  • Experimental investigations were carried out to examine the heat and mass transfer characteristics of LiCl aqueous solution for a plate heat exchanger type dehumidifier. Cooling dehumidification was adopted vertical type heat exchanger. Also non woven fabric is attached surface of the heat exchanger for spreadability of LiCl aqueous solution. Mass flow-rate of LiCl aqueous solution and concentration were selected as experimental conditions. Also, In this study, the effects of relative humidity of process air and velocity were investigated experimentally. As a result of heat transfer coefficient and mass transfer coefficient of were increased film reynolds number increased. heat transfer coefficient and mass transfer coefficient of LiCl aqueous solution were 0.14~0.24 kW/$m2^{\circ}C$ and $1.3{\times}10-63{\sim}6.2{\times}10-6$ m/s respectively.

  • Performance analysis of double-effect absorption heat pump system has been done to find improved working pairs (or mixture) by computer simulation. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, the coefficient of performance and mass flow ratio are investigated to compare three aqueous solutions [LiCl-water, LiSCN-LiBr-water, LiCl-$CaCl_2$-$Zn(NO_3)_2$-water] which was developed for only cooling, with conventional LiBr-water solution. It is found that the performances of the new aqueous solutions are better than that of LiBr-water solution not only in cooling systems, but also in heating systems. Theoretical thermodynamic performance data can be used in heat recovery systems by basic design data.

  • Liquid desiccant material, such as lithium chloride (LiCl) or halide slits are usually used on air conditioning application for controlling the humidity of high Outdoor Air (OA). Solar energy is usually used to heat the liquid in regeneration process of those desiccant. The mass transfer it self is driven by the temperature different between the liquid desiccant and the input air. This experiment study is analyzing the characteristic of the aqueous LiCl-air temperature different in variance specific gravity, especially in range of temperature different using the solar energy as the heat generator. The experiment has done by variating the concentration of the LiCl with specific gravity 1.210 and 1.150. For the comparison the pure water is also used. The result show that the mass transfer rate is increased in every variation as the increases of the temperature different, and the weeker aqueous solution of the LiCl the highest mass transfer coefficient.

  • Performance analysis of an absorption heat pump system for solar energy recovery has been done by computer simulation to find improved working pairs. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, the coefficient of performance and mass flow ratio have been calculated to compare two aqueous solutions [LiCl-water, $LiCi-CaCl_2-Zn(NO_3)_2$-water] which were developed for cooling by others, with the conventional LiBr-water solution. As a result of this analysis, the performances of the new aqueous solutions were found to be better than that of LiBr-water solution not only in cooling systems, but also in heating and in heat transformer systems. Their theoretical thermodynamic performance data were given here with.

  • The durability problem of Prussian blue in non-aqueous $Li_+$-based electrolytes has been due to the degradation of the Prussian blue electrode matrix during the insertion/extraction processes by $Li_+$. In this work, we designed and synthesised the Prussian blue without reducing the electrochromic performance in non-aqueous $Li_+$-based electrolytes. Prussian blue was electrodeposited on a glass which has ITO coating, and the coating solution is a mixture solution of $FeCl_3\;and\;K_3Fe(CN)_6$ with deionized water added HCl, KCl, and LiCl, respectively. The durability of Prussian blue was evaluated by an in-situ transmittance measurement during a continuous and pulse potential cycling test, and measured by electroactive layer thickness due to evaluating the degradation.

  • This paper presents the optimization process of liquid desiccant cooling cycle using LiCl aqueous solution as a working fluid. Operating conditions and design factors for heat exchangers were optimized by response surface method. As a result, we obtained the 7.297 kW of cooling capacity and 0.788 of COP at optimized condition. Effect of $dT_{hw}$ on system performances was also examined. As $dT_{hw}$ increases, the cooling capacity increases and COP decreases.

  • This paper presents the optimization process of liquid desiccant cooling system using LiCl aqueous solution as a working fluid. Operating conditions(mass flow rate, conditioner outlet concentration, difference concentration) and design factors for heat exchangers(difference temperature of the district heating water, leaving temperature difference of the conditioner, leaving temperature difference of the regenerator, air temperature difference of the conditioner, air temperature difference of the regenerator) were optimized by response surface method. As a result, we obtained the 7.297 kW of cooling capacity and 0.788 of COP at optimized condition. Effect of difference temperature of hot water on system performances was also examined. As difference temperature of the district heating water increases, the cooling capacity increases and COP decreases.

  • Eu(Ⅲ) exhibits one electron-transfer reduction at E$_{1/2}$ =-0.617 V vs. Ag/AgCl and the hypersensitive peak at 618 nm corresponding to $^5D_0$ ${\leftrightarro}$ $^7F_2$ transition in 0.10 M LiClO$_4$ aqueous solutions. Upon the addition of carboxylate or sulfonate anions to the Eu(Ⅲ) aqueous solutions, the reduction potential shifts negatively and the reduction current decreases because of the complex formation between Eu(Ⅲ) ions and the anions. However, for the case of carboxylate anion (acetate or propionate) the shift of reduction peak potential and the emission intensity at 618 nm are greater. The results are interpreted in terms of the differences in the formation constants and the hypersensitivity.

  • The corrosion behavior of stainless steel (304 and 316 type) and copper induced by LiCl-KCl at low temperatures in the presence of sufficient oxygen and moisture was investigated through a series of experiments (at $30^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, and $80^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, and 96 hours). The specimens not coated on one side with an aqueous solution saturated with LiCl-KCl experienced no corrosion at any temperature, not even when the test duration exceeded 96 hours. Stainless steel exposed to LiCl-KCl experienced almost no corrosion below $40^{\circ}C$, but pitting corrosion was observed at temperatures above $60^{\circ}C$. As the duration of the experiment was increased, the rate of corrosion accelerated in proportion to the temperature. The 316 type stainless steel exhibited better corrosion resistance than did the 304 type. In the case of copper, the rate of corrosion accelerated in proportion to the duration and temperature but, unlike the case of stainless steel, the corrosion was more general. As a result, the extent of copper corrosion was about three times that of stainless steel.

  • Eu(III) exhibits one electron-transfer reduction at $E_{1/2}$ = -0.564 V(vs. Ag/AgCl) and the hypersensitive peak at 615 ㎚ corresponding to $^{5}D_{0}{\rightarrow}^{7}F_{2}$ transition in 0.1 M $LiClO_{4}$ aqueous solution. Upon the addition of 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid(PDA) to the Eu(III) aqueous soultion, the reduction potential shifts negatively and the PDA, and the Eu(III)-PDA complex emits great fluorescence than free-Eu(III) ion at 615 nm. The results are interpreted in term of the electrochemical and spectrofluorometric studies.
