  • Internet of Things (IoT) networks composed of a large number of sensors and actuators generate a huge volume of data and control commands, which should be enforced by strong data reliability. The end-to-end data reliability of IoT networks is an essential industrial enabler. Blockchain technology can provide strong data reliability and integrity within IoT networks. We designed a lightweight end-to-end blockchain network that applies to common IoT applications. Its enhanced modular architecture and lightweight consensus mechanism guarantee its practical applicability for general IoT applications. In addition, the proposed blockchain network is highly software compatible because it adopts the Hyperledger development environment. Directly embedding the proposed blockchain middleware platform in small computing devices proves its practicability.

  • As the IoT market continues to grow, security threats to IoT devices with limited resources are also increasing. However, the application of security technology to the existing system to IoT devices with limited resources is impossible due to the inherent characteristics of IoT devices. Various methods for solving related problems have been studied in existing studies to solve this problem. Therefore, this study analyzes the characteristics of domestic IoT authentication standards and existing research to propose an algorithm that applies blockchain-based authentication and lightweight encryption algorithms to IoT equipment with limited resources. In this study, a key generation method was applied using a Lamport hash-chain and data integrity between IoT devices were provided using a Merkle Tree, and an LEA encryption algorithm was applied using confidentiality in data communication. In the experiment, it was verified that the efficiency is high when the LEA encryption algorithm, which is a lightweight encryption algorithm, is applied to IoT devices with limited resources.

  • Various devices, which are powerful computer and low-performance sensors, is connected to IoT network. Accordingly, applying mutual authentication for devices and data encryption method are essential since illegal attacks are existing on the network. But cryptographic methods such as symmetric key and public key algorithms, hash function are not appropriate to low-performance devices. Therefore, this paper proposes blockchain-based lightweight IoT mutual authentication protocol for the low-performance devices.

  • As natural language processing technology using machine learning develops, a Smart Home Network Service (SHNS) is drawing attention again. However, it is difficult to apply a standardized authentication scheme for SHNS because of the diversity of components and the variability of users. Blockchain is proposed for data authentication in a distributed environment. But there is a limit to applying it to SHNS due to the computational overhead required when implementing a proof-of-work system. In this paper, a lightweight work proof system is proposed. The proposed lightweight proof-of-work system is proposed to manage block generation by controlling the work authority of the device. In addition, this paper proposes an access control scheme for SHNS.

  • Researches on Post-quantum blockchain, which is a synthesis of blockchain and post-quantum cryptography[1], are relatively unrevealed areas but have needs to be studied with the regard to the quantum computers. However there could be several fundamental problems, e.g. unsustainably large size of public key and signature, or too lengthy time for sign and verification, if any post-quantum cryptography is adopted to the existing blockchain to implement post-quantum blockchain. Thus, a new method was proposed in this paper that produces fixed length of references for massive signatures and corresponding public keys to enable relatively lightweight transactions. This paper proposed the mechanism that included a new transaction structure and protocols, and demonstrated a post-quantum blockchain that the proposed mechanism was adopted. Through this research, it could enhance compatibility of blockchain regarding post-quantum digital signature, possibly reducing weights of the whole blockchain.

  • Modern supply chains include multiple activities from collecting raw materials to transferring final products. These activities involve many parties who share a huge amount of valuable data, which makes managing supply chain systems a challenging task. Current supply chain management (SCM) systems adopt digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain for optimization purposes. Although these technologies can significantly enhance SCM systems, they have their own limitations that directly affect SCM systems. Security, performance, and scalability are essential components of SCM systems. Yet, confidentiality and scalability are one of blockchain's main limitations. Moreover, IoT devices are lightweight and have limited power and storage. These limitations should be considered when developing blockchain-based IoT-SCM systems. In this paper, the requirements of efficient supply chain systems are analyzed and the role of both IoT and blockchain technologies in providing each requirement are discussed. The limitations of blockchain and the challenges of IoT integration are investigated. The limitations of current literature in the same field are identified, and a secure and scalable blockchain-based IoT-SCM system is proposed. The proposed solution employs a Hyperledger fabric blockchain platform and tackles confidentiality by implementing private data collection to achieve confidentiality without decreasing performance. Moreover, the proposed framework integrates IoT data to stream live data without consuming its limited resources and implements a dualstorge model to support supply chain scalability. The proposed framework is evaluated in terms of security, throughput, and latency. The results demonstrate that the proposed framework maintains confidentiality, integrity, and availability of on-chain and off-chain supply chain data. It achieved better performance through 31.2% and 18% increases in read operation throughput and write operation throughput, respectively. Furthermore, it decreased the write operation latency by 83.3%.

  • In the IoT(Internet of Things) environment, various devices are utilized and applied for different sites. But attackers can access easy to IoT systems, and try to operate DDoS(Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks. In this paper, Sensor nodes, Cluster heads, and Gateways operates lightweight mutual authentication each others. Since authenticated sensor nodes and cluster heads only send transactions to Gateways, proposed techniques prevent DDoS attacks. In addition, the blockchain system contains secure keys to decrypt data from sensor nodes. Therefore, attackers can not decrypt the data even if the data is eavesdropped.

  • The Tactile Internet technology is considered as the evolution of the internet of things. It will enable real time applications in all fields like remote surgery. It requires extra low latency which must not exceed 1ms, high availability, reliability and strong security system. Since it appearance in 2014, tremendous efforts have been made to ensure authentication between sensors, actuators and servers to secure many applications such as remote surgery. This human to machine relationship is very critical due to its dependence of the human live, the communication between the surgeon who performs the remote surgery and the robot arms, as a tactile internet actor, should be fully and end to end protected during the surgery. Thus, a secure mutual user authentication framework has to be implemented in order to ensure security without influencing latency. The existing methods of authentication require server to stock and exchange data between the tactile internet entities, which does not only make the proposed systems vulnerables to the SPOF (Single Point of Failure), but also impact negatively on the latency time. To address these issues, we propose a lightweight authentication protocol for remote surgery in a Tactile Internet environment, which is composed of a decentralized blockchain and physically unclonable functions. Finally, performances evaluation illustrate that our proposed solution ensures security, latency and reliability.

  • Recently, various convergence technologies are attracting attention due to the block chain innovation technology in the M2M environment. Although the block-chain-based technology is known to be secure in its own right, there are various problems such as security and weight reduction in various M2M environments connected with this. In this paper, we propose a new lightweight method for the hash tree generation of block chains to solve the lightweight problem. It is designed considering extensibility without affecting the existing block chain. Performance analysis shows that the computation performance increases with decreasing the existing hash length.
