공공도서관의 공간구성과 복합화 유형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Typology of Mixing Activities and Space Organization in Public Library Buildings)

  • The purpose of this study is, According to society changing fast, human life is changing in the direction of complexity and variety, the middle class and multiple structure have been generated in relation between architecture and function. Accordingly, considering the analyzed elements of the main floor space planning and relation of the factors in space planning of Seoul s public libraries. The Public Library is variety of function is abstracted to the plan for Space Composition Form from future public library, analysis of “This point of user, how to composition is the space of different function” and “How to is the connection between the educational function and the other function, complexity of space.” With above distinctive themes and the research, the typology of public library in seoul city, At the first, the research shows that the public library is 8 type, and high in typology of “TYPE 7 (A3-B2-Cl)”. Secondary, There appears public library, such as in the satisfaction of the One-Function-User is high in “TYPE 3 (A1-B2-C3)”, in the satisfaction over the Two-Function-User is high in “TYPE 6 (A3-B1-C1)”

공공도서관 디지털자료실의 공간계획요소별 디자인특성 연구 (A Study on the Design Characteristics of Multimedia Center in Public Library by Space Planning Elements)

  • A public library is changing into a place where people can freely acquire and make use of information in digital environment with the basic ideology of publicity. In spite of such changes, multimedia center is still biased with the function of computer room to use PC and is not used actively by many users. This study can be summarized and concluded as follows and spatial characteristics of digital data room of public library can make use of space planning elements by aspects as an analysis tool. First, designed characteristics focusing too much on the possession of seats for reading digital data. Therefore, spatial planning for users to choose necessary facilities according to the data they wish to read and type of users is needed. Second, interior tone of multimedia center is applied with identical color for all floors, walls, and ceilings, to create sense of unification. However, due to the arrangement of similar colors, while using identical brightness and chroma, some users felt difficult to realize shape or depth in space. It is more appropriate to apply distinctive color plan according to the characteristic of the data or space region, in order to create pleasant digital environment for visually weaker people or elderly. Third, psychological or technical factors of multimedia center is not sufficiently applied in space planning elements for users. In order for various digital service of public library to be technically implemented, it is necessary to organize open space by expanding the size of multimedia center to utilize high-tech facilities.

법학전문도서관 디자인 특성 및 공간구성방법에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Law School Library Design Feature & Spatial Composition)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 법학전문도서관의 기존사례 분석을 통하여 공간구성 특성을 조사, 규정하고 교육이념에 부응하는 법학전문도서관 특성을 반영한 계획안의 제시함으로서 법학전문도서관의 계획요소 및 디자인을 제안하고자 하였다. 법학도서관의 공간구성특성을 요약하면 (1) 접근성을 고려한 진입층의 공간구성 (2) 열람공간 이용자 중심의 열람실 공간구성 (3) 교육 및 연구 공간과 열람실의 연계성을 고려한 공간 구성으로 법학도서관의 특성을 규정할 수 있다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 한 법학도서관 설계 시 다음과 같은 디자인 쟁점사항을 도출하였다. 진입층 공간구성은 교육의 장소로서의 이용행태, 접근성과 연계성의 측면을 고려하여 공용공간과 함께 열람공간을 계획하여야 한다. 이용자 중심의 열람실과 서고의 공간구성이 계획되기 위한 방법으로는 일반열람실 또는 지정 도서실이 진입공간과 직접 연계되는 계획이 이루어 져야 된다. 교육 및 연구 공간과 열람실이 유기적으로 연결되어야 함에 따라서 코어를 중심으로 교육 및 연구 공간과 열람실을 수직적으로 연계하여 열람실과 교육 연구 공간의 연계성을 높이는 동시에 외부에서의 접근성도 고려한 계획이 되어야한다.

대학도서관 열람실 공간기준에 관한 연구 (Study on the Spatial Standard for Reading Rooms in University Libraries)

  • This research aims to establish the size standard of university library's user space, and present the standard and method to calculate total area required in the planning of new building construction and remodeling. Nine university libraries newly constructed or remodeled since 2000 were selected among the libraries of large scale universities with more than 10,000 enrolled students as the target libraries in this research. The target libraries were classified into A group (five cases partially remodeled) and B group (four cases newly constructed or fully remodeled) on the basis of the change of times. A university library can be divided into three spaces (user space, administration space and public space). This research classified the reading room in the user space into bookshelf zone, reading zone, information/office zone and hall/other zone, and analyzed area ratio according to each zone. B group's bookshelf zone decreased 12% more than A group, and B group's reading zone increased 10% more than A group. However, there was no big change in the area ratio of information/office zone and hall/other zone. This can be interpreted that university library changes from book and archive preservation-oriented space to user-oriented space. This research presented a proper reading room area calculation method, based on the capacity of books, by reflecting such a change. Each zone's standard was set up through classification of domestic and international standards, based on which, the calculation method of university library's total floor area required was presented. The reason why there was difference in university library's total floor area required according to domestic standard and international standard was that the number of enrolled students per seat in the reading room was different. The area calculation methods presented in this research can be utilized as useful data upon planning university library construction or remodeling.

어린이 도서관의 공간계획에 관한 연구: 어린이의 연령 단계별 공간이용 실태를 중심으로 (A Study on Spatial Planning of Children's Library: Focused on the Aspect of Space Use According to the Age Step of Children)

  • 본 연구는 다양한 연령층의 이용자를 서비스대상으로 하는 어린이 도서관 및 어린이실의 공간계획을 위한 기초적 데이터를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 체류자 점유조사와 행동관찰조사를 통하여 서로 다른 공간유형을 갖는 4개의 어린이실의 어린이와 동반가족을 대상으로 데이터를 수집하여 이를 공간구성의 특성에 비추어 분석하는 방법을 사용하였다. 조사 결과를 크게 다섯 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 도서관의 입지 조건과 이용자 속성이 어린이실 면적 규모를 결정하는데 영향을 미치고 있었다. 둘째, 어린이실에는 어린이 이외의 다양한 연령층이 이용하고 있었다. 셋째, 어린이는 연령 단계별로 서로 다른 행동 패턴을 나타내고 있었다. 넷째, 각 영역별로 다양한 독서환경을 조성할 필요가 있다. 다섯째 가족, 형제 및 친구와 같은 그룹 이용과 단독 이용에 의해 선택되어지는 체류 장소에서 주로 보이는 행위의 내용과 공간 및 가구의 특성을 공간계획을 위한 키워드로 정리하여 제시하였다.

  • This study aims to provide architectural basis of the new space planning in university library and anticipate direction in future. This study is to analyze the spatial transition in the existing facility, based on field observation of the domestic university library and on theoretical data from the related article. The result that include a transition of the existing facility and the present is as following as below. 1) Spatial transitions by networking are making specific system room. The minimum area of this specific system room is 33.95$m^2$. 2) Spatial transition by information service is forming computer room. the minimum area of a environmental carrel, which is possibly located to computer room, is 2.98~3.42$m^2$. 3) Spatial transition by spreading multimedia information is to make the multimedia information is to make the multimedia room. It is necessary to independent, flexibility, and extensionable space. 4) Library interior spatial transition by developing information technology is prospected that in case of reading room, office enlarge the scale, in case of stack decrease the scale. The university library must be kept up their function and also be functioned as electronic library which serve new information.

공공도서관의 실내공간특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Spatial Characteristics of Public Library)

  • As library have become changed. Beyond conventional simple functions such as data storing and recording, the functions of modern public libraries are expended to various directions, for example functions of encouraging residents to utilize information and participate in cultural activities and also a function of life-long education, resulting in playing a role as complex space. As the role of public libraries changes into a complex one, spatial planning reflecting this change is required. Spatial arrangements, furniture arrangements and interior images in 12 public libraries in Seoul were analyzed. As a result of the study, it was found that in spatial arrangements, many public libraries linked spaces by functions. Furniture arrangements have been changing from the closed arrangement to the open arrangement. Interior images were identified as static and simple except digital information space. Accordingly, public libraries have became needed to play a proper role of community facilities for local residents by planning furniture arrangements and conducting interior designs taking characteristics of many different users into consideration.

어린이 도서관에 있어서 바닥 난방시스템의 지원성 (The Affordance of the Floor Heating System in Children's Libraries)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how the floor heating system is affecting to users in childeren's libraries. This study included the method that extracts the affordance of the floor heating system, after surveyed using behavior in children's libraries and referred to J. J. Gibson's affordance and surface concepts. As the positive affordance, it was grasped that the floor heating system promotes social relationships and affords various surfaces for library using, but also as the negative affordance, that hinders users in the public usings and the behaviors for reference and using. The behaviors of these various characters can be regarded as life behaviors resulted from the sitting life style and the natural using behavior can give to children emotional rest and autonomous reading experience. For the function as the children's library, the learning of sociality in the public building and the various reading space, the space planning of children's library should be done after the positive and negative affordances extracted from this study are reflected. The guidelines for space planning are summarized as the followings: the layout of book furniture, the shoe chest and the space around that, the furniture hight and children's eye level, and the practical using of the table for sitting life style.

정보공유공간(Information Commons)의 도입을 통한 학교도서관 공간 활용 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Utilization of School Library Space by the Introduction of Information Commons)

  • 학교도서관에서 공간의 의미는 학교도서관 이용자가 환경에 영향을 많이 받는 학생이라는 점을 고려할 때 여타 도서관에 비해 크다고 할 수 있다. 더구나, 공간의 규모가 충분하지 않은 국내 학교도서관의 현실을 고려할 때 공간의 효과적인 활용은 필수적이다. 이에 따라, 본 연구에서는 통합적 서비스 공간을 지향하는 Information Commons 개념의 도입을 통해 학교도서관 공간의 효과적인 활용방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 학교도서관은 도서관내 필수시설을 최소화하고 유연성 및 호환성을 확보함으로써 공간을 다양한 용도로 활용하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 인간중심 디자인과 개방성을 지향함으로써 학교 내 커뮤니티와 수업의 중심 기능을 수행할 필요가 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

어린이도서관에 있어서 이용자요구특성과 공간구성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Spatial Planning and the Characteristics of User's Need in the Children's Library)

  • This study investigates the mutual effects of the physical environment and the characteristics of user's need in the children's libraries of open plan type. The children's library as a flexible space should accept user's diverse needs. Especially, Children express more positive and diverse behaviors than adults in physical environment. As the design information obtained from observation of children's behaviors are put to architectural design, the more affluent environment in which children can do positive behaviors can be made. We used two research methods of the behavior observation and interview for the children's library, and could formulate various using actions through the behavior setting observation for using library. A relational description for reading environment in this study, based on the affordance and the behavior setting theories, provided us with rich accounts for the psychological and sociocultural resources in the children's library. Consequently, the following results can be summarized. First, children need territories for family use and for place and are using library effectively through taking the two territories. Second, the zoning according to age category should be done, as behavior patterns were observed differently according to age. Third, the space composition with openness should be designed, as children need social relation and learning through imitation and observation.
