전과정평가 도입을 통한 농업환경영향 평가 (Environmental Impact Assessment of Agricultural Systems Using the Life Cycle Assessment)

  • 전 세계적으로 지구온난화의 원인인 대기 중 온실가스 농도를 감축하는 여러 정책들이 모든 산업을 망라하여 추진되고 있다. 식량안보라는 특수성은 있지만, 농업도 예외는 아니다. 이런 취지에서 최근에 농산물의 전체 생산과정에서 발생하는 탄소배출량을 산정하고, 이를 토대로 탄소배출량이 적은 농산물 생산방식을 도입하고자 하는 요구가 증가하고 있다. LCA 도구를 농업분야의 환경평가에 적용한 해외 연구 사례들을 살펴보면, 스위스는 Ecoinvent가 주축이 되어 농작물, 농업기반시설, 농자재, 농기계 등 농축산 전반에 대한 LCI D/B를 구축하여 제공하고 있고, 우리와 농업시스템이 유사한 일본은 산업연관분석을 이용하여 농업을 위한 Top-down 방식의 LCA 수행 방법론을 개발하였으며, 이를 농작물 생산 방식에 따라 평가하고 농업분야에 대한 영향평가 방법론과 가중치를 개발하였다. 반면에 국내의 LCA를 통한 농업환경영향평가는 출발 단계에 있다. 따라서 농업환경에 있어 주요 인자인 비료 및 농약에 대한 환경영향을 평가하고 이를 위한 국내 비료와 농약의 흐름 모델링, 방법론 개발이 요구되며, 국내 농업 시스템을 반영한 기타 농자재, 농기계 및 농업기반시설에 대한 환경영향평가 역시 수행되어야 한다.

  • This study aims to presents Evaluation Method of Green Remodeling that analyze the value of environment through expense, using the method of life cycle cost and life cycle assessment simultaneously. The results of this study are summarized as follows. Evaluation Model developed in this study can convert economical value of environment into cost by integrating. In addition, the model can apply as a useful tool to estimation of economical design alternative as well as quantification of environmental loads and costs. Evaluation Model presented In this study observe energy consumption and the environmental load emission with qualification, it can forecast effect of environmental cost that cost estimation is expected to be added to energy cost rate by being possible. Synthetically, when Estimation Model and computer program that developed in this study is applies to the construction industry; reasonable management of environmental load is convenient at each step of Green Remodeling. In addition, at preliminary design phase, practical use may be possible by reasonable yardstick about various alternatives and improvement of design alternatives likewise by grasping environmental effect.

초기 설계단계의 가용정보를 활용한 도로 배수공종의 LCA기반 환경부하량 산정모델 (LCA Based Environmental Load Estimation Model for Road Drainage Work Using Available Information in the Initial Design Stage)

  • 기후변화에 대한 우려가 커지면서 건설산업에서도 환경부하를 줄이기 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있으며, 환경부하를 산정하기 위한 효과적인 방법론으로써 LCA (life cycle assessment)가 제시되고 있다. 그러나, LCA는 환경부하량 산정을 위해 작업에 투입되는 자원량에 대한 정보가 필요하기 때문에 이러한 정보의 확보가 어려운 초기 설계단계의 환경적 검토에는 활용되지 못하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 도로의 배수시설물을 대상으로 표준단면에 기반한 작업물량산출체계를 개발하고 환경부하량을 산출할 수 있는 모델에 활용하였다. 이 모델은 초기 설계단계의 가용정보만으로 LCA에 필요한 자원량을 산정함으로써 환경부하량을 산출할 수 있다. 모델의 유효성을 검증하기 위해 5개의 검증사례를 적용하였으며 원단위추정모델 및 회귀모델과 비교하였다. 그 결과 평균 9.94%의 절대오차율평균을 나타내 다른 모델보다 상대적으로 정확하며 초기 설계단계에서 사용할 수 있는 유효한 모델이라는 점이 확인되었다.

  • International cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is expected to provide a big crisis and a great opportunity at the same time for our industry that heavily consumes energy. To cope actively with the international environmental regulation, such as the Framework Convention on Climate Change, quantitative measurement of the volume of greenhouse gases emitted by various industries and quantitative prediction of the greenhouse gas emissions of the future are becoming more important than anything else at the national level. This study aims to propose the calculation process of carbon dioxide($CO_2$) emission for building in life cycle. This paper describes and compares 9 different tool for environmental load estimation with LCA. This study proposed the calculation process for quantitatively predicting and assessing $CO_2$ emissions during the life cycle of buildings based on the life cycle assessment(LCA). The life cycle steps of buildings were divided into the design/supervision, new construction, repair, renovation, use of operating energy in buildings, maintenance, and reconstruction stage in the life cycle inventory analysis and the method of assessing the environmental load in each stage was proposed.

전과정평가 방법에 의한 외끌이 대형기선저인망 어업의 온실 가스 배출량의 정량적 분석 (A Quantitative Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the Danish Seine Fishery using Life Cycle Assessment)

  • The fishing industry has a negative effect on the environment due to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with the high use of fossil fuels, the destruction of underwater ecosystems by bottom trawls, reduction in resources by fishing, and altered ecosystem diversity. GHG emissions from fisheries were discussed at the Canc$\acute{u}$n meeting in Mexico in 1992 and are part of the Kyoto protocol in 2005. However, few studies have investigated the GHG emissions from Korean fisheries. To find a way to reduce GHG emissions from fisheries, quantitative analysis of GHG emissions from the Korean fishery industry is needed. Therefore, this study investigated the GHG emissions from the Korean Danish seine fishery using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method. The system boundary and input parameters for each process level are defined for the LCA analysis. The fuel-use coefficient of the fishery is also calculated. The GHG emissions from the representative fish caught by the Danish seine fishery are considered and the GHG emissions for the edible weight of fishes are calculated, considering consumption in different areas and different slaughtering processes. The results will help to understand the GHG emissions from Korean fisheries.

환경비용을 고려한 공공시설물의 환경경제성 평가 -국내 다목적댐 비상여수로 시설 사례연구 - (The Economic Efficiency Assessment of Infrastructure considering Environmental Cost - A Case Study of Emergency Spillway for Korean Multipurpose Dam -)

  • 본 연구는 LCA(Life Cycle Assessment, 전과정평가) 개념을 바탕으로 공공 시설물의 환경성 및 경제성 평가를 위한 의사 결정시 유용한 정보를 제공하기 위하여 사례대상으로 선정된 다목적댐 비상여수로의 위치 및 형식별로 발생 가능한 환경오염물질에 대한 환경 비용을 예측하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 LCA 기 법 및 조건부가치측정 법(Contingent Valuation Method, CVM)의 이론을 고찰하고, 환경 비용 분석모델을 제안하였다. 제안된 공공시설물 환경비용 분석모델을 사례대상인 다목적 댐 비상여수로에 적용하기 위해 전과정 동안 발생하는 환경오염물질에 대한 환경부하량을 산출하고, 이를 비용으로 환산하여 환경비용을 예측하였고, 예측결과를 통하여 비상여수로의 환경경제성을 평가하고 친환경적이고 경제적 인 치적대안을 도출하였다.

생태도시 조성을 위한 통합폐기물 관리방안 - 전과정평가(LCA) 기법의 응용 - (Integrated Solid Waste Management in Ecopolis -Applying LCA-)

  • Applicability of LCA in establishing the integrated solid waste management were examined. Data were collected from current waste management system. LCA method was then applied to find environmentally sustainable waste management. The process comprises five steps : (1) collecting data, comparing the data with comprehensive urban planning as well, (2) analyzing the current waste treatment procedure leading to the database establishment, (3) LCA for the waste management system, (4) finding alternative scenarios based on the former steps, (5) establishing the optimum method in Ecopolis, best fitted to the local situation. The results and suggestions in this study are expected to yield comprehensive analysis as to current practices in waste management. More importantly it will be a valuable data in minimizing environmental burdens in connecting with living environments of Ecopolis. Information regarding the urban system and total environmental quality are expected from this study.

  • The life cycle assessment method for environmental impact assessment was used, in this study, to assess the production process of wheat flour which is the most important material in the food industry. Environmental impact assessments were compared between that of the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea (method I) with that of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (method II). Life cycle inventories (LCI) was performed using internal and external databases and the production statistics database of company S. The procedure of life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) was followed in terms of classification, characterization, normalization and weighting to identify the key issues. The impact categories of method I were divided into 8 categories with consideration of : abiotic resources depletion, global warming, ozone depletion, photochemical oxidant creation, acidification and eutrophication. The impact categories of method II were divided into 10 categories with consideration of: abiotic resources depletion, global warming, ozone depletion, photochemical oxidant creation, acidification, eutrophication, human toxicity, freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity, marine aquatic ecotoxicity and terrestrial ecotoxicity.

  • The negative fishery factors from an environmental perspective are greenhouse gas emissions due to high fossil fuel use, destruction of underwater ecosystems by bottom trawls, a reduction in resources by fishing, and damage to ecosystem diversity. In particular, the greenhouse gas emissions from fisheries is an important issue based on the Cancun meeting in Mexico in 1992 and the Kyoto protocol in 2005. However, no investigations on the GHG emissions from Korean fisheries have been conducted. Therefore, a quantitative analysis of GHG emissions from the Korean fishery industry is needed as a first step to identify a method to reduce GHG emissions from fisheries. The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of GHG emitted from fisheries. Here, we calculated the GHG emissions from four main Korean fisheries(i.e., large trawls, large purse seines, Danish seines, and bottom pair trawls) using the life cycle assessment(LCA) method. The system boundary and input parameters for each process level were defined for LCA analysis. The fuel use coefficient of each fishery was also calculated. The GHG emissions from edible seafood were calculated considering different consuming areas. The results will be helpful to understand GHG emissions from Korean fisheries.

  • Due to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) environmental regulations on NOx and SOx, LNG-fueled eco-friendly ships are gaining attention worldwide, and various eco-friendly ships are being proposed and demanded for conversion to eco-friendly ships in Korea, as the eco-friendly ship law has recently been enforced. In this study, the initial basic design was performed to convert an existing Marine Gas Oil (MGO) fueled ship into an LNG-DF propulsion ship, targeting medium-sized ship, to select the fuel tank capacity and main dimensions and appropriate fuel ratio between the two fuels. In particular, Sustainable basic design method considering environmental impact were proposed by performing a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) throughout the design process, and various design options were compared and analyzed to meet different design conditions by applying them.
