$LiTaO_3$ 단결정의 결함 (Imperfections in $LiTaO_3$ Crystal)

  • The imperfections of LiTaO3 crystals grown from the Pt-Rh and the Ir crucible were investigated with X-ray diffraction, optical and electron microscope. The growth direction was <100>h and the plane parallel to the plane connecting two main growth ridges was (012)h which would be the main cleavage plane. The dislocation density in the specimen cut parallel to (012)h plane increased with polishing time and the inverted ferroelectric microdomains were induced based on this dislocations. Such imperfections as 180$^{\circ}$ domains, microcracks, dislocations and stacking faults. could be found in the LiTaO3 crytals. The crystal contaminated with lots of Rh form Pt-Rh crucible during the crystal growing under air atmosphere contained more imperfections. The main cleavage plane and subgrain boundary parallel to its growing axis might be the main source of reducing the mechnical strength during the wafering process.

  • LiTaO3 single crystals were growth without cracking using Pt-Rh crucible and Ir crucible. The starting composition to get the melt of congruent melting composition, which has been dependent upon the experimental procedure, was taken after fixing the total growing process by the result of preliminary experiments. The Rh contamination from the Pt-Rh crucible was to be neglected if the crystal had been grown under inert atmosphere, which resulted in the crystal color being slightly yellow. This color was decolored after 24 hour's annealing at 1200℃ under air atmosphere. The optimum conditions for the crystal growing and the diameter control were so dependent upon the crucible material in spite of using the crucible of the same size. The liquid-solid interface of LiTaO3 crystal of 1" diameter has been flat if the rotation speed was 45rpm.

  • Czochralski방법으로 성장된 정비조성 LiTaO$_3$ 단결정내에 불순물로 첨가되어 있는 Fe$^{3+}$ 이온에 대하여 상온에서 전자 상자성 공명(EPR : Electron Paramagnetic Resonance) 실험을 실행하였다. X-band(9.447 ㎓) 스펙트로미터를 사용하여 Fe$^{3+}$ 이온에 대한 공명 흡수선을 결정학적 주평면에서 시료를 돌려가면서 자기장을 가하여 각도의존 데이터를 얻었다. 이렇게 얻은 공명 자기장을 유효 스핀하밀토니안을 사용하여 분광학적 분리인자 g 및 영자기장 갈라지기(ZFS: Zero Field Splitting) 상수 b$_{2}$sup 0/ (=D)를 계산하였다. 분석결과 정비조성으로 성장시킨 LiTaO$_3$ 단결정에서 얻은 Fe$^{3+}$ 공명중심은 기존에 발표된 congruent 조성으로 성장시킨 단결정의 것과는 다른 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 Fe$^{3+}$ 이온에 관한 온도의존 공명 흡수선을 분석한 결과 실험 온도 구간에서는 LiTaO$_3$ 단결정의 어떠한 상변화도 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 본 연구에서는 온도에 따른 압전특성이 매우 안정적인 $LiTaO_3$ ($x-112^{\circ}$ y) 단결정을 이용하여 압전변압기를 제작하고 그 특성을 분석하였다. 제작시 $LiTaO_3$ 단결정의 변환효율이 낮은 단점을 보완하기 위해 Lame'-mode를 이용하여 길이와 폭의 비가 2:1인 압전변압기를 제작하고 PSpice를 이용하여 진동 모드 해석, 입력전압에 따른 출력전압특성 및 진동속도특성을 분석하였다. 제작한 압전변압기는 길이방향의 제 2차 고조파 주파수와 폭방향의 기본공진주파수가 결합된 290.83[kHz]에서 입력전압에 대한 최대출력전압이 나타났으며, 약 10배 정도의 승압비를 얻을 수 있었다.

Fe2O3첨가에 따른 (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)O3계 세라믹스의 압전 및 유전 특성 (Piezoelectric and Dielectric Properties of (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)O3 Ceramics as a Function of Fe2O3 Addition)

  • In this paper, in order to develop outstanding Pb-free composition ceramics, the $Fe_2O_3$-doped ($Na_{0.525}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037}$)($Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037}$)$O_3$ + 0.3 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ + x wt% $Fe_2O_3$ (x= 0~1.0 wt%)(abbreviated as NKL-NST) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics have been synthesized using the ordinary solid state reaction method. The effect of $Fe_2O_3$-doping on their microstructure and electrical properties were investigated. XRD diffraction pattern studies confirm that $Fe_2O_3$ completely diffused into the NKL-NST lattice to form a new stable soild solution with $Fe^{3+}$ entering the $Nb^{5+}$, $Sb^{5+}$ and $Ta^{5+}$ of B-site. And, phase structure of all the ceramics exhibited pure perovskite phase and no secondary phase was found in the ceramics. The ceramics doped with 0.6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ have the optimum values of piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient($k_p$) and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) : $d_{33}$ = 233 [pC/N], $k_p$= 0.44, $Q_m$= 95. These results indicate that the ($Na_{0.525}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037}$)($Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037}$)$O_3$ +0.3 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ + 0.6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ ceramic is a promising candidate for lead-free piezoelectric ceramics.

  • Dense $((Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{1-x}Li_x)(Nb_{0.8}Ta_{0.2})O_3$ ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. The electrical properties of $((Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{1-x}Li_x)(Nb_{0.8}Ta_{0.2})O_3$ ceramics were investigated as a function of Li substitution. When the sample sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 4 h with the Substitution of 2 mol% Li, electro-mechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) and piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) were found to reach the highest values of 0.42 and 210 pC/N, respectively.

  • 불순물을 이용한 비휘발성 홀로그램저장[1,2]은 기존의 열정착을 광정착으로 대치하는 방법으로서 여러 가지 희토류 혹은 전이금속이온을 첨가한 LiMbO$_3$ (LNO) 단결정 재료에서 시도되고 있다. 대표적인 재료로서 Mn,Fe:LNO 가 있으나 Mn,Ce:LNO, Cu,Co:LNO, Tb,Fe:LNO 등도 연구되고 있고 Stoichiometric LNO 경우엔 Pr:LNO, Er:LNO, Tb:LNO 등이 연구되고 있다. 그 외에 Mn:YAlO$_3$도 약하긴 하지만 비휘발성이 최근 보고되었다. (중략)

Investigation of Terahertz Generation from Bulk and Periodically Poled LiTaO3 Crystal with a Cherenkov Phase Matching Scheme

  • Terahertz (THz) wave generation from bulk and periodically poled $LiTaO_3$ (PPLT) with a Cherenkov phase matching scheme is numerically investigated. It is shown that by using the crystal birefringence of bulk $LiTaO_3$ and a grating vector of PPLT, THz waves can be efficiently generated by difference frequency generation (DFG) with a Cherenkov phase matching scheme. The frequency tuning characteristics of the THz wave via varying wavelength of difference frequency waves, phase matching angle, poling period of PPLT and working temperature are theoretically analyzed. The parametric gain coefficient in the low-loss limit and the absorption coefficient of the THz wave during the DFG process in the vicinity of polariton resonances are numerically analyzed. A THz wave can be efficiently generated by utilizing the giant second order nonlinearities of $LiTaO_3$ in the vicinity of polariton resonances.
