  • The purpose of this study was conducted to investigate the influencing factors on foreign workers's work-life balance and provide guidelines for interventions and strategies to increase work-life balance in foreign workers. This study was a secondary data analysis from the $4^{th}$ Korean Working Conditions Survey(KWCS). The sample included 179 foreign workers. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22 and AMOS 22. As a results, the hypothetical path model was a good fit. In the path analysis, health status, social support, work time, job satisfaction had statistically significant effects on foreign workers's work-life balance and these variables explained 24.9% of work-life balance. These results reveal the predictors of work-life balance in foreign workers. Therefore, we need the active support for work-life balance predictors.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose and to test a predictive model that could explain the workers' quality of life. Methods: Data were collected using self-report questionnaires from 901 workers in Daejeon, Korea. The questionnaires included nine measured variables (safety culture, self-efficacy, activity of occupational health provider, knowledge in occupational health, age, health promotion behavior, workplace environment, health level, and quality of life), as revised PRECEDE model has suggested. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 15 and AMOS 6.01 version. Results: Based on the constructed model, behavior, environment, and health were found to have significant direct effect on quality of life. Indirect factors were perceived biological, predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling. The proposed model was concise and extensive in predicting quality of life of the participants. The final modified model yielded GFI=.85, AGFI=.89, NFI=.79, and RMSEA=.11 and exhibited good fit indices. Conclusion: Findings of this study may contribute to development of effective nursing interventions for promoting quality of life in workers.

  • Purpose: In Korea, as the number of hypertensive worker grows, identifying the level of health promoting life style practice and related factors in hypertensive workers is becoming more and more important. Method: The subjects of this study were 195 hypertensive male workers in Korea. The data was collected during 3 months ranging from August 2003 to October 2003. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics. t-test, ANOVA. Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression by SAS 8.1 program. Results: It was found that there were significant differences between age, religion, medication, perceived health status, perceived benefits, internal health locus of control, powerful other health locus of control and health promoting life style practice. The most significant factor affecting the health promoting life style practice was internal health locus of control. The combination of internal health locus of control, specific self-efficacy, powerful other health locus of control, general self-efficacy accounted for 51.0% of the health promoting life style practice. Conclusion: The level of health promoting life style practice was very low, so it is urgent to manage and care for hypertensive male workers continuously and systemically with occupational health nurses. Based on the above results, cognitive perceptual characteristics should be considered when developing health education programs for hypertensive workers.

  • This research was carried out to provide the basic informations for the study of the occupational socialization process of rural development workers. Until now in a study of rural development workers, the study about the socialization process, which is to study the whole change during the life, has not been sufficient. The occupational socialization process of rural development workers may be considered both a process from life as a pre-rural development workers to life as a rural development worker and a process of retirement or resigination as a rural development worker. The socialization process of rural development workers in general is presumed as the five steps. Each theme word corresponding to the cultural characters in each step is as following. (1) Expectation toward Uncertainty: Step before Life of Employing (2) Extra-Passion and Trial and Error: Step for Adapting the Working Life (3) Swimming: Step of Dissension and Desperation (4) Sinking or Avoiding Dissension: Step of Stability and Stagnation (5) Emptying a Lonely Mind: Step of Professional Inactivity and Retirement The five steps appear mixedly and irregularly. At each step, rural development workers can feel the sense of fruitage and dignity (a naive compensatory mind) despite appearance intermittent and unclear.

  • Objectives: The objectives of this study were to investigate female labor workers' occupational stress and musculoskeletal symptoms and to identify the effects of their occupational stress and musculoskeletal symptoms on their health-related quality of life. Methods: A survey was conducted through direct interviews using a musculoskeletal symptoms questionnaire, the Korean Occupational Stress Scale(KOSS), and the Short-Form 36-Item Health Survey(SF-36). Subjects were 112 female labor workers in three factories in D city who were selected by convenience sampling. Results: Factors significantly affecting health-related quality of life were found to be: occupational stress(${\beta}$=-.36); degree of pain, with medium pain(${\beta}$=-.31) and extremely severe pain(${\beta}$=-.24); duration of pain, with more than 1 week-less than 1 month(${\beta}$=-.25) and more than 6 months(${\beta}$=-.16); frequency of pain, with once per 2-3 months(${\beta}$=-.22); responses to pain such as medical leave, use of worker's compensation insurance, task change, etc.(${\beta}$=-.16), and Slightly difficult(${\beta}$=-.16) versus Not hard at all. These variables demonstrated that health-related quality of life is 48%(F=11.72, p<.001) in female workers. Conclusions: To improve female labor workers' health-related quality of life based on the above results, occupational health managers should reduce the workers' occupational stress, develop and apply health interventions regarding musculoskeletal symptoms, prevent the early onset of musculoskeletal symptoms, and protect and promote the workers' health.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the subjective oral health awareness, oral health knowledge, oral health behavior and OHIP-14 in industrial workers. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 243 workers in Jeonbuk May 7 to June 10, 2014. Except incomplete answers, 230 data were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects(sex, age, career, marital status, abd family), oral health recognition characteristics(oral health attention, subjective oral health status, and oral health concern), oral health knowledge, oral health behavior, and oral health related quality of life. The instrument was 14 questions od OHIP-14 including functional restriction(2 questions), physical pain(2 questions), psychological discomfort(2 questions), physical ability decease(2 questions), psychological function decease(2 questions), social activity decrease (2 questions), and social discomfort(2 questions). Cronbach's alpha was 0.949 in this study and it was reliable. Results: Oral health interests showed that 57.8% of the workers had concern for oral health interests and 50.4% perceived that their subjective oral health was moderate status. 55.6% of the workers answered that their oral health status was very worried. Women had more knowledge about the oral health. Those who were in fifties tended to have more knowledge of oral health than the other age groups. Those who had more concern for oral health included female workers, married workers, and workers above 21 years. The concern for oral health made the workers keep good oral health. Higher score of OHIP-14 means good oral health. Conclusions: Good oral health-related quality of life is proportional to continuous management of oral health and subjective oral health status. It is necessary to develop the tailored oral health education program for the workers.
