W-type waveguide. The phase change is affected by the refractive index change taking place inside the depletion region. The behavior of the modulator can be understood in terms of two electric field-related and two carrier-related effects linear electrooptic, quadratic electrooptic, plasma, and bandgap shift. As a result, the phase modulation efficiency was measured about 34.6($^{\circ}$/V$.$mm) for the TE polarized light. The quadratic electrooptic coefficient R 5.82${\times}$10$\^$-15/($\textrm{cm}^2$/V$^2$) is Obtained ant the Phase efficiency Caused by the quadratic electrooptic effect is about 10 times larger than that from the conventional linear electrooptic effect.

  • Rotating machines are using gears to change the rotary motion into the linear motion, on the other hand, linear motors have a accurate position control and excellent dynamic characteristics because of generating a thrust force directly. But the important problem, one of the linear motor is a high thrust force ripple. Thrust force ripple has a bad effect on the position accuracy and the dynamic characteristics, so it is necessary to reduce the thrust force ripple. Cogging is one of the cause that affect thrust force ripple. Cogging has some connection with the GCD between pole pitch and teeth pitch It is proposed method to reduce a thrust ripple of the linear motor that chamfering, skew, and so on. In this paper, the module phase set shift(MPSS) is used to reduce a thrust force ripple that has a similar effect to skew. And propose a method that reduce a thrust force ripple more by use of chamfering.

  • Numerous methods are available for reducing the end-effect force of linear machines. Majority of these methods focus on redesigning the poles or slots. However, these methods require additional manufacturing cost and decrease the power density. The current paper introduces another approach to reduce the end-effect force. The new approach is a method of tuning the input phase current magnitudes individually. According to the proposed method, reduction of the end-effect force could be achieved without redesigning the poles/slots or attaching auxiliary poles/slots. The proposed method is especially applicable when the target motor is very expensive or will be used for a special mission, such as hauling army vehicles equipped with three single-phase inverters. The validity of the suggested method was exemplified by the finite element method with three-phase permanent-magnet linear synchronous motor.

High resolution Linear Encoder Using Interference Fringe (레이저의 간섭무늬를 이용한 리니어 엔코더에 관한 연구)

  • The main scale of linear encoder greatly effects on the precision of displacement measurement. Especially when needing the long range measurement the length of main scale should be increased accordingly. In this paper we propose a linear encoder that uses laser interference pattern as main scale for long range measurement. The linear encoder is similar to Michelson interferometer excepting that the reference mirror is tilted so as to obtain interference fringe pattern and a grating panel is attached on a quadratic photo diodes. Four kinds of grating having phase difference of 0. $\pi$/4, $\pi$/2, 3$\pi$/4 are arranged on the panel. The experimental results show that signals of quadratic photo diode A, B, {{{{ {-}atop {A } }}}} and {{{{ {- } atop {B } }}}} are cosine wavelike and successive signals have phase difference of $\pi$/4 each other. So the proposed method can achieve improved measurement resolution.

  • The main scale of linear scale greatly affects on the precision of displacement measurement.   • We propose a 10-GHz 2 × 2 phased-array radio frequency (RF) receiver with an 8-bit linear phase and 15-dB gain control range using 65-nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. An 8 × 8 phased-array receiver module is implemented using 16 2 × 2 RF phased-array integrated circuits. The receiver chip has four single-to-differential low-noise amplifier and gain-controlled phase-shifter (GCPS) channels, four channel combiners, and a 50-Ω driver. Using a novel complementary bias technique in a phase-shifting core circuit and an equivalent resistance-controlled resistor-inductor-capacitor load, the GCPS based on vector-sum structure increases the phase resolution with weighting-factor controllability, enabling the vector-sum phase-shifting circuit to require a low current and small area due to its small 1.2-V supply. The 2 × 2 phased-array RF receiver chip has a power gain of 21 dB per channel and a 5.7-dB maximum single-channel noise-figure gain. The chip shows 8-bit phase states with a 2.39° root mean-square (RMS) phase error and a 0.4-dB RMS gain error with a 15-dB gain control range for a 2.5° RMS phase error over the 10 to10.5-GHz band.

  • We tried to apply the linear solvation energy comparison method to solute retention in normal phase liquid chromatography. Correlation coefficients of regression of lnk' collected in a fixed eluent against solute polarity indices have proven to be lower than those obtained from reversed phase liquid chromatography data. This event can be attributed to complexity of solute retention process in normal phase liquid chromatography. We concluded from the regression results that each specific polarity of the stationary phase is greater than that of the mobile phase and that the difference in each polarity between the stationary phase and the mobile phase decreases as the volume fraction(${\phi}$) of the more polar solvent in the mobile phase increases. Correlations of lnk' of a single solute against solvent polarity indices have proven to be meaningless owing to covariance among the solvent polarity indices. Instead, a good linear relationship between lnk' and solvent ${\pi}^*$ was observed, and its linearity is better than that between lnk' and ${\phi}$.

  • In this paper, the implementation technique of digital crossover network using perfect linear phase IIR filters is presented. This system has various advantages which cannot be obtained from analog crossover network such as linear phase response, flat group delay and sharp cut-off at low-order over audio frequency band. The simulation results show that the group delay response is maximally flat and twice more attenuation in stop-band than the prototype elliptic IIR filter at all desired frequency.

  • In the transverse flux linear induction motor(TFLIM) with the general secondary composed of conductor and back-yoke, there exists a magnetized force into the normal direction or the air-gap direction of the thrust motion as well as the thrust force. Therefore, the various methodologies have been tried to use the normal force by the two independent control variables of the multi-phase input. But, as the force depends inevitably and strongly on the thrust force, it is essential to decouple both forces for two control index. In this paper, we suggest a novel approach capable of compensating the couple between both forces and the control index by using the DC-biased multi-phase input, and then realizing the independent control of TFLIM.
