The explosive growth of e-marketplace transactions requires an appropriate trust measuring framework to protect involving transacting entities such as buyers and sellers. As a strategic competitive edge, e-marketplace service providers have been adopting various system features that make sure no one transacting entity takes a major risk in online transactions involved. In this paper, an improved trust measuring method using fuzzy theory for an e-marketplace is proposed. The proposed methodology incorporates fuzzy set and calculation concepts to help build trust matrices and models, which are used to measure the level of risk involved in a specific e-marketplace transaction concerned. The proposed framework can be utilized to optimize the transaction costs by recommending a differentiated transaction process according to the risk level involved in each online transaction.

Many studies have pointed out that trust is the most important component of social capital. Although there have been lots of attempts to measure level of trust between members of community, it is hard to find studies which examine trust from the standpoint of structural aspects. Because of the recent rapid growth of SNS and openness trend on members and their friendship information, it became possible to understand the structure of trust relationships among users in SNS. This study aims to facilitate interpersonal trust by comparing the structure of the trust network among social network users. For this purpose, it proposes a method to explore the structure of trust network and strategies to evolve toward more open structure. In experiments to distinguish structure of trust network with three social network communities, it is discovered that ADVOGATO has characteristics of open and collective network together whereas EPINION and FILMTRUST have collective and open characteristics respectively.

Trust prediction between users in social network based on the trust propagation assumes properties of transitivity and composability of trust propagation. But it has been hard to find studies which test on how those properties have been operated in real social network. This study aims to validate if the longer the distance of trust paths and the less the numbers of trust paths, the higher prediction error occurs using two real social network data set. As a result, the longer the distance of trust paths, we can find higher prediction error when predicting level of trust between source and target users. But we can not find decreasing trend of prediction error though the possible number of trust paths between source and target users increases.

The explosive growth of the internet-based transactions requires not only a secure payment system but also an appropriate trust measuring methodology and secure transaction protocols to guarantee the minimal risk for the transacting entities involved in specific transactions. Especially, in internet auction systems where either buyers or sellers or both can be more than one in one transaction, providing those systems that make sure no one transacting entity takes a major risk becomes critical. In this paper, an improved trust measuring method using a relationship-based internet community for an auction system is proposed. The proposed system incorporates fuzzy set and calculation concepts to help build trust matrices and models, which is used to measure the level of risk involved in a specific auction trade concerned. Also, to optimize the auction trade process in terms of cost and time, the proposed system recommends a differentiated trade protocol according to the risk level involved in each auction trade. To test the appropriateness of the proposed trusted auction system, a prototype system has been developed under a Windows-NT environment.

Recently, the topic of predicting interpersonal trust in online social networks is receiving considerable attention, because trust plays a critical role in controlling the spread of distorted information and vicious rumors, as well as reducing uncertainties and risk from unreliable users in social networks. Several trust prediction models have been developed on the basis of transitivity and composability properties of trust; however, it is hard to find empirical studies on whether and how transitivity and composability properties of trust are operated in real online social networks. This study aims to predict interpersonal trust between two unknown users in social networks and verify the proposition on whether and how transitivity and composability of trust are operated in social networks. For this purpose, we chose three social network sites called FilmTrust, Advogato, and Epinion, which contain explicit trust information by their users, and we empirically investigated the proposition. Experimental results showed that trust can be propagated farther and farther along the trust link; however, when path distance becomes distant, the accuracy of trust prediction lowers because noise is activated in the process of trust propagation. Also, the composability property of trust is operated as we expected in real social networks. However, contrary to our expectations, when the path is synthesized more during the trust prediction, the reliability of predicted trust did not tend to increase gradually.
Objectives : The aim of this study is to understand the antecedents of trust with regard to organization and interpersonal trust among the employees of a hospital organization. Methods : Data were collected from 942 employees who work at ten hospitals of Seoul in other cities in Korea. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS Ver. 18.0 and AMOS Ver. 18.0 and by a frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and regression analysis. Results : The main finding here was that the trust of hospital employees is significantly affected by fairness, consideration, morality, competence, and social responsibility. Conclusions : This result implies that hospital administrators should endeavor to improve the level of trust of among the employees of their organization and in therir coworkers through a fair reward system, an ethical management philosophy, by instilling a high competency level compared to other hospitals, and by ensuring high levels of social responsibility.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the relationships of superior's leadership to supervisory trust and organizational commitment of nurses. Method: Subjects were 386 nurses in 8 general hospitals at G city and Seoul. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using SAS 8.12 by applying ttest, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. Results: Superior's transformational leadership was $3.54{\pm}0.53$ and transactional leadership was $3.40{\pm}0.36$. Supervisory trust was $3.14{\pm}0.46$ and organizational commitment was $3.18{\pm}0.53$. Superior's transformational leadership was positively correlated with transactional leadership, supervisory trust and organizational commitment with each others. The level of supervisory trust and organizational commitment were different significantly by age, educational status, clinical career, position and superior's leadership level. Major factor that affect to supervisory trust and organizational commitment of nurses was transformational leadership, which had an explanation of 45.9% and 29.8%. Conclusions: The more nurses perceived the superior's transformational leadership, the higher nurses perceived supervisory trust and organizational commitment. Therefore, these variables generally screened and other factors should be analyzed. And if specified nursing intervention program which increase superior's transformational leadership will be developed, it may contribute to strengthen the effectiveness of nursing.

This article proposed the authentication protocol for peer-to-peer resource sharing community. The proposed protocol does not require a priori information for generating and exchanging authentication key. Also this protocol can provide the delicate access control by allowing the user(authenticator) to assign the trust level to the authentication supplicant, which can be used to decide if the resource providing node will accept the resource sharing request from a resource requesting node. Trust Relationship Chaining provides the environment where trust levels (included in the trust table) of nodes in the resource sharing community are propagated among nodes when trust tables are exchanged between two nodes engaged in mutual authentication process and authentication refresh so that any two nodes which are not directly mutual-authenticated can assign the trust level each other for the access control for resource sharing. In the proposed protocol a node can implements the authentication refresh continuously to verify the effectiveness of authentication after mutual authentication so that the authentication of new node or authentication revocation(effectiveness cancellation) of the departed node can be propagated to the all the nodes in RSC and eventually safe resource sharing community is configured.
Due to the wide use of internet, electronic commerce market is gradually increasing but consumers still conceive various transaction-related problems. Various studies argue that those problems are obstructing trust in electronic commerce. Most studies on electronic commerce address that trust is measured as a Single dimension in which factors obstructing trust are same as those of increasing distrust. However, this study doesn't view trust as a single dimensional level but understands trust and distrust are bidimensional. This study also holds a viewpoint that they are influenced by different antecedents. According to the results of empirical analysis, the antecedents of trust have a significant explanatory power to trust and those of distrust have it to distrust. Other relations among the notions of trust and distrust, perceived risk and purchase intention as depicted in the research model are all statistically significant except the relation between distrust and purchase intention. This study shows a strong evidence of the bidimensionality of trust with separate antecedents.
"Trust" becomes a focal issue in e-business. Unlike traditional business environment, virtual situation requires new trust-ensuring mechanism other than face-to-face meetings and other related means of confirmation. Many countries are trying to foster trust services industry in order to increase e-business transactions and activities. This paper compares and contrasts these countries' policies on trust services. Conclusions of this comparative research includes: (1) trust services industry will be tightly integrated horizontally and increase their scope vertically towards trust in business sense over and beyond the mere technical level trust, (2) necessity of reciprocal trust authentication exchange is calling for an international standard in a near future, and (3) two different types of policies are under development: government-led and industry-led. Advantages and disadvantages of different approaches are presented with details of legal implications and structures of operations.
