  • In this paper, we propose a tone mapping method using Non-linear Dynamic Range Normalization (NDRN) for High Dynamic Range (HDR) images. HDR images are not suitable for commercial display devices because dynamic range of HDR images do not match with one of Low Dynamic Range (LDR) display devices. To reproduce a tone of HDR images for LDR displays, tone mapping methods have been proposed such as local and global tone mapping. We introduce NDRN to locate mean of HDR images at the center of LDR. NDRN preserves the details for highlight and shadow. By suppressing the significant luminance change in tone mapping, naturalness of original image can be also preserved. The experimental results show that the proposed method preserves details and naturalness of original images.

  • We designed the artificial olfactory sensing system (Electronic Nose) using MOS type sensor array fur recognizing and analyzing odour. The response of individual sensors of sensor array, each processing a slightly different response towards the sample volatiles, can provide enough information to discriminate between sample odours. In this paper, we applied clustering algorithm for dimension reduction, such as linear projection mapping (PCA method), nonlinear mapping (Sammon mapping method) and the combination of PCA and Sammon mapping having a better discriminating ability. The odours used are VOC (Volatile chemical compound) and Toxic gases.

  • Among the desirable properties of a piecewise linear parameterization, guaranteeing a one-to-one mapping (i.e., no triangle flips in the parameter plane) is often sought. A one-to-one mapping is accomplished by non-negative coefficients in the affine transformation. In the Floater's method, the coefficients were computed after the 3D mesh was flattened by geodesic polar-mapping. But using this geodesic polar map introduces unnecessary local distortion. In this paper, a simple variant of the original shape-preserving mapping technique by Floater is introduced. A new simple method for calculating barycentric coordinates by using straightest geodesics is proposed. With this method, the non-negative coefficients are computed directly on the mesh, reducing the shape distortion introduced by the previously-used polar mapping. The parameterization is then found by solving a sparse linear system, and it provides a simple and visually-smooth piecewise linear mapping, without foldovers.

  • We consider additive mappings similar to derivations on Banach ${\ast}$-algebras and we will first study the conditions for such additive mappings on Banach ${\ast}$-algebras. Then we prove some theorems concerning approximate linear mappings of derivation-type on Banach ${\ast}$-algebras. As an application, approximate linear mappings of derivation-type on $C^{\ast}$-algebra are characterized.

  • It is shown that every almost linear mapping $h:{\mathcal{A}}{\rightarrow}{\mathcal{B}}$ of a unital Poisson Banach algebra ${\mathcal{A}}$ to a unital Poisson Banach algebra ${\mathcal{B}}$ is a Poisson algebra homomorphism when h(xy) = h(x)h(y) holds for all $x,y{\in}\;{\mathcal{A}}$, and that every almost linear almost multiplicative mapping $h:{\mathcal{A}}{\rightarrow}{\mathcal{B}}$ is a Poisson algebra homomorphism when h(qx) = qh(x) for all $x\;{\in}\;{\mathcal{A}}$. Here the number q is in the functional equation given in the almost linear almost multiplicative mapping. We prove that every almost Poisson bracket $B:{\mathcal{A}}\;{\times}\;{\mathcal{A}}\;{\rightarrow}\;{\mathcal{A}}$ on a Banach algebra ${\mathcal{A}}$ is a Poisson bracket when B(qx, z) = B(x, qz) = qB(x, z) for all $x,z{\in}\;{\mathcal{A}}$. Here the number q is in the functional equation given in the almost Poisson bracket.

  • In this paper, a new integration of linear mapping capability with 4-20mA current loop receiver. This module allow user to change instrument variable instantly. Configurations are easy to set by using console command through serial communication port. Break in current loop or faulty current transmitter are easily detect through indicator. The implementation of the module and the test results are discussed.

  • Methods for stochastic simulation of non-Gaussian wind pressure have increasingly addressed the efficiency and accuracy contents to offer an accurate description of the extreme value estimation of the long-span and high-rise structures. This paper presents a linear prediction and z-transform (LPZ) based Cumulative distribution function (CDF) mapping algorithm for the simulation of multivariate non-Gaussian fluctuating wind pressure. The new algorithm generates realizations of non-Gaussian with prescribed marginal probability distribution function (PDF) and prescribed spectral density function (PSD). The inverse linear prediction and z-transform function (ILPZ) is deduced. LPZ is improved and applied to non-Gaussian wind pressure simulation for the first time. The new algorithm is demonstrated to be efficient, flexible, and more accurate in comparison with the FFT-based method and Hermite polynomial model method in two examples for transverse softening and longitudinal hardening non-Gaussian wind pressures.

  • For the purpose of disease mapping, we consider the four small area estimation techniques to estimate the mortality rate of small areas; direct, Empirical estimation with total moment estimator and local moment estimator, Estimation based on hierarchial generalized linear model. The estimators are compared by empirical study based on lung cancer mortality data from 2000 Annual Reports on the Cause of Death Statistics in Gyeongsang-Do and Jeonla-Do published by Korean National Statistical Office. Also he stability and efficiency of these estimators are investigated in terms of mean square deviation as well as variation of estimates.

  • It is shown that every almost linear mapping h : A\longrightarrowB of a unital $C^{*}$ -algebra A to a unital $C^{*}$ -algebra B is a homomorphism under some condition on multiplication, and that every almost linear continuous mapping h : A\longrightarrowB of a unital $C^{*}$ -algebra A of real rank zero to a unital $C^{*}$ -algebra B is a homomorphism under some condition on multiplication. Furthermore, we are going to prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of *-homomorphisms between unital $C^{*}$ -algebras, and of C-linear *-derivations on unital $C^{*}$ -algebras./ -algebras.
