This paper presents linear algebraic equations in the form of recursive formula to compute elastokinematic characteristics of a suspension system. Conventional methods of elastokinematic analysis are based on nonlinear kinematic constrant equations and force equilibrium equations for constrained mechanical systems, which require complicated and time-consuming implicit computing methods to obtain the solution. The proposed linearized elastokinematic equations in the form of recursive formula are derived based on the assumption that the displacements of elastokinematic behavior of a constrained mechanical system under external forces are very small. The equations can be easily computerized in codes, and have the advantage of sharing the input data of existing general multi body dynamic analysis codes. The equations can be applied to any form of suspension once the type of kinematic joints and elastic components are identified. The validity of the method has been proved through the comparison of the results from established elastokinematic analysis software. Error estimation and analysis due to piecewise linear assumption are also discussed.
The most important problem in target tracking can be said to be modeling the tracking system correctly. Although the simple linear dynamic equation for this model has used until now, the satisfactory performance could not be obtained owing to uncertainties of the real systems in the case of designing the filters baged on the dynamic equations. In this paper, we propose the extended robust Kalman filter (ERKF) which can be applied to the real target tracking system with the parameter uncertainties. A nonlinear dynamic equation with parameter uncertainties is used to express the uncertain system model mathematically, and a measurement equation is represented by a nonlinear equation to show data from the radar in a Cartesian coordinate frame. To solve the robust nonlinear filtering problem, we derive the extended robust Kalman filter equation using the Krein space approach and sum quadratic constraint. We show the proposed filter has better performance than the existing extended Kalman filter (EKF) via 3-dimensional target tracking example.
The ability of a robot system to comply to an environment via the control of tool-environment interaction force is of vital for the successful task accomplishment in many robot application. This paper presents the implementation of external force control for two dimensional contour following task using a commercial robot system. Force accommodation is used since a constraint imposed in our work is not to modify the commercial robot system. A linear, decoupled model of two dimensional contour following system in the discrete time domain is derived first. Then the experimental verification of linear control is obtained using a PUMA 560 manipulator with standard Unimation controller, Astek FS6-120A six axis wrist force sensor attached externally to the arm and LSI-11173 microcomputer. Experimentally obtained data shows that the RMS contact force error is 0.8246 N when following the straight edge and 2.3768 N when following 40 mm radius curved contour.

A general linearly constrained narrowband adaptive array is examined in the eigenvector space. The optimum weight vector in the eigenvector space is shown to have the same performance as in the standard coordinate system, except that the input signal correlation matrix and look direction steering vector are replaced with the eigenvalue matrix and transformed steering vector. It is observed that the variation in gain factor results in the variation in the distance between the constraint plane and the origin in the translated weight vector space such that the increase in gain factor decreased the distance from the constraint plane to the origin, thus affecting the nulling performance. Simulation results showed that the general linearly constrained adaptive array performed better at an optimal gain factor compared with the conventional linearly constrained adaptive array in a coherent signal environment and the former showed similar performance as the latter in a noncoherent signal environment.

In this paper, some problems that occur from faulty elements in a direction finding system composed of the linear array are studied and the method which improves the performance is proposed. The faulty element means the sensor that has no output or highly reduced gain than other normal sensors. In the presence method, the ocrrecting vector is calculated by maximizing the spatial spectrum subject to a constraint. The compensated spatial spectrum is obtained by this vector. The computer simulations have been performance to study the performance of the proposed method.
The application of critical excitation method with displacement-based objective function for multi degree of freedom (MDOF) systems is investigated. To this end, a new critical excitation method is developed to find the critical input motion of a MDOF system as a synthetic accelerogram. The upper bound of earthquake input energy per unit mass is considered as a new constraint for the problem, and its advantages are discussed. Considering this constraint, the critical excitation method is then used to generate synthetic accelerograms for MDOF models corresponding to three shear buildings of 10, 16, and 22 stories. In order to demonstrate the reliability of generated accelerograms to estimate dynamic response of the structures, three target ground motions with considerable level of energy contents are selected to represent "real critical excitation" of each model, and the method is used to re-generate these ground motions. Afterwards, linear dynamic analyses are conducted using these accelerograms along with the generated critical excitations, to investigate the key parameters of response including maximum displacement, maximum interstory drift, and maximum absolute acceleration of stories. The results show that the generated critical excitations can make an acceptable estimate of the structural behavior compared to the target ground motions. Therefore, the method can be reliably implemented to generate critical excitation of the structure when real one is not available.
Deployable structures have gained more and more applications in space and civil structures, while it takes a large amount of computational resources to analyze this kind of multibody systems using common analysis methods. This paper presents a new approach for dynamic analysis of multibody systems consisting of both rigid bars and arbitrarily shaped rigid bodies. The bars and rigid bodies are connected through their nodes by ideal pin joints, which are usually fundamental components of deployable structures. Utilizing the Moore-Penrose generalized inverse matrix, equations of motion and constraint equations of the bars and rigid bodies are formulated with nodal Cartesian coordinates as unknowns. Based on the constraint equations, the nodal displacements are expressed as linear combination of the independent modes of the rigid body displacements, i.e., the null space orthogonal basis of the constraint matrix. The proposed method has less unknowns and a simple formulation compared with common multibody dynamic methods. An analysis program for the proposed method is developed, and its validity and efficiency are investigated by analyses of several representative numerical examples, where good accuracy and efficiency are demonstrated through comparison with commercial software package ADAMS.
The paper describes localization of deformation in a bar under tensile loading. The material of the bar is considered as non-linear viscous elastic and the bar consists of two symmetric halves. It is assumed that the model represents behavior of the quasi-brittle viscous material under uniaxial tension with different loading rates. Besides that, the bar could represent uniaxial stress-strain law on a single plane of a microplane material model. Non-linear material property is taken from the microplane material model and it is coupled with the viscous damper producing non-linear Maxwell material model. Mathematically, the problem is described with a system of two partial differential equations with a non-linear algebraic constraint. In order to obtain solution, the system of differential algebraic equations is transformed into a system of three partial differential equations. System is subjected to loadings of different rate and it is shown that localization occurs only for high loading rates. Mathematically, in such a case two solutions are possible: one without the localization (unstable) and one with the localization (stable one). Furthermore, mass is added to the bar and in that case the problem is described with a system of four differential equations. It is demonstrated that for high enough loading rates, it is the added mass that dominates the response, in contrast to the viscous and elastic material parameters that dominated in the case without mass. This is demonstrated by several numerical examples.

This work proposes a model to solve the problem of Network Coding over a one-session multicast network. The model is based on a system of restrictions that defines the packet flows received in the sink nodes as functions of the outgoing flows from the source node. A multicast network graph is used to derive a directed labeled line graph (DLLG). The successive powers of the DLLG adjacency matrix to the convergence in the null matrix permits the construction of the jump matrix Source-Sinks. In its reduced form, this shows the dependency of the incoming flows in the sink nodes as a function of the outgoing flows in the source node. The emerging packets for each outgoing link from the source node are marked with a tag that is a linear combination of variables that corresponds to powers of two. Restrictions are built based on the dependence of the outgoing and incoming flows and the packet tags as variables. The linear independence of the incoming flows to the sink nodes is mandatory. The method is novel because the solution is independent of the Galois field size where the packet contents are defined.

Multi-code code division multiple access(MC-CDMA) has been proposed for providing the various service rates with different quality of service requirement by assigning multiple codes and increasing the capacity. However, it suffers from the serious problem of high peak to average power ratio(PAPR). So, it requires large input back-off, which causes poor power consumption in high power amplifier(HPA). In this paper, we propose a new method that can reduce PAPR efficiently by constraint codes based on the opposite correlation to the incoming information data in MC-CDMA. PAPR reduction depends on the length and indices of constraint codes in MC-CDMA system. There is a trade-off between PAPR reduction and the length of constraint codes. From the simulation results, we also investigate the BER improvement in AWGN channel with HPA. The simulation results show that BER performance can be similar with linear amplifier in two cases: 1) Using exact constraint codes without input back-off and 2) a few constraint codes with small input back-off.
