  • In the control system analysis and synthesis, the nonminimum phase system has some difficulties due to the undershoot behaviour and the constrained sensitivity function. SISO problems has been widely investigated in the literatures, and it is well known that the undershoot cannot be eliminated by any linear feedback control. However, the undershoot compensation in MIMO system is less studied, and this paper is to deal with the zero property and the nonminimum phase behaviour of the MIMO system. Firstly, some definitions of the zeros will be introduced. Second, some systems including nonminimum phase transmission zeros are exemplified to show that the undershoot behaviour could be eliminated by a linear feedback in MIMO systems.

  • A two-degrees-of-freedom servosystem for step-type reference signals has been preposed, in which the integral compensation is effective only when there is a modeling error or a disturbance input. this paper considers robust stability of the servosystem incorporating an observer against both structured and unstructured uncertainties of the plant. A condition is obtained as a linear matrix inequality, under which the servosystem is robustly stable independently of the gain of the integral compensator. This result implies that we can tune the gain to achieve a desirable transient response of the servpsystem preserving robust stability. An example is presented to demonstrate that under the robust stability condition, the transient response can be improved by increasing the gain of the integral compensator.

  • A novel approach based on WaveARX neural network observer is proposed far the fault detect of a class of nonlinear systems which consist of known linear part and unknown nonlinear part. A linear observer is first designed, then a nonlinear compensation term in the nonlinear observer is estimated by using a deconvolution method. The WaveARX network is used to model the obtained compensation term. At last, the residual fur fault detection is generated based on the analysis of the upper bound approximate error. Simulation results have shown the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.

  • For compensating the error motion of hydrostatic tables, we have introduced a way that the clarance of table is actively controlled corresponding to the amount of error with the nariable capillary, anmed as ACC. In previous paper, through the basic test, it was confirmed that by the use of ACC,the error motion within 2.7 .mu.m of a hydrostatic table could be compensated with the resolution of 27nm, 1/100 contollable range, and with the freqency bandwidth of 5.5Hz structurally. In this paper,we performed practital compensation of the linear and angular motion error of hydrostatic table using ACC. For improving the compensated motion accuracy, iterative control method is put into the control system. The experimental results show that by the simultaneous compensation of error, the linear and angular motion error are improved upto 0.25 .mu.m and 0.4arcsec,which are about 1/10 and 1/3 of the non-compensated motion errors respectively.

  • This paper describes an advanced compensation for non-linear functions designed to remove steering aberrations from phased array antennas. This system alters the steering command applied to the antenna in a way that the appropriate angle commands are given to the array steering software for the antenna to point to the desired position instead of squinting. Artificial neural networks are used to develop the inverse function necessary to correct the aberration. Also a straightforward antenna steering function is implemented with neural networks for the 9-term polynomials of forward steering function. In all cases the aberration is removed resulting in small RMS angular errors across the operational angle space when the actual antenna position is compared with the desired position. The use of neural network model provides a method of producing a non-linear system that can correct antenna performance and demonstrates the feasibility of generating an inverse steering algorithm.

  • Parallel manipulators have been used to a variety of applications, including the motion simulators and mechanism for precise machining. A Stewart-Gough type parallel manipulator is composed of six linear joints which have wider contact areas than revolute ones, so linear joints are more affected by frictional force. First, the reference trajectories are computed from the model of the parallel manipulator assuming that it is subject to only the gravitational force and no friction exists. In the actual operation where friction exists, the control inputs, which correspond to the friction forces, are obtained by forcing the actual joint variables to follow these trojectories by proper control. It is shown that control performance can be improved when the friction compensation based on this information is added to the controller for position control of the moving plate of a parallel manipulator.

  • This paper presents a new control approach of DSTATCOM (distribution static compensator) for compensation of reactive power, unbalanced loading and harmonic currents under unbalanced non-sinusoidal ac mains. The control of DSTATCOM is achieved using Adaline based current estimator based on LMS algorithm to maintain source currents real and undistorted. The dc bus voltage of voltage source converter (VSC) working as DSTATCOM is maintained at constant voltage using a proportional-integral (PI) controller. The DSTATCOM system alongwith proposed control scheme is modeled in MATLAB to simulate the behavior of the system. The practical implementation of the DSTATCOM is carried out using dSPACE DS1104 R&D controller having TMS320F240 as a slave DSP. Simulated and implementation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the DSTATCOM with Adaline based control to meet the severe load perturbations with different types of loads (linear and non-linear) under distorted and unbalanced AC mains.

  • A fixed amount compensator is proposed for a process with a linear tool wear function. A Cost model is constructed which involve process adjustment cost and quality loss. Symmetric and asymmetric quadratic functions of the deviation of a quality measurement from the nominal target value are considered as the quality loss functions. Methods of finding optimal values of initial setting and compensation limit are presented and a numerical example is given.
