  • Running train is one of the most main factor for railway bridge vibration. The repeated forces with equidistant axles cause the magnification of dynamic responses which relates with maintenance of the track structure and structure-borne noises. The noise problem is one of the most important issues in services of light rail transit system which usually passes through towns. The noise of railway bridges can be divided into the noise from track-vehicle system and structure-borne noises. In the present study, The vibration and noise of the LRT bridge will be investigated with utilizing dynamics responses from moving train as input data for noise analysis.

  • Light Flickering of the lamp(fluorescent lamp) with voltage fluctuation operates as an factor harmful to train passengers which is subjective to them. Recently, international flickering standard(IEC61000-3-3) are applied all over the world. However, there are not any study preparing for regulation about light flickering inside running train. In this study, the Flicker phenomenon is investigated from several references and also how the flickermeter is configured and defined. Flicker evaluation using it are studied.

  • A number of variables and environment are concerned for the basic design of train. The design of train ran be optimized by the ruining simulation. And using the simulation result the consuming energy, regenerating power, adhesion coefficient, train traction control capacity are respectable. Considering these variables and for more information operating time, operating period, standard velocity and limit speed, the all factors of train are optimized. The light-tail tram is mainly divided into linear motor train, road surface train, iron wheel train and rubber tire train, and the most profitable one for adhesion coefficient is rubber tire train and the train will be designed.

  • The VAL 208 in Uijeongbu Light Rail system is a light railway vehicle which could be operated in driverless supported by Siemens. It is a Rubber Wheel Type AGT (Automatic Guideway Transit). It will be operated in two car train about 11km of Uijeongbu line. In this paper, the technical overview of the ATC system and the interface between the system and the way side control equipments are presented. It includes the main functions of OBCU(On Board control Unit) and its information sharing method with WCU(Way side control Unit). The testing procedure of OBCU is also discussed.

  • Dynamic model of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. various load and boundary conditions between vehicle and infrastructures(running track. guidance rail) were defined to analyze vehicular dynamic behaviors occurred by inclement weather(strong wind and earthquake). The dynamic analysis were performed by using a commercialized software RecurDyn. whose results for the magnitudes of wind and earthquake showed the resultant forces and accelerations between car body and bogie, or bogie guidance frame and infrastructures in the various track conditions(straight or curved tracks) and train velocities. Based on these results, speed limitation of tile vehicle were proposed to ensure system stability and passengers safety.

  • For maintaining railroad, accumulated passing tonnage is a determinant factor of appropriate rail replacement time. Recently, Seoul Metro's rail maintaining system and technology is being improved from previous years, which increasing a standard of rail replacement. Thus, this brings importance of estimating and managing for accumulated passing tonnage. In case of light weighted train such as subway, current method of calculating accumulated passing tonnage has defaults of misrepresenting accumulated passing tonnage data. Because current method is based on the weight of passengers and train., and operation data. In addition, currently there is no mechanical and electronic system that could represent and support the accurate data between heavy and non-heavy traffic area, and accumulated passing tonnage is calculated inaccurately by estimating average value each line. The current method of calculating accumulated passing tonnage misleads to unpredictable data that represent inappropriate rail replacement period, which leads to under or over analyzed replacement period. If accumulated passing tonnage is over estimated, rail replacement leads to waste of budget. Hence, it is necessary to construct reliable actual measurement system to manage rail's life safely and efficiently, and in this study the accumulated passing tonnage measurement device is installed with using rail pad of optical fiber sensors and its effect is analyzed.

  • Internal and external railway management corporations are using the periodic replacement criteria of rail by accumulated passing tonnage and wear to maintain rails for servicing. However, internal the periodic replacement criteria of continuous welded rail(CWR) by accumulated passing tonnage is the one(50kg/m-5 million gross tonnage, 60kg/m-6 million gross tonnage) presented in Japan before. It was estimated with the fatigue life about 50kg N rail joints applied diesel train load but it wasn't applied to current conditions of track; elimination of rail joint, using the concrete slab track and operation of light train load and effect of welding, manufacturing technique, grinding of rail. Therefore, in this study, it was investigated the types of damage and cause in welded rails and examined standards and information resources. Also, this study presents preliminary data to revise the periodic replacement criteria of CWR by current accumulated passing tonnage in bending test of laid welded rail and a survey of track maintenance history of Seoul metro.

  • In the electric railway systems, it is very important that we should design the system configuration, location and power capacity of substation. This paper presents the results of system configuration and system design of the DC traction power supply for the test line of Light Rail Vehicle. The voltage fluctuation of train and the power capacity of substation are calculated by computer simulation using the nodal equation, K.C.L/K.V.L, Ohm's law and superposition theory.

  • This paper describes the capacity calculation of power supply system for light Rail Transit Three factors are considered for the design i.e. substation arrangements, line configuration and substation power capacity. In this study, we considered all of them for capacity calculation of power supply system for LRT. At first DC-fed-traction system is introduced on an outline, a characteristics of train and fed network, and design method of substation arrangements. Optimal design procedures are described, and program for capacity calculation of the system is presented. In addition, the computer simulated results are computed with the conventional simple calculation method.

  • This paper proposes the track layout criterion for the LRT(light rail transit). All criterions established concerning dimension and performance of LRT vehicles that are three types. Types of vehices are AGT(automated guided train) steel wheel. AGT rubber tire and LIM(linear induction motor). Using theoritical approach, adaptation and validity of criterions are verified. Proposed criterions may provide a standard scheme for design and construction of the infrastructure on LRT.
